Having just got my MacBookPro, installed LR4, sucessfully shared my photo DB from Win XP with this Mac. However, when I attempted to transfer new photos from my SD card to the Mac, LR4 returns an error saying that it cannot read the DNG files on the SD Card?

Import images problem with Lightroom version 2.7, on a Mac OSx. Unable to import from desktop or the download card. . All other functions of the program work. I have tried reinstalling and also using the backup file, with no luck Have over 30,000 images on the program. Is there some sort of limit with this earlier version?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am suddenly getting the error message "No images on the memory card meet the download conditions" when I try to import my pictures into Lightroom 5. My other cameras are importing to Lightroom as always... just fine. I have tried a direct import from the camera and also an import with my card reader and I get the same message. I have also changed cards with this camera and get the same error message.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new PC dedicated to my photo work.
i7 2600k, 16gb DDR 3 ripjaws, 128GB crucial m4 SSD, (2) x 1TB 7200 HDDs (mirrored), Sapphire Radeon HD 5570.The first month or so of use LR worked great. However, recently I have been getting several errors and oddities.
1) Randomly closes. I can restart it without a problem and pick back up where I left off. There are not warnings or signs that it is about to close.. it just does.
2) "Unexpected end of file". Unable to edit photo. Preview does show, however. I have never seen this error before on other machines.
3) Memory dumps. I assume this is related to LR3 as that is the only program I am actively using when it happens (Chome is always open as well, however) I will have the dump files examined to know for sure.
4) Something new that just started today. In the preview bar on the bottom, as I scroll through the photos I see the previews of other photos.. some photos from other folders I took weeks or months ago. When I hover over the image it changes to what it should be.1 with a photo from this particular shoot and one from one I did over a month ago. Everything I scroll back and forth (rapidly or not) as the previews load it loads the wrong files first, multiple times (around 8 or 9 in a row) and then they slowly change to what it should be.
I am not sure if I am properly describing this error but it is really weird.Also, this seems to only happen on the images off a CF card. I was borrowing a friends D200 as a 2nd body for a party. When I scroll through the images off my SD card I do not see the issue appear. When I get to the CF portion of the folder is when I see the problem..I just updated LR today but these issues occured prior to the update and still exist afterwards.
Do I need to do a fresh install of LR?What precautions do I need to take in doing so to insure my catalogue stays intact?
After extensive editing I saved the result as an avi file. When I tried to open the newly created file I got the message:
File format mismatch. [1081.1.3]
I have many other video playback programs and, with the exception of Real Player, they all can play back this avi file I had just created with VS Pro X4. The Program GSpot finds no problems with the file.
Emails to Corel remain unanswered and telephone support held me waiting for hours, only to disconnect when it was their quitting time.
I am trying to download a file to new folder created in Autodesk 360 but this program responses in downloading some other compressed file as you can see on the video. The downloading of this not requested file lasts endless.

Since updating to LR 4.4, I have been unable to download RAW file formats. In addition, normal .jpg files stopped working today! I can successfully still download into LR 3.6 which I kept on my system. I'm shooting with a Canon 1D Mark X and using LR on an iMac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of SAT files exported by my colleague. He is only familiar with and only works in AutoCAD 2008.
All I'm trying to do is convert them to IGES for our customer, but I can't even open them. I get the message "Unable to Read SAT File" in Inventor. I tried Fusion as well, it just crashes out after working for a few seconds. When I try to open the original dwg in AutoCAD 2013 I get a message that the file is corrupted and to run recovery on it. I tried doing so, but then the dwg comes in with no model geometry.
How to open these files or any other workflow? We're going to have serious issues down the road if we can't move data between AutoCAD and Inventor.
I've installed Adobe Lens Profile Downloader and found the lens I'm after but just can't download. The "download" button remains grey and unusable. I'm using Lightroom 3.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from a mac mini to a macbook pro retina using migration assistant and time machine backup. All went well, and since all my photos were on an external drive, no problems there. However, when I try to import new photos, I see the images, but then get a list of the .CR2 files and an error message of "unable to read files." This is a Sandisk Extreme 16 GB SD card, and it still successfully works on the old mac. Following a similar issue in the forum, I checked permissions, and those appear to all be correct. I'm running LR 4.4.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have scanned something in OS X Mavericks (10.9.0) using my Canon PIXMA MP280 and am attempting to add it to my main Lightroom catalog (LR 5.2) but am having issues. I have tried the following formats with the noted results:
.TIFF - Lightroom throws error "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged. (1)" .JPG - Lightroom does not show the file in the import dialog, thus does not even attempt to import it. .PNG - Imports ok.
The .TIFF and .JPG formats seem compeltely intact as they open without any issues in OS X Preview and Pixelmator.
I am a Canon shooter and a seasoned Lightroom user. About a month ago my Mac stopped allowing me to import images from my CF card into Lightroom. I have worked with Mac and Adobe to no avail. At this point I know that my Mac can see the card and will me allow me to download images into iPhoto. It will generate thumbnails in Lightroom, but will tell me that it's unable to read the images when I try a complete import. If I switch users on my Mac to a dummy user, I am able to import the same images off my CF card. I didn't changed any settings, at least not intentionally.
View 16 Replies View RelatedIn trying to import photos, first form a DVD and also from a CF card reader. The error message on my DVD says that there is an initialization error (OK, OK , the DVD with photos was created on another laptop, running on Windows Vista, so it may be a Read Only file). Aside from that, however, my CF card with photos does not even show up on LR3.
I have gone to System Preferences and changed the way I want CDs and DVDs to show. In both cases I changed it to "Open in LR3". Is that wrong?

I use my card reader to download images. In PSE11 how can I be selective in the number of images I download at any one time. Say there are 200 images on the card & only want to download the last 20. How do I avoid downloading all 200 images & then having to delete the 180 I had already previously downloaded?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I download in LR 5 pictures on an seperate drive, LR% (LR 4 hasn't done it) during the download on my main HD a "Backup Download" file is created and filled with full copies of the download. This is not my intension and it fills my main HD Any ID where to stop this or to change the settings. Security Backup has a separate Disk and the catalog settings show the right path.

I've just tried downloading LR4 on my girlfriends computer (my comps HD just failed) - but when I go to download it, I get a message saying "this type of file can harm your computer. Do you wish to continue?" Her comp is a macbook pro 15" and I was trying to DL the mac version.

To be honest I am getting quite cross with LR4, I also have issues importing images from 5DmkII and 6D
Files live on a DROBO ext drive.
The reason I ask this is I have hundreds of photos that were taken on a 5D with a scratched filter, so I am treating the marks as dust bunnies and getting rid of them in the same way, using spot healing and for the scratches, whtever the feature is called where you use the spot healing brush but you 'draw lines'.However I am one of the many who suffer appalling performance in Lightroom edits so after maybe 20 spot heals the computer slows down so much so as to be unusable. So I then send the file into PS/CS6 as the same doesn't happen there. I quickly fix all my spots and scratches and then I appear to only have the option of saving the file as a TIF back to LR. What I'd love to do is save the xmp file, and then have LR update the image given those xmp changes.Is this possible or do I have to continue to have the extra TIF file?

I deleted the file from lightroom and now I am trying to import it into lightroom now that I have finished with it in photoshop and lightroom can't read the file. It's like it doesn't exist. I didn't change the file at all. how lightroom can read this file again?

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust installed Lightroom 4, more than 60000 images were imported. Many of them were duplicates, triplets and so on. I want to have a clean, unincombured library. Should I delete the 60000 images and reinstall the images from my photo digital cards or use the slow process of "X" out the unwanted images? I would like to start improving my images vs removing the unwanted images.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI shot using an eye-fi card. The card autmatically generates a xmp file with geodata in it. LR auto imports these images and adds lens correction and a copy right tag.
What I can't do is automatically is get LR to read the xmp file and include this in the catalogue. I am having to right click images and select read metadata from file.
There must be a better work flow then this.
