In middle of an import via a card reader, LR 4.2 stopped importing. dialogue box said could not read the files. Tested cards and cardreaders for two different cameras - same dialogue box comes up. response is there area many bugs in LR 4.2 and Adobe is ignoring. One Adobe spokes person suggested optimizing and restarting. haven't tried it yet.

Yesterday Lightroom handled a bunch of files from these cameras and today it gives me a message "The following files were not imported because they could not be read." same answer for both ORF (Olympus raw) and jpeg's. The files will open in Elements. Reformattng cards both CF and SD) uninstalling LR and downloading a new install.
I just installed LR5 and to my dismay it gives me an error message that it can't read the files from my CF card reader (CR2) Never had a problem with this in the past on LR3, LR4. LR5 support says I have all the latest updates.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen clicking on Import, instead of the usual tool bar across the top of the screen, as I've seen in many videos, I get a very large bar across the middle of the screen. There probably is a toggel somewhere that allows you toswitche back and forth between the large bar and the normal one at the top. I have been watching a number of videos trying to learn LR but have not come across this issue/option. Currently, I have always moved my photos into a folder on an external drive and then inport to LR. Is that the problem?

Everything was working fine until a few hours ago. Then I noticed that a few shots I took late this evening were being imported into yesterday's folder. So I carefully checked what was going on, and noticed that LR import was seeing an incorrect date and time for the file! For example, below you see the date/time it sees for the first image -- that date/time is wrong.
: LR sees the wrong date/time whether I try to import from camera, from SD card in card slot, or WiFi.
Windows Explorer reads the correct date/time of the files, as does the camera, Playmemories etc. Only Lightroom is seeing a wrong date/time. I even uninstalled LR and reinstalled it, and it's still seeing the wrong date/time in import. I have also formatted my card and took new photos, but same behavior.
LR 3.6 Import function has stopped working. Worked fine one day and stopped working the next. No Files Found to Import yet you can see the files trhough LR in the import step while the little message in the bottom right corner says "Finding Files".

When I plug my card reader in my computer, Lr only sees the NEF files. I know I have both JPG and NEF files on the card, but Lightroom is not seeing the JPG files.

Files are in tact on my hard drives, however after import LR4 is not finding them. They are being read and listed on my backup drive however they will not come up on the main hard drive.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm on a windows 7 HP Z820 and premiere pro as well as after effects CC stopped reading pores files from my black magic cinema camera (2.5k), but the audio still works (and all other players on the system are playing the files properly).
- uninstall/reinstall premiere pro CC - didn't work
- uninstall/reinstall apple codec - didn't work
- shot different codecs (cinema.dng/prores/DNxHD) - RAW and DNxHD kept working
- encoded the camera's SSD's HFS+ on windows / oSX journaled on a mac - no difference
I have Adobe Lightroom version 3.5. When importing my RAW/NEF files, lightroom says my "the following files could not be imported because they cannot be read." I use the option "convert files to DNG" upon import.I have a Nikon D5100.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am no longer able to import any new files into Lightroom. I was in the middle of an import and all of a sudden it stopped and the program hung. I am running Win 7 64 with an i7 with 12 gigs of RAM. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom multiple times (Using both the windows installer and via Lightroom and then searched to see if there were any orpne files on my drive. ) , did a system restore to a point about a month ago, tried importing a simple jpeg file from the hard drive as well as CR2 files (Canon) and even DNG files. Also tried setting up a new catalog with no success. Plenty of hard drive space and no drive errors. There is nothing wrong with the files as I can open them in Photoshop. I can see the files on the import screen though they are not always rendered. When I choose import it just starts, says Importing files and hangs. When I finally give up, and I have waited an hour or more, and kill the process I get the message - No photos or videos were found to import. Other tidbits. Takes a long time to be able to select files to import from the import screen. System seems to run for some time before I can select or deselect (If this were a Mac it would show a beach ball during this wait) Each time I quit or try to change catalogues it asks for the weekly backup (my default) even though I backed it up sometimes as recently as within the past 10 minutes and those backups appear to be valid and in the directory. Every other feature, including Export seems to work I just can no longer import files.

Recently, whenever I am uploading my photos to Lightroom 5, my photos are changing to .dng files rather than staying in the NEF file. When I go and look back at my previous imports from the past few times, they are in NEF and NOT in .dng. View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I went to LR4 and tried to import RAW CR2 files into the program using the usual import process which is pretty automatic. I also asked that copies be saved as DNG files. No matter what I tried, I got an error message saying that the files could not be imported. I use a Canon 5D Mark III. The only difference in today's shoot was that I used and HDSC card instead of a CF card. No other obvious changes. Clearly, this is a serious concern. What amI missing?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am suddenly unable to import photo files from my computer directory into LR 4.3. I have imported thousands of photos previously, but now I get an error message "Could not copy a file to the requested location". I have seen comments elsewhere on forums which says that to solve this the "Destination" has to be set to "Pictures". I can't find anywhere to select "Pictures" in the Destination menu.
LR is now totally useless to me. How can you get to talk to an expert at Adobe? I just get sent round in circles and end up back on the forum every time!! This is urgent!
25/02/13 Solved this myself. Found after clicking on the arrow at the top right, I got a pull-down menu of recently used destination paths, and by ticking the one which showed "My Lightroom Photos/ Pictures" all was well. (My Lightroom Photos is my directory in which I keep all my photos).
Lightroom 2.7 won't import raw files from folder. After I choose files and click they come up as a white file that says (preview not available for this image ) and I can't go any further. Have no trouble importing JPEGS.

This started with Lightroom 3 - where I have tried to delete the preference file and then recreate - no luck, after alot of other things tried, I then uninstalled Lightroom 3 and installed a fresh version of Lightroom 4.2 - and the problem still exists.
