Lightroom :: Will Not Read A File That It Previously Readable

Dec 2, 2012

I just finished editing a tiff file in lightroom 4, I then edited it in photoshop CS6. I deleted the file from lightroom and now I am trying to import it into lightroom now that I have finished with it in photoshop and lightroom can't read the file. It's like it doesn't exist. I didn't change the file at all. how lightroom can read this file again?

Illustrator :: Error / The File Is Not Readable When More Than One File Open

Feb 20, 2013

Get this error when I try to open more than one file. Happens on different files, but especially on jobs that have side panels on packaging. The files have placed .psd images. Happens on different computers (10.6 & 10.8.2).

Can get the file open usually by closing the othere open file, but then is hard to copy and paste between files. Sometimes I get this when trying to open one file, but restarting Illustrator usually fixes this.

Have tried working directly from the hard drive, and still get this problem. Does to follow an exact pattern, can try to open file a, then b one day thsi will work another will fail. Seems like something is corrupting the memory, and usually happens with more complex files. Happens in CS5 & CS6, though I mostly work in CS5.

Lightroom :: Save PS Edits In XMP File To Be Read By LR?

Jan 12, 2014

The reason I ask this is I have hundreds of photos that were taken on a 5D with a scratched filter, so I am treating the marks as dust bunnies and getting rid of them in the same way, using spot healing and for the scratches, whtever the feature is called where you use the spot healing brush but you 'draw lines'.However I am one of the many who suffer appalling performance in Lightroom edits so after maybe 20 spot heals the computer slows down so much so as to be unusable. So I then send the file into PS/CS6 as the same doesn't happen there. I quickly fix all my spots and scratches and then I appear to only have the option of saving the file as a TIF back to LR. What I'd love to do is save the xmp file, and then have LR update the image given those xmp changes. Is this possible or do I have to continue to have the extra TIF file?

Lightroom :: Auto Import Metadata - Get LR To Read XMP File?

Sep 15, 2013

I shot using an eye-fi card. The card autmatically generates a xmp file with geodata in it. LR auto imports these images and adds lens correction and a copy right tag.

What I can't do is automatically is get LR to read the xmp file and include this in the catalogue. I am having to right click images and select read metadata from file.

There must be a better work flow then this.

Lightroom :: How To Force Snapshots And Virtual Copies To Read Metadata From Original Raw File

Mar 11, 2012

Is there any way to force Snapshots and Virtual Copies to read metadata from the original raw file after an update of the same?

I had to change the lens name on some Leica M9 files to correct an operator (me) error, and I did it by editing the exif data with an exif editor and then forcing LR4 to read the metadata from the file. This worked well for everithing but the snapshots and the virtual copies on which the metadata remain as originally registered, unchanged.

Photoshop :: White Lines Appearing On CS6 LAYERS That Previously Were Not In Save File?

Nov 27, 2013

I Keep having this reoccuring problem today - white lines keep appearing attatched to certain & all layers in photoshop files that I have, the only solution that seems to get rid of them is to put a mask on the layer and mask the line away, these are appearing on text, smart objects & rastersized layers.

They were not there when I previously saved the file and they should not be there now, I then went to open another file I had and white lines started to appear on the files. This is really frustrating because some of the website documents have alot of layers. I have attatched an example below, they only appear to be 1 pixel and can range up to 2500pixels wide and they overlap making the line look thicker sometimes.

Photoshop :: Tool Option Settings Same With New File - Layer Styles Previously Used Automatically Applied

May 8, 2013

I am having the darndest time figuring out what I'm not understanding with this, "bug". (I call it a bug because it seems to be one, imo.)

Specs:
Mac OS X 10.75
Creative Suite 5, Photoshop 5.1

"Issues":
If I adjust paragraph settings, like indents, in one file, those options do not return to default when I start a new file. Thus, I find myself wondering why I have such large gaps between lines of copy or to the left, etc. when I start a new text layer. (This actually happens not only in new files, but in new layers - the latter is slightly more understandable in that it's the same file.)

When a lightbuld goes on for me: "Check your type settings." And, lo-and-behold, there things are: space before or after a paragraph; right or left indents. All settings that used to be cleared when a new file - or a new layer - are opened. This is excruciatingly annoying. If I apply a layer style (e.g., drop shadow) to a shape layer, and then I create another shape layer, the latter one automatically gets all the same style settings applied. That is, the new layer has the all the same layer styles applied to it by default. Meaning, I have to then delete those as they are often not what I intend.

In any case, it used to be that I could choose what I want my own new files and layers to look like, not have previously used settings automatically applied.

Lightroom :: How To Start Editing Previously Edited Image Files

Lightroom :: Removed Catalogue Folder - How To Retrieve With All Previously Developed Settings

Jul 23, 2012

I do not want to re-develop 1000+ photos in lightroom.

Cleaning up my photo directory, i started consolidating and moving folders around in my HDD. However in doing so, I also accidently removed one of the 'catalog folder' in my Lightroom (so the original photos are still there in the physical folder, but i can't see it anymore in Lightroom). Now if I try to import the folder back into Lightroom, all my developed settings are lost (i.e. everything reverts back to the original settings).

I tried using the Find Missing Photos function and the Sychronize Folder function, both does not work with my problem. Unfortunately, my catalog backup is also a week old, so that wouldn't have my recently developed settings?

Any way to retrieve the removed catalog folder with all the previously developed settings?

Lightroom :: 3.6 - Flickr Upload Overwrites / Renames Previously Uploaded Photos

Jul 1, 2012

How do I stop LR3.6 from overwriting previously uploaded photos?

For instance, 3 days ago I uploaded a bunch of photos with their original filenames intact.. ie DSF1000 etc.

In Flickr I changed the filename to something more meaningful.

Yesterday, in LR, I selected 2 photos from the same batch of previously uploaded photos after modifying in Lightroom.

LR reuploaded all the same photos again..with the original file names (which I'd changed in Flickr) which meant Flickr comments and the view count was reset to 0.
