I have to import useing image capture or use a card reader
I am on Lion 10.7.4 and LR 4.1
Lightroom 4 imports photos and videos from my iPhone and puts them where I want them to go, and names the directories the way I want. All good. But it also leaves the photos on the phone to be manually deleted. Is there some way to have it delete the photos after import?

So now I have them all on my laptop but need to delete them from my iPhone to make more room. Deleting on the iPhone is a tetious one by one (checkmarking them) process.

No luck - the pictures are greyed out on the import screen. Added the Camera Raw program, version 7.4. Didn't find our camera in the supported camera's list, but there are plenty of Canon EOS Rebels in there, so thought we'd take a chance.

Program goes to "does not answer" - status and must be closed. The problem seems to be similar in my Elements 8. Importing from my Canon G10, LR says that there is not preview available, but importing succeeds. All cameras import photos to Windows (7) or Picasa normally.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import CR2 files (Canon RAW) that have XMP files alongside them into my Lightroom 4 catalog, Lightroom correctly reads image adjustments from XMP files and assigns them as Develop settings for the newly imported photos. This is how I expected it to be. Lightroom assigns older process version to these files, as it should be.
One quick question I have though: once I imported all these CR2 files into my collection, is it safe to delete all those XMP sidecar files immediately? I assume that Lightroom stores all Develop settings in the catalog file at the moment of the import and that XMP sidecars are no longer necessary. Is that correct? Or do I have to enter the Develop mode with each imported file first, before deleting the XMP in order to make old settings to "stick"?
LR4 seems to have a bug when importing images from a camera where it randomly does not display a thumbnail of the image before invoking the import process. Usually it is whole blocks of images following a few that are properly shown. Perhaps it is dropping the communication link to the camera early?
Furthermore, once the images are imported, different images are not displayed in the thumbnail panel with filters off.
I have been doing identical import procedures on all previous versions of LR without any similar behavior.

I import photos direct from camera (5DII) into Lightroom 4.3 the folder automatically created in Lightroom is one day out from the date photo created. Camera, computer and metadata info of file all have correct date. Windows 8 OS.

I am attempting to import images from a memory card via a card reader, using Copy in the Import dialog. The destination folder is on an external hard drive. There is no second copy, and I have deleted any previous second copy destinations.
LR can see the images on the card, but when I select Import, the progress bar moves along and a few hours later there are no images either added to the catalog nor copied to the external hard drive. If I watch the destination folder in Finder I can see that there are a whole lot of temporary folders being made and erased each with the file name of the photo, but there is no permanent transfer of data to the external hard drive. The error message is as follows "lightroom 5 could not copy a file to the requested location" and there is a list of the numbers of images (which is all of them) that were not copied or added to the catalog.
I have tried a different card reader. I have checked and double checked that I have read and write permissions on the external hard drive. I have checked that I have read and write permissions on all the Lightroom folders in the Application Support folder.
To make matters worse when I purchased LR5 upgrade initially I was able to import like normal on both of my computers, and today neither one will allow me to import via LR. I have not imported images for about a month on either machine but prior to that there was no problem.
I am able to add photos to the catalog from the external hard drive once transferred from the card, but I wanted to avoid this for time management reasons and also because I like to rename on Import.
I open an iPhone pano image. go to filter–>adaptive wide angle filter and in the lower left corner I find – as indicated as being requested to function properly the tut – the name of the camera, the lens and the f-stop with wich the image was taken. The filter does still not draw the automatic line on the corved part of the building I try to improve. Going to correction –> automatic in the upper right corner I get an error message that no matching profile for the iPhone's camera's lens could be found.
Why that when it is clerly indicated as being 4.28 mm etc already? The iPhone 4S has been here for quite a while and is widely used, so why the error?
I'm trying to import canon 1dx raw files to LR5 from a card reader. I get this error: "The following files were not imported because they could not be read."
However when I import d800 files, it imports perfectly fine.
This is on a Mac. When I import the same files on the same card to a PC LR5, it works fine. I also tried using a different CF card, same results.
update: i got the files to import if i connected a usb cord directly to the camera.. but it never works with the card reader.
Trying to troubleshoot a weird issue w/ Lightroom 5.3 on a PC. Updated my current catalog and wanted to import a couple of old catalogs to consolidate images. The first two of the old catalogs updated and imported just fine, previews were merged, data seamlessly integrated -- all good. But the third catalog is giving me no end of grief. It goes through the update process to be LR5 compatible, but when I say "import everything" on the list of found images/folders, it tries for a bit, then fails out with "unknown error". This happens regardless of what I pick from that catalog -- even a single folder. It also happens if I export a sub-catalog from the old catalog and try to import that. But the updated catalog runs just fine on its own.
I've tried optimizing the offending catalog and checked for any possible issues with folder names, missing images, incompatible formats etc. etc.
I'm reluctant to try the "reverse" operation and import my main catalog back into the old, "challenged" catalog for fear of future corruption.
i've been able to import photos directly from my iphone by plugging my phone into the USB/iPhone cable (and then into my mac) and then doing "Import Photos from Device" and my iPhone would appear with the standard grid of photos. Ive imported a thousand photos or so from my phone that way.
when i plugged my phone in and tried to import my photos, in LR 4.1 (not 4.2), many of the new photos said "no preview available". I thought that was odd, so i thought i'd disconnect and then reconnect the phone.
At that point, the import screen says "no photos found".The photos are still available on the phone itself, but not in LR. I rebooted and upgraded to LR4.2, but still i'm getting the same thing.
Lightroom 2 used to open the import window when I plugged in my iphone 3G but now it doesn't. It doesn't even show up and "import photos from device" is grayed out. I would like to be able to import photos from my iPhone as if it were a camera.

why LR4 won't import tracklogs from the iPhone App GPS Tracks.For as far as I can tell, the tracklog information and format looks corect to me. Here is a sample from the app:

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently imported the camera roll (not the photostream) off my iPhone 5 into Lightroom. The filename appears as the number of the image (eg. IMG 6438); I want to import photos also taken with the same iPhone that had been uploaded to my MAC desktop (because they include photos not currently on the camera roll) but they have assumed a different filename (eg. 2013-06-27 14.40.16.jpg). I have checked off "Do not import duplicates" (and am not renaming upon import) but LR is not recognizing them (the identical photo) as such and weeding out the ones I actually don't have in my library is becoming increasingly problematic..

Is this possible or do i need to manually delete the ones I don't want and import the ones I do want. The connector is a AV cables to USB to PC.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI changed Adobe Elements version (from 10 to 11) and Brand New all-in-one Dell XPS computer that comes with Windows 8 as OS (From XP SP3) ... Now my import in Adobe Organzer gets stuck. Adobe Elements sees the camera, and compares the files on my camera to the photos in Organizer and knows how may are duplicates. I then select all the photos it finds as Non-Duplicates and tell it what directory to import into and select (Finish/Import) and it just sits there. I can change anything on that screen for options, but it really is locked up. I have to use Task Manager to end the task so that I can get back into Adobe Organizer.
