I STILL don't understand why there are TWO comminty forums for Lightroom;
I am a long time user of LR and have the standalone LR4.4 on my Laptop and destop. I have just registered on the cloud for the full pacage and cannot download the LR5 from the cloud as a message comes up saying words to the effect. This platform does not support LR5.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome old jpgs Lighroom suddenly started to report as unreadable, if I open them in another program they are not unreadable. Tried an optimimize catalog with no luck. Tried to start with a new catalog and import all the pictures again. That went fine, now I can read the pictures that earlier were reported unreadable. The problem is that I do not have my collections from the old catalog.
How do I get them to the new catalog?
Or: How can I make the pictures readable for Lightroom in the old catalog?
I process in Lightroom 4 on a Mac Air when traveling. When I return I want to transfer those processed images to my home MacbookPro computer. I think there is a way to attach the Lightroom changes to the photos and then import them into the home computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a iMac to capture and tag photos as finalist. I then transfer the folder to another machine for editing. When I add the images into the editing machines lightroom, all the tags, ratings, stars, colors don't show up.
When I was on Lr3 on both machines, these tags transferred. Even when a client used Bridge, they showed up. Now, not so much.
MAc OS 10.8.2
Lr 4.2
Camera Raw 7.2
This is true of both machines.
If I select and keyword RAWs (not doing any image adjustments) in L4 on a mac air on the road, how do I later (after moving these RAWs to another computer with L4) export my selection and keywords to it for image editing? Is this possible? Hoping to do the 'boring' stuff on the road, then working on them on a larger computer at home...

View 5 Replies View RelatedAll my images are currently stored on a 3 Tb hard drive and recently I purchased a DROBO with 15tb of memory. At the momeent I am using the Drobo as back up until the 3tb becomes full. That time has come and I want to use the Drobo as the main drive for my images which contains exactly the same files as the 3tb. I also copied the catalog file onto the Drobo so I thought that all I needed to do is open the catalog in the Drobo and it will automatically access the files in the drobo drive but this is not the case as it still accesses the 3tb files. I tried diconnecting the 3tb thinking that it will try to access the files on the Drobo but then I get ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new desktop and want to transfer the files from lightroom on my laptop to my new version of lightroom on my desktop. Every method that I've tried thus far has resulted in the original files being transferred without any of the associated processing.
Best way to simply pass these folders from lightroom on one computer to another.
After finishing with developing an image including cropping, i export it to a Desktop file for emailing. however, the image that gets exported is not the cropped image but the original size.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know this makes me sound like a newbie but in lightroom 3 the raw files were listes as .crw when I imported them from iphoto but in lightroom 4.1 they are showing up as .jpg. Am I doing something wrong? Are these actually RAW files I am working with or is lightroom converting them before I get a chance to work with them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use LR on a MacBook for tethered shooting on location. During the shoot I 'Pick' all of the images that I want to rework and supply to the client as I am shooting. When I get back to the office, I load all of the RAW files from the shoot into my storage array, open up LR on the big computer, and start editing.
What is missing is the information about which images I have 'Picked', so I have to go through and 'Pick' the files again. What is the best way to retain this 'Pick' info when moving between computers? Is there a way to get LR to embed this in the RAW file?
I use lightroom to tether but recently I have not been seeing my image in lightroom. It is stuck on "transferring files from camera." However, the folder I have linked to Lightroom has the image. I have updated everything and have disconnected and reconnected every cable and it is still not working. I don't think it is the camera since I am getting the image in the tethering folder. I want to be able to see it in the Develop section of Lightroom so I can make sure I have the shot and edit if necessary.how to get it to transfer again?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen adding metadata in LR3 I have LR set for 'IPTC and EXIF'. I add keywords, copyright info, etc. Under IPTC I add location info - city, state, description, caption, etc. After exporting to CS5 and opening in photoshop - going into 'File Info', second tab - 'IPTC', the location info fields are blank in the 'Description of Image'. Am I assuming incorrectly that this is the same info from LR and that should 'tag' along to the PS file? Other data such as, keywords, copyright, EXIF, are being transferred from LR to PS.
Would be easier for me to select multiple images, apply the info, sync and go on. I'm having to go back into PS, add the info, export a template and apply that template to each file.
I have little room left on my iMac 'C 'drive and want to move them to my 'D' drive. How do I do this so that Lightroom 4 'sees' where the files are?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMuch has been written about how to create smart previews, and how to work with them, but I am unclear about how to get them from my desktop to my laptop. The smart previews were created in a collection on my desktop. I'd like to take that collection over to the laptop. I have a usb thumb drive with plenty of space. Specifically, what is the proceedure to get the previews onto the thumb drive, and then view them on the laptop, using Lightroom? Further info: The laptop does not have a copy of the desktop's catalogue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to export some files (all morning - note my frustration) to a new stock agency, but when I do a File>Export my Lightroom 4 generated Keywords are not in the files. I have tried to problem solve this on my own and looked online but I am having no luck at all. I am not very savy with all of this keywording protocol to start with. I am sure it is something simple like a box that needs to be checked or unchecked.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI transferred my LR4 catalogue from my Mac hard drive to an external drive. Then, I transferred my original photo files (2012, 2011 etc, with subfolders by date) to the external drive as well. Then I clicked "update folder location" on each main folder. In the catalogue under "All Photographs," most of my photos are offline and when I click "find missing photos" they're still offline. When I click the ? on an individual photo, LR can't find it. But when I find its folder on my own, LR won't allow me to select it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been storing my LR catalog and all photos on an external drive, which is now full. I got a new external hard drive and would like to move everything over. I started to copy and paste the root folder - which has all the photo folders and the LR catalog folder. If I copy and paste everything outside of LR and open the catalog in the new location, will LR recognize the photos in the new location?
I also read that the catalog could be moved to the new external hard drive (with LR closed) and the photos moved within LR by creating the root folder on the new and dragging and dropping each folder in Library mode.
Nikon D800 + LR4 import problem with dual card system:
I am transferring files to my computer (OSX, snow leopard) via USB cable. I am using dual card system with my camera: CF and SD. I am using the "backup" option which means that the content of both memory cards is identical. NEF + NEF with identical file names.
When the camera is connected to the computer and LR4 "import" is opened, LR4 does not show "D800 1" or "D800 2" -- it shows only "D800". This means that I cannot select a card which I would like to import the files from (like I can do with D700 or D3). And most of all, LR4 reacts inconsistently on "Don't import suspected duplicates". Usually, it wants to import all images on both cards -- this means that all files would be imported twice.
At the moment, in my D800, I have SD and CF with 3 identical NEF files on both cards. "Don't import suspected duplicates" is selected. In the import window I can see that LR4 wants to import 5 files: 0474+0474 (duplicates), 0475, 0476+0476 (duplicates). So, out from 6 images it recognizes that there is a one duplicate about to be imported, but those two others are not duplicates?
