I am currently using LR 3 and am in the middle of editing a full wedding. Should I wait until I've edited the wedding before I upgrade or will all of my saved edits transfer from LR 3 to 5?
View 1 RepliesAs you can see, I am in a frantic stage. I just finished editing through close to 800 photos of a wedding that I recently shot. After I finished editing them I went to the floder location, in Windows, not Lightroom 3 (huge mistake), and I made a folder inside of that folder called "raw". I selceted all of the photos and then moved them into the that folder. So, the files were in weddings/021812/ and I put them in weddings/021812/raw/ . When I went to Lightroom, of course it said that the files were offline. Instead of finding the missing folder, I clicked "synchronize folder" and pointed towards the "raw" folder. I noticed that the images were importing without their setting and I cancelled the synchronization. I went back to windows and moved all of the photos back to their original folder and now when I try to "update folder location", the photos do not show up in Lightroom.

I can see I am currently working on the LR5 catalog, so is there any harm in deleting the LR4 catalog?
After upgrading from LR4.3 to 5 all existing GPS data are lost. Also new RAW NEF photo's don't show the GPS data. The old files in 4.3 were .dng converted NEF files.All these data missing in thousands of photo's is frustrating to say the least.

I was able to try Irdient new upgrade for X-Trans and my file are so much more crisp and detailed then they are in LR with your support for the X-Trans. Are you going to upgrade you support to match those of Irdient. I am sure you have read the reviews and have used the product for your own edificaiton. If you are not, I may have to switch, my business depends on my best product.

I went to import some new images and my import presets (such as metadata to insert copyright info) are no longer there. How do I restore these (and potentially other presets I've yet to discover missing) painlessly and quickly? I thought upgrading my catalog would carry this information into LR4 but it would seem not.

They were organized by year and month, now they are all in one folder with no organization. Is there a way to change this setting to autmatically organize on import by year and month. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Lr4 calalog has all my color labels but when upgrading that calalog to Lr5 - all color labels on images are stripped and I see the label default (Red - Delete, etc)
I went into the Roaming - Adobe - Lightroom folder and found "Label Sets" but I fear what is in there is the Lr5 stuff
Question: How can I get all my Lr5 catalog images to have the same color labels as my Lr4 catalog?
When clicking on Import, instead of the usual tool bar across the top of the screen, as I've seen in many videos, I get a very large bar across the middle of the screen. There probably is a toggel somewhere that allows you toswitche back and forth between the large bar and the normal one at the top. I have been watching a number of videos trying to learn LR but have not come across this issue/option. Currently, I have always moved my photos into a folder on an external drive and then inport to LR. Is that the problem?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed Lightroom 5, and I can't seem to select the middle grid photos. There are also times when I can't select the outer grid photos or can't scroll within the grid. It is almost like the program isn't recognizing that my cursor is hovering over the photo. This doesn't seem to be effecting the selecting of photos in the horizontal strip at the bottom of the page. I'm using a macbook pro; it has the most recent OS.

I was recently married and one of the photographs of my wife and I is absolutely great (taken by a friend). The ONLY problem is that at the time of the shot it looks as though my wife has a large piece of confetti on her tongue. This is a real shame because she looks absolutely stunning. Does anyone know how I can remove the offending piece of confetti and restore her teeth, tongue and lips?

Tested cards and cardreaders for two different cameras - same dialogue box comes up. response is there area many bugs in LR 4.2 and Adobe is ignoring. One Adobe spokes person suggested optimizing and restarting. haven't tried it yet.

Endless hours of searching the internet, for something similiar proved unfruitful. Several guys on this forum took the time to blow up the photo, however my computer crashed and I do not have the pictures anymore.
View 37 Replies View RelatedI do a lot of photography and like to create pages in Photoshop to be used with companies who create albums such as SharedINK and AsukaBook.
There are a few nice software options out there such as Yervants Page Gallery, You Select It, Fotofusion, Pixel Creator Pro, etc. that help in designing album layouts. There are also some sites catering to Photoshop actions that create pages based on templates as well.
I'm seeking advice about the best way to create my own templates in Photoshop. Currently I am thinking of the following way.
1. Create my page template with guides and proper dimensions for the book company I plan to use. So I would create a 10x10 inch page and set guidelines for dpi/bleed/trimming for example.
2. I then would create clipping layers for each image and then arrange them all on a copy of the canvas background.
3. I would also add some line art, colored boxes, and perhaps adjust the opacity on some of the images.
Finally, I would save the file into a PSD format.
My thinking is that I could re-use the file again and simply replace the images in the clipping masks.
A few other ideas for creating a template in Photoshop might be to experiment with Smart Objects or Cutout Masks.
I have an interest in supplying a few of these templates to friends and associates who design wedding albums, family albums, or simply to showcase their photography and artwork.
I'm curious what others think about the best way to create a template in photoshop that could be used in a Wedding Photo Book for example "without" having to purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of 3rd party template software. In fact, I've actually heard that Yervant's Page Gallery and You Select It will export to PSD, but they will not create a very good template in Photoshop. There are limitations I've heard, thus designing in Photoshop from the beginning seems the best way. Plus the sky's the limit with creating your own designs.
Finally, I should mention that there is nothing wrong with having a 3rd Party template workflow. I in fact just purchased a copy of Fotofusion and it's fabulous for creating fast photo collages and then mixing them up again to gain a fast view of alternate layouts.
This is a relatively new area I think for most Photoshop users, but with the advent of Digital Photography and the reduction in price for published styled albums, I think more and more people will be interesting in creating their own templates. Not to mention creating templates above and beyond the basics which I'm seeing a lot lately. You wouldn't believe how basic some of the Photoshop pages are floating around and how much people are charging for them. They're simple to make in Photoshop and thus the desire to create my own templates.
In develop mode in LR 4.4 I get a small line through the middle of the image preview box in the navigation panel.
Why and how I might get rid of it? I used to get it in 4.3 and 4.1 too.
I'm only used to using illustrator and am struggling with what should be a simple task in photoshop. I have a wedding photo and I'd like to make a circle around the couple, make that a separate image, resize it, copy and paste to eventually make labels.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to clean up/repair a damaged wedding photo to be displayed at a funeral. The photo (about 70 years old) has been crumpled or folded over the years. I have scanned it into the computer and have tried to use the clone tool to remove the fold lines. At a magnification of 200 or less, the clone tools works fine. However, I need to work at about 2000 magnification to remove lines from the bride's face and hair and veil. I cannot seem to get the tool to function at all at this mag. It will give me the dotted line and then change to the arrows but you cannot move ANYTHING.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just started to use a Canon 5DMkIII and have used the camera crop feature set to 4:5 thinking that this is just for viewing purposes during composition of the image in the camera. When I came to import my RAW files into LR4, I realise that the images are already cropped and all I can see is the image between the guide lines in the camera. The camera, however still shows the whole image and so I assume that all the data was captured.
How to get the full frame image in LR?
When I press F for Full Screen and then the fwd. slash to see before/after nothing happens. Is this normal, if so it would be nice to see before and after in full screen.

my camera (Canon S95) has a sensor with 4:3 aspect ratio and thus saves all RAW files in this format. Additionally, the camera can automatically create JPGs with a cropped ratio (e.g. 3:2 or 16:9). This is very useful because you can see the target format already on the camera screen (with black bars on top and bottom), which facilitates the composition. However, when processing the photos on the big screen afterwards, it often also facilitates the photo to adjust the ratio a little bit and therefore use the additional information saved in the bigger 4:3 RAW file. This works very well with many of the freely available software tools.
The problem found in Lightroom is now that it only shows the RAW photo in the cropped format and up to know I have found no way to display or use the full RAW format. So my question is: Which settings do I have to change to use the full format? What do I need to change?
How do I get lightroom 3 to open and be able to see the red, yellow and green buttons on top left?
