I use Photoshop LE 5.0, which has many of the BIG Photoshop features.
If I take a web page screenshot and turn it into greyscale and print that,
I still get some colors coming thru on the printout, even though it looks b/w on the screen.
Is this a common problem? Photoshop or Printer or Windows?
i'm using gimp 2.6.11 on a windows 7 enterprise machine. I made some brushes in rbg mode and saved as gbr, and also converted some ps brushes by exporting an abr as a png in rbg mode then saving as gbr. my goal is to get a gbr brush that i can change the color to the foreground color. I tried changing the mode from rgb to greyscale but when i try to re-save as gbr i get an error message that brushes can only be saved in greyscale or rgba (!).
i've tried saving the gbr as a png, changing the mode to greyscale and then saving as gbr but i get the same error message.
Any good skin texture brushes for gimp that can be used with foreground color? It's for a digital portrait of a male so I need an orangepeel texture and some other skin textures that aren't too airbrushed.
I have Windows 8, and Photoshop CS6. All of my blending modes work, except for Screen. I don't know why it doesn't, but I do use it somewhat frequently, and it's really holding me back at this point.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe image is basically a grayscale height map created from Digital Elevation Models, and exported out of another program as a 16bit tiff. I know photoshop can handle the idea of a 16bit image, but no matter what I do, these come out black. i've tried dumping it out as signed, unsigned, stretched, etc. I can't mess with things like contrast or brightness globally cause that will alter the values which have to stay the same.Basically it needs to open in photoshop cs5 as what it is and save off the same way.
I don't have any other way to do what I need to do to it other than photoshop, so if there is a way to make this work, and no, converting it to 8bit is not an option.
Searched the net and did find some official tutorials where its says the Poly mode could be toggled. Like hitting "2" once switches Edge and hitting twice toggles poly mode "off". But I don't find the option where it can be set.

The tab identifies that the image is opened, layers shows the image is open, however it is not on the screen. All tools, brushes etc work, but I can't see what they are doing. I can only see the image if i click the tab and move it around. Once my mouse lets go of the image window it dissapears again. After moving it around and such it gets buggy and the image crashes not Photoshop. i have attached two screen shots of my problem. the second with the image, i have my mouse clicked, held down holding onto the window to acheive this.

I have a problem with this command : "Toggle composite and grayscale mask in Quick Mask mode"I know i have to press the tidle key " ~ " to activate it but i'm using an Azerty keyboard (belgium) and i have trouble with it.The only way i can use the tidle key on my keyboard is to press "Option + n" keys.
So in Photoshop, i load a channel selection, turn into "quick mask mode" and then press "Option + n", but nothing happens.If i try with "Command+Option+n", i open the window for a new document.I have tried ALL combination of keys but nothing worked.I have also tried to change the keyboard input to Britain, Usa, etc but it still doesn't work.
I'm using the english version of Photoshop CS6 (Subscription), and an Azerty Keyboard (Belgium) on a Mac Osx Snow leopard.How can i solve this problem ?
When I go to customize and drag "View image file" to a toolbar, although it says "view image file" on the toolbar it is in black, and doesn't work when clicked on. This is the case on at least 2 entirely different systems.

when i press before/after, LR5 only shows the version i did yesterday and the one from now, today, how can i see the unedited version of the image, which i imported last week?
Illustrator's Image Trace doesn't seem to work at all with large images. The attached image shows the following:
A) The original raster cropped tightly.
B) Converting the raster with default "Black and White Logo" settings. Results in 242 paths and 4792 anchors.
C) Adding a massive amount of white space and then converting the raster with default "Black and White Logo" settings. Results in 407 paths and 1620 anchors.
For whatever reason Illustrator can't seem to handle large images. This test shows it's not an issue with the image being too complex since all I've done is add white space and the file was saved without compression so there should be no noise.
This type of glitch started with CS6 with the new Image Trace tool. Maybe setting Image Trace into legacy mode?
I'm having trouble importing images in Illustrator CS6. Dragging from finder doesn't work, nor does the "place" option. When opening an image in illustrator, all i get is a blank document.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to remove col-erase lines from my sketches in Photoshop.I have Photoshop CS5 and my OS is Windows 7
1) Scan drawing and open in Photoshop
2) Go to channels and remove the other colours than the colour of the pencil (ex. remove green and blue if the colour is red)
3) Change the mode to Grayscale (and back to RGB/CMYK if you want to colour it)
My problem is.. that it only goes halfway. It looks fine until step three. When I change it to Grayscale, the col-erase lines come back, just in B/W and I need to erase them anyway.

Is there a best setting for the mode, color settings, and color profiles when printing a grayscale vector illustration to a monochrome laser printer? I am making vector maps, and right now they are mostly black line and black text with only the K values in CMYK. There are some gray tones—for example water areas are 10% K, with no C, M or Y. Would it make any difference if I used RGB mode values at 100% (255,255,255), or a rich black in CMYK (such as 40C, 30M, 30Y, 100K)? I printed in K only at 1200dpi to a Generic Gray Gamma 2.2 profile, and it doesn't look too bad. There aren't many of the lines that are really jagged. I just wondered if there are better settings.
I'm using Mac OS 10.6, Illustrator CS6, and a Brother HL-5470DW monochrome laser printer.
The project is a photo montage. It was 4-color, now must become 2 colors. So I've changed each of the original 4-color photos (jpg and eps) into separate psd files (as grayscale/duotone/montage-and assigned it One pantone color)
In a new psd "montage" file, I plan to place each photo on its own layer, adjust tints, transparency, etc, to create one new montage/flattened.I'm not sure which color mode is best when setting up this new file, CMYK or grayscale?
Once the PS doc is done, the job will be saved as a PDF for 2-color printing.I want to insure the 2 pantone colors separate properly at press.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI happened to download a rather dark black and white entry into Photoshop and noticed it was several shades lighter in Photoshop than in my browser. It loaded in Photoshop in Grayscale mode. So I tried this:
1. Open Photoshop.
2. Set the background colour to 53 Red, 53 Green, 53 Blue.
3. Select File - New, set the Width to 800 pixels; the Height to 600 pixels; leave Resolution at 72; set Color Mode to Grayscale - 8 bit; set Background Contents to Background Color; and click OK.
4. Save as a jpeg (maximum quality).
5. Open the jpeg in your browser.
When I do this the browser image (I tried both IE and Firefox) is a shade or two darker than the Photoshop image. I used the Colorzilla extension in Firefox to measure the actual color displayed and it comes out at 37 Red, 37 Green, 37 Blue.
I have a creative director who loves to bring grayscale tiffs into quark xpress, set the color of the tiff to one color and then select the image background "box" and set it to another color.
The result is visually ok, but it all has to be recreated in photoshop to print well. I have been using photoshop for years, and a duotone is not the answer, at least with the curves i have played around with.
What is the best way to recreate this effect in photoshop?
Ok got a new laptop, quad core and went to install the trial of Photoshop CS6 Extended and it will not boot into extended mode but rather the original Photoshop mode, and I know this by the splash screen with the circles and the fact there is no 3D menu. A friend did the same on his laptop (different hardware) and his booted into Photoshop CS6 Extended. We used the same Adobe Download Assistant to do our installs. My GPU is the ATI Radeon 6520G and it has support for both Open GL & Open CL. It appears in the Performance preferences with GPU checked and Open CL is selectable in advanced. Now my question is why can't I get into Extended Mode? Why can't we just force it to do so? I have seen this issue all over the place and it seems to be related mostly to ATI/AMD chipsets. I would like to try out the 3D options.
I even tried installing the latest ATI Radeon drivers which are beta 2.7, same issue.
Lately I have been experiencing this weird problem. Every time I try to convert my image to grayscale mode, instead of just being black and white the image turns purple. Is there anyway to fix this problem? ....

The requiment is that for grayscale images, the shadow density should be no darker than 90% and highlights should be no lighter than 3%. I don't know how to check the percentage on the document I made. I checked HELP in Photoshop and website. But I couldn't really get answer from them. I have little knowledge of printing. Please give me advice or helpful website.

I know how to do this if I want it to be, say, blue (where black is 100 percent of my blue and 50% gray is 50% of my blue, etc.). But, what if I want a unique gradient across the image (where 100% is blue, 50% is 50% red, 10% is yellow, etc.)? How would I do that?
