After updating to OSX Mavericks, Lightroom 5 will no longer start on my MacBook Pro. Checking the system log, I see only this:

why Lightroom 5 will no longer start?
When I try to connect my Nikon D610 with a USB cable to import RAW files (i.e. .NEF), I need to open manually LR and click on the Import button to start importing even if Automatic Import is activated.

Tried this solution without sucess.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlmost every time I switch in and out of Lightroom 5.2 running on OS X mavericks cursor and keyboard control freezes up for around 10-30 seconds. Other applications including LR still continue to work during this freeze up but the mouse cursor will not move and I just have to sit and wait for a little while and everything will resume normally after this delay.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have scanned something in OS X Mavericks (10.9.0) using my Canon PIXMA MP280 and am attempting to add it to my main Lightroom catalog (LR 5.2) but am having issues. I have tried the following formats with the noted results:
.TIFF - Lightroom throws error "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged. (1)" .JPG - Lightroom does not show the file in the import dialog, thus does not even attempt to import it. .PNG - Imports ok.
The .TIFF and .JPG formats seem compeltely intact as they open without any issues in OS X Preview and Pixelmator.
When using the library filter on metadata no numbers are shown anymore, even not after clicking restore default presets?

I already tried several fixes like:
1. reinstall all redist(x64 & x86).
2. reinstall .Net 4.0
3. Use CCleaner for Registry error.
4. chckdsk for error and fix.still error so I've gone through this.
5. I uninstall Autocad 2014 completely, uninstall it manually one by one,deleted left over folder of autodesk or similar software to it, deleted its registry keys.just like the instruction on how to remove autocad completely in autodesk, I just followed it all. [after Reboot]
6 I Re-install it and still the problem persist.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI operate Windows 7 with Lightroom 3. My catalogue is held on an external drive from my PC. I have tried to open my catalogue today, but my images (17,000 plus) have disappeared, although my folders are still present. I have the RAW images backed up on a separate drive and the catalogue backed up in two parts by exporting these two sections as separate catalogues to another drive. NO MATTER WHAT I TRY I CANNOT GET THE IMAGES TO LOAD. This is the second time this has happened and I am loathe to start reimporting copies of the RAW files only to lose them (and all the work I have done on them) again. What can i do to get the images and the ones i have adjusted back? I find lightroom a brilliant tool except for this issue of losing images and work.

I have uninstalled Lightroom and re-installed and still get the same error.
I recently had to repair my Windows Home 7 Premium. Since the repair, a number of programs would not start...this System Error dialog appears:
The program can't start because .DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.
The programs were Lightroom 4.1, Acronis True Imeage 2012, AVG Antivirus and Vegas Movie Studio 10. Photoshop Elements 9 was unaffected.
I uninstalled and reinstalled all affected programs. TrueImage, Antivirus and Vegas started working again with no issues. Lightroom 4 kept showing the same error (even though the reinstall is always successful). I tried installing 4.0, 4.1 and 4.3, all of them have the same problem.

Further research appears that the temp file location is not found for lightroom 3 64bit, and it wants me to find it or reinstall lightroom 3. The problem is that my software is 16hrs away from me and I forgot to register it when I got it for school in July 2010. I am not sure what I can do here, but I need it for school. Can I just download a trial version and until I can get this fixed

Whenever I open it, it gets to the "Starting 3DS Max 2012" screen and then freezes. The process freezes as well. Is there a way I can fix this? I have Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-Bit, and a Dual-Core Processor. My computer meets all the System Requirements except an insufficient video card.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a VB .NET Dll that add a new ribbon in AUTOCAD.When I load this dll from AUTOCAD, this new ribbon is well added.I'm trying to start this dll with AUTOCAD Start.
I've tried to load the DLL from the acad.lsp but the DLL is loaded before AUTOCAD load the ribbon, then the dll is well loaded but my new ribbon is not displayed !.
I have a preview cache error on start up. This persists even on re-start and LR will not progress beyond this point. I have tried a repair and a re-install but no joy. I also did a clean of the PC after to clear any registry errors too. Still the same happening. Photoshop works fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Lightroom 4 and want to get started by setting up more than one catalogue but I am not sure if you have to have one catalogue for every photo in addition to the separate catalogues I want for subsets of photos. Can I just go ahead and make several catalogues and sort my photos (which are on my hard drive) into them without making a catalogue that references every photo? Maybe it's a good idea to have one complete catalogue as well in order to make it easier to find that missing photo?Also I have read that it is a good idea to store catalogue files in a separate folder in the root, which appeals to my sense of organisation, but do I need to make separate sub-folders for my individual catalogues or can they just all go into the one folder? Can't wait to get started!
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have just recently replaced the hard drive on my IMac. All files and applications have been re-installed from the time machine back up drive. LR shows up on the dock but when I open it it comes up with:"The Lightroom catalog named “Lightroom 3 Catalog” cannot be opened because another application already has it opened" and "Quit the other copy of Lightroom before trying to launch."
Do I have to reinstall LR3 from the LR DVD? I do not want to use loose the catalog structure and edit info.
I get a message saying "Application unable to start (0xc000007b)
View 2 Replies View RelatedLightroom 4.3 won't start up on my Windows 8, 32 bit machine. Install went fine but when I click on the Lr icon the program appears to start up and I get the Lr in the task bar at the bottom and when I hover over the icon I get a thumbnail of the start screen. When I hover over the thumbnail of the start screen it appears on my desktop but when I move the mouse off the thumbnail the start screen disappears from the desktop so there is no way to get past this point.
