Added the Camera Raw program, version 7.4. Didn't find our camera in the supported camera's list, but there are plenty of Canon EOS Rebels in there, so thought we'd take a chance.

My computer has crashed at some point, and I lost everything, but I managed to save the original RAW file.
Is it possible to recover the development settings from the JPG file, in order to re-edit the orignal RAW file (so I could make changes right from where I left off)?

May 22, 2012Is there a way to import my raw file with the camera picture settings from my camera. I use a personally edited version of the camera vivid from my d300. The files are imported without the settings and get set to adobe standard in my camera calibration. I use lightroom 4 with cs5 64 bit.

Aug 10, 2012LR 3.6 has worked OK before, but now stopped importing photos (jpeg and raw) from my cameras (Canon 5D Mk 3, Canon Powershot 100). Program goes to "does not answer" - status and must be closed. The problem seems to be similar in my Elements 8. Importing from my Canon G10, LR says that there is not preview available, but importing succeeds. All cameras import photos to Windows (7) or Picasa normally.

Jan 12, 2012I have recently purchased a new camera (Canon 600D) and am shooting in RAW+jpg.
I make many on-camera adjustments (exposure, creative effects etc) which apply to the JPG fine. Is there a way to apply these to the RAW image also (within LR) without manually changing all the settings using the 'develop' module? For example, can I right-click on a RAW image and select 'Apply camera settings' or something along those lines?
On a side note, is there a way to ask lightroom to simply use the JPG version rather than the RAW version (on an individual photo basis)? Lightroom as I currently have it set up uses teh JPG only as a preview.
Not sure if it is relevent but I am using the latest Lightroom 3.x on Vista.
Lightroom :: Camera Specific Custom Default Settings?
May 24, 2012I have both a Sony NEX 5 and a Sony NEX 7. I want to establish custom default settings specific to each camera and for each ISO setting I use in Lr. I know Lr has the capability to make default settings for specific camera bodies according to serial number. Sony did not include body serial numbers in the Exif files for the NEX camera line. Since I only have 1 each NEX 5 and 7, will my copy of Lr create separate custom default setting for my specific cameras so long as I don't add additional NEX 5/7 cameras to my Lr setup?

When I connect the camera to the computre and select Tethered Capture, I see the camera name in the tethered capture window, but the values for the settings are "--". When I mouse over the shutter button, the curson becomes a gloved hand with pointed finger and if I click on the shutter button it changes shade, but does not fire. When I look in the view finder, "Busy" flashes and I can't use the camera shutter.

Feb 26, 2013When I import CR2 files (Canon RAW) that have XMP files alongside them into my Lightroom 4 catalog, Lightroom correctly reads image adjustments from XMP files and assigns them as Develop settings for the newly imported photos. This is how I expected it to be. Lightroom assigns older process version to these files, as it should be.
One quick question I have though: once I imported all these CR2 files into my collection, is it safe to delete all those XMP sidecar files immediately? I assume that Lightroom stores all Develop settings in the catalog file at the moment of the import and that XMP sidecars are no longer necessary. Is that correct? Or do I have to enter the Develop mode with each imported file first, before deleting the XMP in order to make old settings to "stick"?
Lightroom :: Importing Images From Camera - Randomly Does Not Display Thumbnails
Jul 12, 2012LR4 seems to have a bug when importing images from a camera where it randomly does not display a thumbnail of the image before invoking the import process. Usually it is whole blocks of images following a few that are properly shown. Perhaps it is dropping the communication link to the camera early?
Furthermore, once the images are imported, different images are not displayed in the thumbnail panel with filters off.
I have been doing identical import procedures on all previous versions of LR without any similar behavior.

Mar 4, 2013I import photos direct from camera (5DII) into Lightroom 4.3 the folder automatically created in Lightroom is one day out from the date photo created. Camera, computer and metadata info of file all have correct date. Windows 8 OS.

Dec 10, 2012Why does an image that has been altered by Lightroom cause the RAW Converter to open when trying to view it in Photoshop. Perhaps this might work; if I import, enhance and convert a RAW image in Lightroom to a jepg image it will open in Photoshop without issue. However if I then alter the jpeg image in Lightroom, update the Metadata and try to view it in Photoshop it cause the Photoshop's RAW Converter to open. Is the alter image's information held in a side car file (xmp) that can'r be read by Photoshop? If so would I need to re-export, (convert), the image again in Lightroom to embedd the changes thus making sure it could be read by all the various programs that are available to view images. As is I send photographs to newspapers and print houses it is important for me to know if they would be receiving fully adjusted images or only the adjustments that were made prior to converting from RAW to jpeg. Just in case...I am new to Lightroom.

I successfully exported the zip file but when importing to the new computer, I get this message: "This file is not an AutoCad LT2012 - English Migration Package".
I have repeated the export to several different media (flash drive, cloud folders) with the same result when attempting to import the file.

Aug 26, 2012I just installed CS6. When I open my photos from Bridge in Camera Raw, the old window from CS5 opens (the one with Fill Light and Recovery), not the new one with Highlights/Shadows.
I can get it to change to the new version by clicking on a fly out menu that says Reset Camera Raw Defaults but I have to do that for each photo. How can I get the new version to open all the time?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Importing Settings From Drawings With That Display
Apr 2, 2012I have created a profile showing existing and finish grade. I can't seem to control the appearance of the existing grade line and the finish grade line individually. I need finish grade to be color 161 and existing grade to be color 252, but whatever I set as a color applies to both.
I have done this in the past with no trouble at all, but can't seem to get it to work now. I even tried importing settings from drawings with that display, but nothing has worked yet.
Photoshop Elements :: Organizer And Importing Images From Camera
Dec 20, 2012I changed Adobe Elements version (from 10 to 11) and Brand New all-in-one Dell XPS computer that comes with Windows 8 as OS (From XP SP3) ... Now my import in Adobe Organzer gets stuck. Adobe Elements sees the camera, and compares the files on my camera to the photos in Organizer and knows how may are duplicates. I then select all the photos it finds as Non-Duplicates and tell it what directory to import into and select (Finish/Import) and it just sits there. I can change anything on that screen for options, but it really is locked up. I have to use Task Manager to end the task so that I can get back into Adobe Organizer.

May 2, 2012I’m a long time Photoshop user but recently picked up LR4 to try to fine tune my workflow. I’ve noticed that after importing new files (RAW, I haven’t tried with jpg) into my library as I scroll through them (1-up, not in grid) the preview comes up and then after a second or so the WB changes to a much colder image.
Does LR4 initially preview at specific settings and then change to the individual image settings? Even if so, the final images seem very cool and I feel like I have to up the temp more than I should have to. My previous workflow was to sort in Bridge and then use ACR to import to Photoshop. I feel like I did much less tweaking of my WB this way. I feel like I’m starting from square one with LR4.
