LR 3.6 has worked OK before, but now stopped importing photos (jpeg and raw) from my cameras (Canon 5D Mk 3, Canon Powershot 100). Program goes to "does not answer" - status and must be closed. The problem seems to be similar in my Elements 8. Importing from my Canon G10, LR says that there is not preview available, but importing succeeds. All cameras import photos to Windows (7) or Picasa normally.
View 4 RepliesI import photos direct from camera (5DII) into Lightroom 4.3 the folder automatically created in Lightroom is one day out from the date photo created. Camera, computer and metadata info of file all have correct date. Windows 8 OS.

View 2 Replies View Relatedimporting photos into Xara 7 - the photos have a "green" sheen to them - I've only noticed as I've been using xara to print out some photos for a friend who's printer died. he uses powerpoint to print his and the difference between the two is really marked! i'm assuming it's due to CMYK/RGB differences (ppt is RGB) but I can't for the life me see where I can alter the Xara settings so the photos come in as per ppt.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Lightroom 4 on a Mac has stopped importing from a memory card. It used to do so, but now it hangs up and never actually imports the photos. If I save the photos from the card to a folder on my desktop, it works just fine. I have tried several different memory cards at different speeds, sizes, fullness, and it doesn't seem to matter. What can I do to go back to importing directly from the memory card?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am no longer able to import any new files into Lightroom. I was in the middle of an import and all of a sudden it stopped and the program hung. I am running Win 7 64 with an i7 with 12 gigs of RAM. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom multiple times (Using both the windows installer and via Lightroom and then searched to see if there were any orpne files on my drive. ) , did a system restore to a point about a month ago, tried importing a simple jpeg file from the hard drive as well as CR2 files (Canon) and even DNG files. Also tried setting up a new catalog with no success. Plenty of hard drive space and no drive errors. There is nothing wrong with the files as I can open them in Photoshop. I can see the files on the import screen though they are not always rendered. When I choose import it just starts, says Importing files and hangs. When I finally give up, and I have waited an hour or more, and kill the process I get the message - No photos or videos were found to import. Other tidbits. Takes a long time to be able to select files to import from the import screen. System seems to run for some time before I can select or deselect (If this were a Mac it would show a beach ball during this wait) Each time I quit or try to change catalogues it asks for the weekly backup (my default) even though I backed it up sometimes as recently as within the past 10 minutes and those backups appear to be valid and in the directory. Every other feature, including Export seems to work I just can no longer import files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using custom profiles that I created using a ColourChecker Passport for sometime now. I just updated LR and ACR to the latest versions, and I've noticed that they are no longer selectable under the Camera Calibration tab - I just get the standard list of profiles for my camera (Nikon D7000).
I checked in the the relevant folder for LR and they weren't there, but they are in the ACR folder. I copied them across to the LR folder as well, but this has had no effect. In both cases, they're in the root-level folder for all profiles, so in LR's case, they're in C:Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3/resources /CameraProfiles. This is where both the CCP and Adobe DNG Profile Editor have previoulsy placed them by default - I've never needed to place them in the actual camera model folder itself. Both applications have always found them there without issue.
LR has stopped importing my Nikon d600 raw files, first says no preview available then when I click import it says not supported. I have upgraded to ver 4.4 but still have the same problem.

No luck - the pictures are greyed out on the import screen. Added the Camera Raw program, version 7.4. Didn't find our camera in the supported camera's list, but there are plenty of Canon EOS Rebels in there, so thought we'd take a chance.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import CR2 files (Canon RAW) that have XMP files alongside them into my Lightroom 4 catalog, Lightroom correctly reads image adjustments from XMP files and assigns them as Develop settings for the newly imported photos. This is how I expected it to be. Lightroom assigns older process version to these files, as it should be.
One quick question I have though: once I imported all these CR2 files into my collection, is it safe to delete all those XMP sidecar files immediately? I assume that Lightroom stores all Develop settings in the catalog file at the moment of the import and that XMP sidecars are no longer necessary. Is that correct? Or do I have to enter the Develop mode with each imported file first, before deleting the XMP in order to make old settings to "stick"?
LR4 seems to have a bug when importing images from a camera where it randomly does not display a thumbnail of the image before invoking the import process. Usually it is whole blocks of images following a few that are properly shown. Perhaps it is dropping the communication link to the camera early?
Furthermore, once the images are imported, different images are not displayed in the thumbnail panel with filters off.
I have been doing identical import procedures on all previous versions of LR without any similar behavior.

Why does an image that has been altered by Lightroom cause the RAW Converter to open when trying to view it in Photoshop. Perhaps this might work; if I import, enhance and convert a RAW image in Lightroom to a jepg image it will open in Photoshop without issue. However if I then alter the jpeg image in Lightroom, update the Metadata and try to view it in Photoshop it cause the Photoshop's RAW Converter to open. Is the alter image's information held in a side car file (xmp) that can'r be read by Photoshop? If so would I need to re-export, (convert), the image again in Lightroom to embedd the changes thus making sure it could be read by all the various programs that are available to view images. As is I send photographs to newspapers and print houses it is important for me to know if they would be receiving fully adjusted images or only the adjustments that were made prior to converting from RAW to jpeg. Just in case...I am new to Lightroom.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhy does LR4 not import ALL my photos from the selected folder on my portable hard drive? "Include Subfolders" is checked and "suspected duplicates" are allowed. The difference is about 10,000 photos per the info from Windows Exployer (approx. 175,000 vs 185,000 files). I can view the missing photos in exployer and not in LR4. I have tried deleting the catalog and starting from scratch. I have tried importing from subfolders. Sometimes I get different results, but not much different.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Lightroom 3 on a Mac OS. I wanted to download "Focus Magic", but apparently that is an impossibility. I installed it on my PC, on which also have LR3, made the adjustments I wanted in "focus Magic", then copied them to a disc. When I go to copy them into LR on my Mac, it won't allow it, as the photos "already exist" on the system. I have also tried this on different occasions for different reasons with the same result.
