I have mac OSx 10.7.5 and have just upgraded to Lightroom 4.4, now all my files when I go to develop say 'file cannot be read'
To be honest I am getting quite cross with LR4, I also have issues importing images from 5DmkII and 6D
Files live on a DROBO ext drive.
i have lots of images on cd. i have tried to import the images from CD. the images are in the catalog. But light room did not save the full image. maybe only a thumb nail and a pointer to the address location of the file. it can not find the file since it knows that it was imported from a cd.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using LR4. I did process a RAW file in the Develop module (i.e. correcting noise) but when I go back to the Library module and selecting this specific image, the corrections do not seem to be applied.
Strange enough, this behaviour seems to be specific to the image (others images do show up in Library with corrections applied in the develop module).
I'm running LR4.1 on Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8, monitor is calibrated with Spyder3Elite.
I was working on a photo in LR4 and I made adjustments in Develop module until it looks good to me. I exported the RAW file to JPEG with sRGB color profile and applied Standard Sharpening for screen. Here's how it looks:
Left side is LR4 Develop module, Right side is Mac Preview, Soft proofed to my monitor color profile.
I have no problem with the color on both applications and I have given up on the amount of noise that is significantly magnified (even exporting without sharpening gives so much more noise than Develop module displays... ) but look at those stars!!
How come the export shows SO many stars while LR4 Develop module sorta "hides" them? The look on Library module is closer to the exports when it comes to the stars only, but the absence of NR makes it way too horrible to look at longer than a second
is there a way to identify the file dimensions while in Develop module, cuz after all these years, I still don't know.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window. How do I recover them? I'm working with Lightroom 5.3. The missing controls are the sliders for exposure, contrast, clarity, etc. I must have inadvertantly clicked something that made them disappear but nothing I've tried brings them back. I've never had this experience in the years I've been using Lightroom (since version 1.1).
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe reason I ask this is I have hundreds of photos that were taken on a 5D with a scratched filter, so I am treating the marks as dust bunnies and getting rid of them in the same way, using spot healing and for the scratches, whtever the feature is called where you use the spot healing brush but you 'draw lines'.However I am one of the many who suffer appalling performance in Lightroom edits so after maybe 20 spot heals the computer slows down so much so as to be unusable. So I then send the file into PS/CS6 as the same doesn't happen there. I quickly fix all my spots and scratches and then I appear to only have the option of saving the file as a TIF back to LR. What I'd love to do is save the xmp file, and then have LR update the image given those xmp changes.Is this possible or do I have to continue to have the extra TIF file?

I deleted the file from lightroom and now I am trying to import it into lightroom now that I have finished with it in photoshop and lightroom can't read the file. It's like it doesn't exist. I didn't change the file at all. how lightroom can read this file again?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI shot using an eye-fi card. The card autmatically generates a xmp file with geodata in it. LR auto imports these images and adds lens correction and a copy right tag.
What I can't do is automatically is get LR to read the xmp file and include this in the catalogue. I am having to right click images and select read metadata from file.
There must be a better work flow then this.
I have read and reread the file for getting the error when changing modules. I have a brand new macbook pro with vs 10.8.3 installed. I have looked, searched everywhere in profile, library. I have even downloaded beta lr 5 and the same issue exists.

I had to change the lens name on some Leica M9 files to correct an operator (me) error, and I did it by editing the exif data with an exif editor and then forcing LR4 to read the metadata from the file. This worked well for everithing but the snapshots and the virtual copies on which the metadata remain as originally registered, unchanged.
When I open a RAW file in the Develop module ACR dsoes not open. What am I doing wrong?

One message is "Pain't cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file or it's format is not currently supported." Couldn’t display DSC-0023.jpg because a suitable graphics importer could not be found.

the file exists however the open function still returns nil... the file is not read only, and permission on the file appear to be just fine.What other reasons would there be that cause open function to return nil?This is happening only on one machine. All the others are writing to the file just fine.
After I save a file for "Web & Devices," when I open it, it returns this message, "This file contains file info data which cannot be read and has been ignored." Will this cause any problem with the file once I place it in the website I'm building? I've never seen this message before on a photo I've edited. The changes I made involved color correction.

Dedicated in-house file server on the LAN.
Save a drawing, and close AutoCAD.
Open drawing on another computer, and it says file is in use, and asks if I would like to open as read-only.
The problem is consistent, and happens even if I wait a few minutes to open the file after closing it on the other computer.
After extensive editing I saved the result as an avi file. When I tried to open the newly created file I got the message:
File format mismatch. [1081.1.3]
I have many other video playback programs and, with the exception of Real Player, they all can play back this avi file I had just created with VS Pro X4. The Program GSpot finds no problems with the file.
Emails to Corel remain unanswered and telephone support held me waiting for hours, only to disconnect when it was their quitting time.
1) Can I use photoshop SDK to build independent desktop app (not photoshop plugin) to read/write/edit psd file? If yes, is there any license rule I must follow?
2) Can I use photoshop API to build more module to read/write/edit psd file,
then use this core module to build complete web-based app with wonderful flex as front-end and that core module is back-end?
If both above 2 items it not capable of implementing, is there another way to build independent desktop app or web-based app for read/write/edit psd file?

I installed AutoCAD 2013. I have done a few projects on it and everything worked fine. But today after getting a project part way completed I saved it and closed it, then moved on to something else. When I came back to it to work on it some more, it told me that it was in use and that I could only open it as a "Read Only".
It was not open by anything other CAD pragrams or anything. What is the problem here.The only way it seems I can work on it again is to do a reboot. I dont want to do this all the time.
why it is only telling me I can open it as "Read Only" when it is not opened by anything else. But it tells me it is in use by another program.
How to do it?
I am using Inv/Vault Pro 2011.
what version on dxf/ dwg does X4 read and output? I have ver 12 and am thinking about upgrading to latest, but still working through the changes.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of SAT files exported by my colleague. He is only familiar with and only works in AutoCAD 2008.
All I'm trying to do is convert them to IGES for our customer, but I can't even open them. I get the message "Unable to Read SAT File" in Inventor. I tried Fusion as well, it just crashes out after working for a few seconds. When I try to open the original dwg in AutoCAD 2013 I get a message that the file is corrupted and to run recovery on it. I tried doing so, but then the dwg comes in with no model geometry.
How to open these files or any other workflow? We're going to have serious issues down the road if we can't move data between AutoCAD and Inventor.
