I used to use Lightroom 2, a Canon 450D and Photoshop CS4. i had no problem using Lightroom, Photo/Edit in Photoshop to open and work with my images in photoshop. i then upgraded to Lightroom 3.6 and now use a Canon 60D camera and still use Photoshop CS4. When i click Photo/Edit in Photoshop now, Phoshop CS4 opens but the image doesn't appear. What can i do to rectify this?
I have my photos on a separate volume at /Volume/Users/Lightroom Photos/…
Everything works fine except when I choose "Edit in Photoshop CS6", work on the image in Photoshop then save it. It gets saved back to the same folder as the original file, but when I tab back to Lightroom it just shows a square tile with a question mark instead of the new file. Tapping on the exclamation mark reveals that Lightroom thinks the new file is supposed to be in /Users/Lightroom Photos/…
For example the dialog box might say:
“_DSC3047-Edit.tif” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? Previous location: /Users/Lightroom Photos/2012/2012-12-08/_DSC3047-Edit.tif
When in reality the original and the edit are both in /Volumes/Users/Lightroom Photos/2012/2012-12-08/ and there is not, and never was a /Users/Lightroom Photos/…
That is, something about saving back from Photoshop stripped off the "/Volumes/" from the beginning of the path. I can choose Locate and find it right where it should be and it will show up. Once it shows up the image tile shows the image but has an exclamation mark; tapping on that brings up a dialog box that says:
The metadata for this photo has been changed by both Lightroom and another application. Should Lightroom import settings from disk or overwrite disk settings with those from the catalog?
This is on a Mac and so /Users does exist but that maps to /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users. I wonder if either LR or PS is confused by there being a /Users and a /Volumes/Users.
Editing in a Nik Plugin (e.g. Silver Efx) works properly, FWIW.
I am using LR4.2 and PS CS6 13.0.1 on OS X 10.8.2.
I have the filmstrip set to auto hide/show. As I browse through my library, I'll pick an image to work on in Develop. I may then want to work on an adjacent image. Instead of going back to the library to select it, I want to hover over the film strip and select the image that is 1 or 2 away from the current one.
When I first hover over the filmstrip, it shows my current location but then quickly slides to a different part of the strip. Usually no where near where I'm working. I haven't been able to determine a pattern. Sometimes it will go to the beginning, sometimes the end. Sometimes to an image I was working on the last time I closed Lightroom (if I am still in that folder).
I need the filmstrip to follow me as I move through a set of images.I don't remember having this problem in 3.x
i started my first project in lightroom, and i use to change the look of my images in the development section every day again (a bit here, a bit there).
when i press before/after, LR5 only shows the version i did yesterday and the one from now, today, how can i see the unedited version of the image, which i imported last week?
I have Lightroom 4 and the plug-in LR2/Mogrify; which I purchased. I am trying to send my images at 300 dpi to a photo lab to produce 4x6 prints with a border at the bottom that is 10% of the short side, and the other 3 borders are 2% of the short side. I then add text for a size 25 pixel font. I am happy with this look when I export to the file folder on the desktop. When I upload to the photo lab, their software wants to resize my prints; where I loose my border or part of the image or the larger border with the words cut-off. I know I have to do something with the canvas, but I don’t understand what to do to get a fixed image size for a 4x6 print with borders and text. I need to know what the numbers are to imput in the Mogrify "background canvas" and how many KB to "compress to file size".
I have the "image sizing" at 6" longest edge, 300 dpi for resolution I have the canvas at 1280 x 1920 The compression size at 300kb
With this I am losing the top border and the other borders now look wierd.
I'm having an issue using LR4 where when shooting in tethered capture mode the previewed image wont advance to the photo you have just taken. The file is there, but you have to manually advance to it.
Trouble with PS5 and LR4... when I go to "edit in Photoshop" from Lr... it opens and doesn't match the image in LR (colors)... same goes when saving edited image back to LR... also, when Saving from PS to desktop, it looks terrible unless I "Save for internet" ... how can I get this to all match?
When opening an image in photoshop, the canvas is not visible. As you can see the opened image is not visible, but when moving the image window around I can see the image. Then when i release the image from the cursor and stop moving it around, it is no longer visible.
Also when maximizing the window, this happens: I am then forced to close the window. I'm running on windows 8 64-bit, and my gpu is a Nvidia Quadro K2000m, with a pretty capable laptop. My GPU drivers seem to be up to date. I understand that this problem can be fixed if I select to not use my graphics processor, but I'd like to take advantage of my gpu.
Setting the drawing mode to basic has had no effect. I'm also having similar problems with other programs like autodesk mudbox.
I just installed it and picked an image to try a few things with. When I open up any of the filter windows (for sharpening and others etc) my image does not open up in the adjustment window. Any idea why that is happening? Did I miss something when I installed the program? Is there a setting that should be set and isn't? I have Vista on my lap top, and XP-SP3 on my desktop, and it is the same in both.
When I open an Image in Photoshop CC the image does not appear in my work space. The tab identifies that the image is opened, layers shows the image is open, however it is not on the screen. All tools, brushes etc work, but I can't see what they are doing. I can only see the image if i click the tab and move it around. Once my mouse lets go of the image window it dissapears again. After moving it around and such it gets buggy and the image crashes not Photoshop. i have attached two screen shots of my problem. the second with the image, i have my mouse clicked, held down holding onto the window to acheive this.
Worked with an earlier version of Photoshop which had , well much more than I needed before.
But there are some basic things that, if because of how I work and the speed I am used to with the 'flow' of things, I will not remain on PS and go back to psp if this is not possible. Seems like software is going backwards but I disgress
Issue: I want to be able to print screen, and then jump into PS and just click anywhere on the gray area and paste the scrnshot as a new image or hovering selection onto a current image without having to open a new window to the size of the image.
Also - The zoom tool is VERY annoying in PS. I'm used to being able to just use the mouse wheel to zoom in, fix something , then quickly zoom out to check the validity of the fix...or zoom back in and repair the issue further etc etc. Is this not possibly also?
I REALLY need AT LEAST these two functions to work like this. Everything else I will muttle through unless there is 30 steps to do what I could do in 5 in psp which from what I hear I doubt.
When I try this, PSE 11 opens but the image doesn't show up. When I go back to Aperture, I find a .psd version of the file I attempted to edit in PSE11.
I'm running CS6 on Windows7, Intel HD Graphics P4000 with driver updated. I have used the oil paint filter successfully in the past. Now when I try to use it, the filter window comes up, and it notes that the image I want to work on is at 25% size, but it remains blank -- the image itself never shows.
Using bridge to organize 150 images. Does it save an image order? I clicked the build and export cache option last night before leaving it, but this am it's reverted back to the order it wants to be in, which is the order it is in finder.
I made a simple panel in photoshop and used the #number for the color selected to fill one side of the panel in my CSS code. When the page is rendered there's a very slight difference between the panel and the background which I expect to be exactly the same.
I use Photoshop LE 5.0, which has many of the BIG Photoshop features.
If I take a web page screenshot and turn it into greyscale and print that, I still get some colors coming thru on the printout, even though it looks b/w on the screen.
Is this a common problem? Photoshop or Printer or Windows?
Since installing CS6 about a month ago, when I double-click on an image and PS is closed, PS will launch but the image doesn't open. If PS is already open, double-clicking works properly. This was an upgrade install and I'm running Mac OS 10.6.8.
I have Windows XP/Pro with SP3. In File Options > File Types I have JPG set to open up in Photoshop CS4; alas, when JPG files are either in Outlook as attachments or on the desktop, nothing happens when I double click them. My workaround is to drag the file icon into CS4, and this only works from the desktop, not from Outlook.
I just installed Photoshop through Creative Cloud and my Liquify filter screen is totally black and doesn't show the image. You would think the default setting would be to show the image or layer,
Photoshop CS6 the " save for web" function to save on a network location. This network location isn't available to me at this time and now when I want to "save for web" I get an error like " can't perform the job, system can't find the submitted path" (which isn't the exact error but translated from the dutch error: "Kon de bewerking niet voltooien. Het Systeem kan het opgegeven pad niet vinden."
I have created a slide show in Image Ready and it functions correctly. Except.....when I put it on my web page in either Photoshop or Dreamweaver it doesn't work.
Can I get camera raw 7.2 for CS5 Photoshop without upgrading to CS6 photoshop ? Can I revert to Lightroom 4.1? It worked with my photoshop CS5 camera raw.
When I "Edit in Photoshop CS6" (CMD+E), CS6 launches but the image isn't sent to CS6. I just get the default CS working space. I've been using LR4.1 since it came out and just got CS6 (I didn't have previous version of CS).
When I use the scale tool on an image, I get that thing where I have to type in the pixels, but after I do that, and press Scale, I get the scale loading thing, but nothing happens, and the image remains the same size. It also doesn't work if I manually drag the image to size. It's only works when I type in the pixel width, then press enter, then Scale, but this makes the picture remain the same size. I also can't rely on this since I don't know the pixel size. This is what I hate about Gimp, either it's really glitchy or it's super complicated and I don't know how to fix something as simple as this. It's not the first problem I've had, and I have to close with saving, reopen everytime.
URL... and completing all options related to the Mac, the "Edit in Photoshop..." still does not appear as a clckable option in my Lightroom 4.3 program which has all the current updates. Also, my Photoshop Elements 11 program also has all the current updates.
Please note that in the interest of time, that all of the "solutions" were attempted in the above mentioned link.
Lightrrom 4.2 can't use the right click, "edit in" photoshop CS6. I have tried edit, preferences, and created a Preset and pointed it to the CS6 photoshop.exe... still a no-go.
LR 4.3 currently links to PS CS3 which no longer exists on my computer. I have CS6 installed but LR trys to find CS3. Consequently, it doesn't transfer me to PS. How do I link it?
