I can not get my updated lr 5 and photoshop cc to work together? it will not read my file to "edit in" photoshop cc.I know Lr 5 created a new version of the same catalog from lr 4.4 today.

I have mac OSx 10.7.5 and have just upgraded to Lightroom 4.4, now all my files when I go to develop say 'file cannot be read'
To be honest I am getting quite cross with LR4, I also have issues importing images from 5DmkII and 6D
Files live on a DROBO ext drive.
The reason I ask this is I have hundreds of photos that were taken on a 5D with a scratched filter, so I am treating the marks as dust bunnies and getting rid of them in the same way, using spot healing and for the scratches, whtever the feature is called where you use the spot healing brush but you 'draw lines'.However I am one of the many who suffer appalling performance in Lightroom edits so after maybe 20 spot heals the computer slows down so much so as to be unusable. So I then send the file into PS/CS6 as the same doesn't happen there. I quickly fix all my spots and scratches and then I appear to only have the option of saving the file as a TIF back to LR. What I'd love to do is save the xmp file, and then have LR update the image given those xmp changes.Is this possible or do I have to continue to have the extra TIF file?

I deleted the file from lightroom and now I am trying to import it into lightroom now that I have finished with it in photoshop and lightroom can't read the file. It's like it doesn't exist. I didn't change the file at all. how lightroom can read this file again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI shot using an eye-fi card. The card autmatically generates a xmp file with geodata in it. LR auto imports these images and adds lens correction and a copy right tag.
What I can't do is automatically is get LR to read the xmp file and include this in the catalogue. I am having to right click images and select read metadata from file.
There must be a better work flow then this.
I have read and reread the file for getting the error when changing modules. I have a brand new macbook pro with vs 10.8.3 installed. I have looked, searched everywhere in profile, library. I have even downloaded beta lr 5 and the same issue exists.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to force Snapshots and Virtual Copies to read metadata from the original raw file after an update of the same?
I had to change the lens name on some Leica M9 files to correct an operator (me) error, and I did it by editing the exif data with an exif editor and then forcing LR4 to read the metadata from the file. This worked well for everithing but the snapshots and the virtual copies on which the metadata remain as originally registered, unchanged.
I'm now able to import my Cr2 files and look at in APE11 but as soon as I go to the Editor it tells me it cant. Is there somewhere to also put the new 8.3 update for my 70D camera in the editor?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever I tell LR to edit a photo in PS (CS6), I get back a TIFF file that is 10X larger than the orginal RAW file, and I ultimetly delete it to save space (after first converting it to a jpeg). Why doesn't PS do LR style non-destructrive editing, i.e., why not simply return a record of the edits made in a format compatible with LR?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I am using Lightroom 5.2, and I try to edit a file in Adobe Photoshop CC from Lightroom, Photoshop starts up and after 15 to 20 seconds, I receive the following error message: "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CC could not be launched." If I click "OK" on the error message form, the image finally opens in Photoshop.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom 5.2 and Photoshop CC multiple times, but the edit in Photoshop problem won't go away.
I have a scenario that I can't seem to get working the way I want.
Scenario: I edit a file in photoshop with multiple layers (.tiff or .psd). I then add that file to my lightroom catalog and would like to have it automatically updated in lightroom when making changes in photoshop. I know this is possible when using the "Edit in Photoshop" option but I can't seem to get it working when I had the file in photoshop first.
If I import the file into lightroom and then make changes in photoshop the changes are not applied in lightroom. If, in lightroom, I choose "edit in photoshop" then I get a flat image generated from the lightroom file that does not have all my previously created photoshop layers.
Have some photos of a warehouse fire in Plymouth Indiana. Files were saved as .jpg Can't get them to open.
One message is "Pain't cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file or it's format is not currently supported." Couldn’t display DSC-0023.jpg because a suitable graphics importer could not be found.

After I save a file for "Web & Devices," when I open it, it returns this message, "This file contains file info data which cannot be read and has been ignored." Will this cause any problem with the file once I place it in the website I'm building? I've never seen this message before on a photo I've edited. The changes I made involved color correction.

I am working on Xrefs in autocad, I come across one scenario as below,
AutoCAD application is not allowing me, when tring to "Edit Reference In Place" mode for read only xref file. and displaying below dialog box.
Is there a way to set the preference, that is should not copy a secind picture of the same item once it has been modified in Photoshop? If it is important I would save the image in a different folder from the other program directly. When I return to the library module I would like to see the same number of pictures in my catalogue as they were before I started to manipulate any of the files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn CorelDRAW 12 I created a design with a few bevel effects on simple polygons. I now have CorelDRAW X5 and need to make some minor adjustments to these bevels.
But I can't seem to bring upp the bevel properties anyway and of course canät edit them either.
How can I at least SEE what properties/params were used for those bevels?
It's OK if I can't edit them (even if that would be preferable). As long as I can get to see the properties that were used, I can remove the old ones and create new ones with the same properties (with the required adjustments).
I note that in the object manager, the old bevels appear as "Bevel group" (but in Swedish), while new bevels appear as "Bevel", and the little icon in the object tree is different. The old ones have an icon that would seem better suited for an extrude.
So, I was photographing the moon tonight and shooting in my usual format - RAW. I took the photos into Lightroom and selected the one I liked best. After tweaking the contrast and clarity a little, I decided that I wanted to change around where the moon way positioned - in a way crop wouldn't allow. So I turned to "edit-in" and then selected Photoshop CS6 from the options. All was fine, Photoshop appeared and I began editing. I decided that I wanted to place my moon in a completely different location, so to do this I decided I'd select the area around the moon, copy it, paint over it, then paste the moon back onto a new layer and paste it exactly where I wanted it. I think this is why I'm having issues. All was well and it was time to save. I hit save...suddenly it was taken ages to save. I'm talking at least 2 minutes of save time. Realising that was odd, I decided to check out how big the new file was...nearly 1GB big as a TIFF.
I don't like saving my photos as anything other than TIFFs, but I don't have unlimited storage space.
Why was this file so huge after editing in Photoshop, how do I avoid it/what did I do wrong?
I recently built a new PC dedicated to my photo work.
i7 2600k, 16gb DDR 3 ripjaws, 128GB crucial m4 SSD, (2) x 1TB 7200 HDDs (mirrored), Sapphire Radeon HD 5570.The first month or so of use LR worked great. However, recently I have been getting several errors and oddities.
1) Randomly closes. I can restart it without a problem and pick back up where I left off. There are not warnings or signs that it is about to close.. it just does.
2) "Unexpected end of file". Unable to edit photo. Preview does show, however. I have never seen this error before on other machines.
3) Memory dumps. I assume this is related to LR3 as that is the only program I am actively using when it happens (Chome is always open as well, however) I will have the dump files examined to know for sure.
4) Something new that just started today. In the preview bar on the bottom, as I scroll through the photos I see the previews of other photos.. some photos from other folders I took weeks or months ago. When I hover over the image it changes to what it should be.1 with a photo from this particular shoot and one from one I did over a month ago. Everything I scroll back and forth (rapidly or not) as the previews load it loads the wrong files first, multiple times (around 8 or 9 in a row) and then they slowly change to what it should be.
I am not sure if I am properly describing this error but it is really weird.Also, this seems to only happen on the images off a CF card. I was borrowing a friends D200 as a 2nd body for a party. When I scroll through the images off my SD card I do not see the issue appear. When I get to the CF portion of the folder is when I see the problem..I just updated LR today but these issues occured prior to the update and still exist afterwards.
Do I need to do a fresh install of LR?What precautions do I need to take in doing so to insure my catalogue stays intact?
When I click on a picture to edit (new or old) I get this message. "File name XXXX is offline or is missing" I can not do anything (edit, export, anything!) What does this mean and how do I fix it? Why did this happen? I am still using LR2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that some of my photos are missing from the library in lightroom, specifically the original versions of photos that have virtual copies edited in photoshop in folders that have since been synchronized. Weird, and very anoying. The files are still there (in wondows explorer) but when I try to re-import them lightroom doesn't see them, only the PS edited copies (.tif files). I told lightroom to allow duplicates and it sees all the photos in the folder except those missing ones. This does not happen to my PS edited virtual copies in folders that have not been synchronized. It is not a matter of stacking, or at least Lightroom does not think the PS copies are stacked at all so I can't unstack them. How to get them back into lightroom (preferably with the accompanying development settings) and also how to avoid this problem in the future.
PS: I import files from my camcorder using a different program because lightroom does not acknowledge that particular video file format. That's why I have to synchronize some folders and not others.

the file exists however the open function still returns nil... the file is not read only, and permission on the file appear to be just fine.What other reasons would there be that cause open function to return nil?This is happening only on one machine. All the others are writing to the file just fine.
1) Can I use photoshop SDK to build independent desktop app (not photoshop plugin) to read/write/edit psd file? If yes, is there any license rule I must follow?
2) Can I use photoshop API to build more module to read/write/edit psd file,
then use this core module to build complete web-based app with wonderful flex as front-end and that core module is back-end?
If both above 2 items it not capable of implementing, is there another way to build independent desktop app or web-based app for read/write/edit psd file?
I am trying to move my Photoshop Elements 9 catalog from my PC to my Mac.
I have backed up the catalog to an external HDD but when I connect it to the Mac I can see the folder but I cannot open it. The backup is big, over 200GB, could this be the problem? I have several other backups on the same HDD but the MAC cannot read any of them.
I can open the folders without any problem on a PC. I took the HDD to a Mac "Genius Bar" and they could not open the folders on their Mac either and had no idea what could be causing the problem. I had no problem migrating to the Mac about a year ago when I first got it, but I suppose the backup would have been smaller then.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running on LR 5.3, but this problem persisted in LR 5.2. Working in PS CS6 and Camera Raw 8.3. RAWs are NEFs from a Nikon D600.
I can't figure out what happened but suddenly I am not getting prompts when moving from LR to PS to "Edit Original" or "Edit a Copy".
I reset all dialog warnings and nothing. The prompt will appear for TIFFs but not for NEFs.
It's kind of pointless to not be able to choose to edit an original or copy with LR adjustments for a RAW when they are the file types that retain my RAW editing information.
Plus, when I do click on a NEF and choose to edit in PS without the prompt (it will appear with lightroom adjustments, not as original), it will open a second icon for photoshop on my dock, and prompt me to continue trial? I have a version of PS installed with the serial plugged in, and in LR "edit in PS" for a TIFF will open this primary version.

Dedicated in-house file server on the LAN.
Save a drawing, and close AutoCAD.
Open drawing on another computer, and it says file is in use, and asks if I would like to open as read-only.
The problem is consistent, and happens even if I wait a few minutes to open the file after closing it on the other computer.
After extensive editing I saved the result as an avi file. When I tried to open the newly created file I got the message:
File format mismatch. [1081.1.3]
I have many other video playback programs and, with the exception of Real Player, they all can play back this avi file I had just created with VS Pro X4. The Program GSpot finds no problems with the file.
Emails to Corel remain unanswered and telephone support held me waiting for hours, only to disconnect when it was their quitting time.
