CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: How To Edit Or At Least Read Properties / Params Of Old Bevel Object
Sep 2, 2011
In CorelDRAW 12 I created a design with a few bevel effects on simple polygons. I now have CorelDRAW X5 and need to make some minor adjustments to these bevels.
But I can't seem to bring upp the bevel properties anyway and of course canät edit them either.
How can I at least SEE what properties/params were used for those bevels?
It's OK if I can't edit them (even if that would be preferable). As long as I can get to see the properties that were used, I can remove the old ones and create new ones with the same properties (with the required adjustments).
I note that in the object manager, the old bevels appear as "Bevel group" (but in Swedish), while new bevels appear as "Bevel", and the little icon in the object tree is different. The old ones have an icon that would seem better suited for an extrude.
My corel x5 opens with object properties are set with x no fill and on opening a new document and creating a shape, it has no fill.
My boss opens corel x5 and his object properties are set with x no fill but on opening a new document his properties change and a blue color shows in his fill, and of course when he creates a shape it is filled with this blue color.
Yes, he can just change the properties to x no fill each time he opens a new document but i wondered if we can change it and have it set at x no fill as the default ? I have tried everything I can think of but it seems to want to keep this blue color as the default.
Is there a way to edit the transparency of a dimensioned object? I have many complex objects and sub-objects with transparency fills and all individual parts dynamically dimensioned. I find I cannot edit the transparency of any part that has a dimension. Surely there must be a way to do this...?
My dimensions are color-matched to the fill parts, and the text dimensions and dimension lines are different sizes and weights making it very time-consuming to delete, edit transparency, and then recreate the dimension with all the desired properties.
When I group a few objects together, and apply drop shadow to the group, I cannot edit the individual object in the group (cannot pick it to move it or resize it etc) without removing the drop shadow.
Which tool to use and how to use it for the effect below:
I am trying to simulate the radius edge along the curve such that it looks like it is a 3D object raised off the surface with drop-shadow (c). I want to retain the curved line (b) and the 90 degree corners (a) The object has a three-colour graduated fill.
CorelDraw X5.
EDIT: I am a bit closer using the contour tool but not quite right yet and I can't add a drop-shadow to a contour group and I want to make the 'white' section a bit wider.:
So I powerclip a duplicate of a background image into a text, and would like to create a bevel effect on the text, like this..But I couldn't find out how to do it.When I choose the text with the powerclip image, the bevel tool is grey out so I can't apply the bevel effect.
I'm writing my first VBA apps in Corel Draw X5. I want to modify the standard FileCOnverter .GMS file that came with X5. Every time I try and save changes I'm advised that the file is Read Only. I've also copied the original .GMS file, but I get the same error messages on the new file.
Next I tried to create a new .GMS file by creating a .TXT file and renaming the extension to a .GMS folder (as all of the user guides explain to do). Once again the VBA editer will not allow me to make changes within the file, although it did allow me to create a Macro.
I'm also interested if I can have the .GMS files in a directory other than the Corel Draw GMS directory. It is bad programming practice to save data files in a Program File directory.
Using X5 suite. Just installed Windows 7 on my stand alone system. Now when I make a change to a file and attempt to resave (Save) it, the message box says the file is "Read Only" and asks me to save under another name.
I want to align an object (i.e a rectangle) for example to be in possition x:15cm and y:12,5cm but concerning the edge of the rectangle (or the right/left side of the rectangle) and NOT the center of it.
How to customize the properties of the alignment???
In Xara Photo & Graphic Designer, a program that I otherwise don't need, you can combine line qualities, like thin-to-thick, with brushstrokes (see attached sample). Is this possible in CorelDRAW? I've been trying to find a way, with no success.
have to select an object under an artistic media brush object. i try hold down alt key when select the object under the artistic media object but it select the second object
Is there a way to exclude single attributes from being defined in a object style? As example: i want to define an outline that does not change width of the objects, but everything else.
There is a small tick box right of every attribute with help text "None this object attribute is not defined by a custom style" but i can not mark it. My feeling is, that i need to switch on this tick box to get the result i need, but i can not. When i click on it, it just gives me a greyed out "Revert". When i try to make child styles, there is a way to break the connection to parent style with these tick boxes, but no luck.
Copy drop shadow properties is not working for me. When I click on the object to copy to, it tells me, "you did not click on an object." What do I need to do?
Edit: actually, I'm seeing that this is not working in Contour, either. And it may not be working in other effects as well, although I haven't tested those.
How do I save custom fill properties/gradients so that I can use the same exact gradient on other things? Also, custom fills never go all the way to the edge of things. There is always a little slice that is left white. How do I prevent that?
And while I am asking, can an outline have a gradient?
CorelDraw X6 Patch 3 HF 1 (although this seems consistent across a number of versions)
We've noticed in some of our files (especially files that have been around for a long time) that the Document Properties lists a lot more fonts than are actually used in the file. Additionally, other users are prompted to replace missing fonts that aren't used in the file either.
Is there some way to have CorelDraw rebuild/purge its Document Properties (or at least the fonts)?
Recently I've been having problems with X5 and Xerox Print drivers. After the installation the Color Option in the print properties get's grayout and I can't make any selection. If the customer has the print driver in default for Black and White for him to change to Color I had to install a second print driver. This only happens with Corel X5 and Windows 7.
I have a big problem with CorelDraw X4. When there is multiple pages in one document, and I go to print, it do preflight. If I change print range, or enter printer properties during preflight, program crashes without any warning, and I lose all opened documents.
I have a CDR project I am working on. As I work, I occasionally click the "save" icon to save the work. When I am finished for the time being, I am unable to click on either the "X" or "Exit". The program doesn't respond, and I have to go to the Windows Task Manager to shut down CorelDraw. Because of this, the work is not saved. I have Windows 7, and I also have all of the X5 updates installed.
I am running CorelDraw X6 and I am having a strange issue. I have it installed on a PC with windows 7 64 bit, and CorelDraw is also 64 bit. The issue is that when I have a string of text and I try to edit it via the "edit text" box, it wants to shift the text down a row after closing the box. so if I open and close the edit text box lets say 5 times, the text will be dropped down 5 spaces. This problem does not occur if I use the text tool on the left side toolbox, only if I use the edit text box. Also, I have another PC with almost identical hardware, and it does not have any issues. I have tried installing .NET, C++, and many other tricks to try to fix it. I have reinstalled CorelDraw, and I have up to date drivers for my graphics.
Any success in using Photopaint or Draw to edit PDF's within Acrobat.
I have Acrobat Pro 7.0. When I change the preferences to use PhotoPaint/Draw Acrobat will open the object and I can edit but when saving it wants to save to a new file - not back into the PDF.
We have just purchased X6 and are having difficulty editing a bitmap. Its unable to be selected.
After reading your posts here we have tried the following which we find quite annoying for a new program.
Surely this is something simple we have missed. All we have done is installed the X6 and run the program , clicked on a bitmap and nothing ??? This has really left a bad experience especially when we just purchased this program and it cant even edit an image. The customer support was terrible , I had to ring back because the person couldn't hear me about 8 times. It was only a search on the web that led me here.
Im working on 4 pages and i want to keep the page sizes different on all 4 of them but whenever i change the pages size on 1 page then all the other pages also follow the 1st page.
i went to object manager but i don't know what i should do to stop it.
When having photos in CorelDraw, I need to edit them so I right click on the photo and select "Edit Bitmap". I am not too familiar with Photo-Paint, and wonder if I could link to another application (ie photoshop) to make my bitmap changes.
