Lightroom :: 3.6 Import Function Has Stopped Working?
Feb 8, 2014
LR 3.6 Import function has stopped working. Worked fine one day and stopped working the next. No Files Found to Import yet you can see the files trhough LR in the import step while the little message in the bottom right corner says "Finding Files".
I have been using Elements for quite a few years and have had no problem in resizing images until last week. I often use the option of resizing using the cm measurements I want. When I tried this on my laptop last week the programme would not allow me to change any of the figures in the resizing dialog box. I tried cm, pixels and percentage and none of them would work.
I tried a number of different images from one file but could not resize any of them however I opened an image from another file which I know i have resi9zed in the past and this time the function worked fine.
I copied the image I couldn't resize to my main computer which also has Photoshop Elements and the resize function worked fine on this computer.
I uninstalled Elements and then re-installed it on my laptop but still have the same problem. I also have Photosphop Cs4 on my laptop and the resize function has stopped working in this programme as well.
My Lightroom 5 has virtually stopped working. Starting around the time I installed the 5.3 upgrade, when I click on anything, the program is non- responsive literally for several minutes. sometimes as much as 15 minutes. For example, I'll click "Import", and have yo wait several minutes. Then when it finally responds, I select the folder on the hard drive that has the photos I want. Several more minutes, I select "Move", and wait several more minutes. The whole process for the simple thing I am trying to do can take a half hour.
I have rebooted my machine several times. I have restored the operating system to a time a week ago when I did not have these probalems. I have reverted back to 5.2. I re-installed 5.3.
My Lightroom 3 has just stopped working. It was version 3.6 and when I went to use it yesterday it just shutdown on me and threw me back to my desktop. I removed it and reinstalled it but the same thing happens.
I have just started using Lightroom 4 and absolutely love it....until suddenly my watermarks have stopped working and are not showing when added or exported.
Within Lightroom 5, I set up a print template for a new Canon ix6550 printer and used it for some months. I happily printed around 40 images.
I sold a few prints, and needed to print identical copies. Up until a few weeks ago, all worked fine.
Then, a few weeks ago, I tried to re-print 2 copies of a single image. The first copy printed OK (it looked like the original), I pressed the 'Print' button once more and the second print came out 'trashed' with extreme increases in saturation and contrast plus a decreased exposure.
I tried altering all sorts of things and printing test strips, but could not get a viable print.
I did not save any changes to the template or to the development settings of the images.
A few days later, I tried again. Without changing anything, the first test strip looked OK, so I went on to successfully print two A4 prints, then the third and all subsequent attempts to print resulted in trashed prints as described above.
Since then, I have determined that if I allow the printer to manage the colours, the test strips look fine. I don't know if I would see a difference on the full sized prints.
So I thought maybe the profile is corrupt? So I downloaded the drivers again from Canon and re-installed - no difference.(Although I do not know enough to locate and delete the originals first.)Should I let the printer manage colours? Will it matter?
I'm a photography student at the Art Institute's online division. I've been working with LR 3 for the past couple of weeks. Suddenly the program shut down; I got an error message from Windows, saying it would keep looking for a solution, but then I couldn't even open Lightroom at all. I was having the same problem with PhotoShop from the Creative Design Suite 5.5.
I uninstalled both programs, then re-installed. Now PhotoShop's fine, but Lightroom is still doing (or rather NOT doing) what it was before, with the same error message.
Oh--one more thing. I recently bought a Nikon D5100, so I uploaded the two software disks when I was ready to transfer photos directly from the camera to my laptop. I don't THINK this is the problem, since I didn't start using Lightroom until after I uploaded the Nikon software, and both worked fine last week. However, just in case, I uninstalled the Nikon software & haven't yet re-installed that.
For more than two years I had no problems that were encountered using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.2 (which was upgraded to Adobe PS Lightroom 3.6). Until last month I could not open my Lightroom v 3.6. with this message on the screen --- "Lightroom -- Opening Catlog Studio Session-003.JPG.lrcat"
To remove the cause which I believed was in the later version of Lightroom v 3.6, I uninstalled Lightroom v 3.6 and reinstalled the Lightroon v 3.2 from the DVD I purchased more than two years ago. After reinstalling LR 3.2, I restarted my computer and after that I double-clicked the LR icon giving me this message: “Lightroom – Opening Catalog: Studio Session-003.JPG.lrcat”
In the box I saw this message:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Close program
I am no longer able to import any new files into Lightroom. I was in the middle of an import and all of a sudden it stopped and the program hung. I am running Win 7 64 with an i7 with 12 gigs of RAM. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom multiple times (Using both the windows installer and via Lightroom and then searched to see if there were any orpne files on my drive. ) , did a system restore to a point about a month ago, tried importing a simple jpeg file from the hard drive as well as CR2 files (Canon) and even DNG files. Also tried setting up a new catalog with no success. Plenty of hard drive space and no drive errors. There is nothing wrong with the files as I can open them in Photoshop. I can see the files on the import screen though they are not always rendered. When I choose import it just starts, says Importing files and hangs. When I finally give up, and I have waited an hour or more, and kill the process I get the message - No photos or videos were found to import. Other tidbits. Takes a long time to be able to select files to import from the import screen. System seems to run for some time before I can select or deselect (If this were a Mac it would show a beach ball during this wait) Each time I quit or try to change catalogues it asks for the weekly backup (my default) even though I backed it up sometimes as recently as within the past 10 minutes and those backups appear to be valid and in the directory. Every other feature, including Export seems to work I just can no longer import files.
I'm new to Lightroom so I might be screwing this up somehow. I pick the Overwrite without warning option on the export function. I've noticed that it pops up the dialog saying X file will be replaced. I click Ok and go to my pictures library and only the unedited original is there.
In middle of an import via a card reader, LR 4.2 stopped importing. dialogue box said could not read the files. Tested cards and cardreaders for two different cameras - same dialogue box comes up. response is there area many bugs in LR 4.2 and Adobe is ignoring. One Adobe spokes person suggested optimizing and restarting. haven't tried it yet.
LR 4.3 was working perfectly till today when I attempted to import some images. I successfully imported images yesterday but today when I click the Import button the screen goes gray and lightroom shows 'not responding'. I have rebooted, checked for updates, created a new empty catalog, checked that there are no video files in the source drive, placed all the image files to be imported into temporary folder on the hard drive to avoid problems with card readers, and still have the same issue.
Occasionally the import page does appear but the source column is empty. When I click the Source + the screen goes gray again and no activity appears other than the popup that asks if I want to close the program or wait. The computer is running Win8, 12gbRAM, corei7/6 cores, plenty of drive space (4tb)
In a book I am working on, the zoom toggle suddenly stops working. It shows up, but moving the slider does not change the image size in the photo cell. I can still move the photo around in the cell, but cannot zoom in or out. I can right click to change to zoom to fill or zoom to fit, but cannot manually zoom in or out from that. Tried changing the default method to Z2Fit and Z2Fill, but neither mode solves the problem. I have been working on this book for a while, and the manual zoom has worked seamlessly up til now, and suddenly it doesn't work. I am hoping I accidentally hit a keyboard toggle to turn it off somehow, and just can't figure out how to get it back.
fwiw the problem cropped up as I started adding photos from another source, which were Nikon-based jpg files whereas all the rest previously added were either digitial scans (jpeg or tiff) or Pentax files (RAW & jpegs). I cannot imagine this has anything to do with the problem, but mentioning it just because its the only thing that was different when the problem cropped up.
I have been using lightroom 3.4 and photoshop CS6 for sometime. However suddenly I cant move images from lightroom to photoshop (Ctrl+E) with the "Edit a copy with lightroom adjustment".
When I click this option, it opens the Photoshop. But doesnt open the image. However the other two options "edit a copy" and "Edit original" works fine.
Also when i add photoshop again as another external editor, it works fine. But as you all are aware this create another copy of the image.
What I did I checked the applications path for photoshop and it was correct. I uninstalled lightroom and reinstalled.
This is pretty weird. Brand new .lrcat, working through a few family pictures. The first few photos, the adjustment brush was working. A few minutes into it, it stopped working, or at least stopped having nearly as substantial an effect. If I push exposure by +4, it looks as if it's pushing it by .4. Same with other sliders - they are barely applied.
Did I hit some button that globally diminishes the brush strength or something?
Note that, in the second image, the adjustment brush is centered on his head. It's a little different than the first image, but certainly not to the extent one would expect from the sliders pushed to their extremes.
Just for a point of trivia, I installed QuickTime while working in LR. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but restarting LR and creating a new catalog did not remedy the problem.
I have a catalog with all photos imported from a trip I just got back from. But when I compare the catalog to the actual photos in the folder, there are 104 pics missing from the catalog. If I try to sync the catalog, it says 104 pics need to be imported, but the import process says there are no new photos.
I created a new catalog and tried to import the folder again, but its still missing the same 104 pictures.
I'm trying out the new Sigma 24-105 DG lens with my 5D M II. The lens profile is not yet in the list of Sigma lenses. I checked and my LR is up to date with the latest version 5.3. Is there a way to find the lens profile to import for LR lens correction function? Or do I just need to wait until LR updates for new lenses?
Photos I am trying to import have the same image number as photos already in LR3 catalog. What do I do....allowing duplications isn't working already tried that.
When importing photos into Lightroom 5, the option "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" doesn't work every time. Even though I've imported some photos from the memory card, when I do another Import, all of the photos have been checked for importing including already Imported ones even though I have the "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" option checked. Why is this?
After I've upgraded to OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, I begin to see the following issue while trying to import .mts files from my Panasonic GH2 SD cards:
1. LR no longer sees individual files on the SD card. I know that this is because ML has decided to treat all AVCHD-related directories as packages and LR can no longer see the indivisual .mts files from the file system. However, Premier Pro CS6 CAN.
2. Even after copying the .mts files to an unrelated directory, LR is no longer able to import the files. I get the "There is a problem with the video file"
3. The .mts files I previously imported into LR 4.1 with Lion no longer plays inside LR. I see the thumbnail but if I attempt playback I get the "there was an error working with the video" error.
There obviously major compatibility issue with LR 4 and ML in relation to video files. I relies on LR for all my video file cataloging needs - now I am unable to do so. All of this was working just fine with Lion.
I downloaded a trial of Lightroom 4 and went to import my Elements 8.0 catalog. It says that it did do it, but with errors...and now when I open Lightroom, all my pictures just show up as grey squares. If I try to import pictures individually, it says that Lightroom already has all my pictures in the Library.
When importing media from my iphone I'd like to ONLY import jpgs, not the mov files. In searching, the sort option in the import dialog on "media type" should work so I can easily just select new jpg files, however this does nothing for me. Is this supposed to work? I'm running OSX 10.7.2 and LR 3.6.
My Photoshop CS4 and CS5 shows "Photoshop has stopped working" . Whereas I have Windows 7 64bit, 6GB RAM, 512MB Graphics Card.
Earlier I worked in this version. But after formating my conputer I could not do anything with only in Photoshop. First I installed Photoshop CS4 it was failed to work then install Photoshop CS5..It also failed to work.
