View 1 Replieswhy does the Date Created metadata change when images are exported? How do I stop it from changing? I must have a preference set up wrong.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use LR5 to manage RAW/JPG/MOV files from events where I have taken pictures from. Most of the MOV files do either come from my Canon Camera or from my iPhone.
I regular export the files in a reduced file back to my iPad or iPhone for "public" viewing. Unfortunately LR5 is loosing all metadata from my videos, especially creating date/time and GPS tags.
Is there any way to include metadata in exported (and compressed) video files ? It works in photo's very well.
If not, do you know any other program which can compress original video files from my iPhone and keep the metadata ?
When I export an image it apears slightly less bright outside of Lightroon than it does in Lightroom. This includes web browsers. Am using identically calibrated NEC 2090uxi monitors. Most of the time upping the birghtness by +5-10 will correct this. Occasionally the vibrance needs to be raised in addition. What might account for this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been wondering why my backups (differential) weregetting larger than they should, and I noticed that some of the files (.psd and .jpg, and mayde few .tiff) were modified. Interestingly, I do not see this happening to cr2-files, that I mostly use. After trying to figure out what's going on I noticed that corresponding xmp-files were modified also. This is not the issue due to their small size, but still I had not edited images that were changed for quite a while.
Change that I see in xmp-files is rather large, and presumably related to Adobe's change in xmp-data structure. Eg.
<x:xmpmeta xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/" x:xmptk="Adobe XMP Core 5.3-c007 1.136881, 2010/06/10-18:11:35 "><x:xmpmeta xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/" x:xmptk="Adobe XMP Core 4.2-c020 1.124078, Tue Sep 11 2007 23:21:40 ">
In addition to the sample above, whole xmp structure is changed. So I presume that maybe LR is writing metadata chages to xmp in the background?
What I find disturbing is that when checking changed jpg files, I saw the similar data written into the jpg files also (files were created with oldish Canon 20D, and not edited for quite a while). These are examples from changed jpg-files (not the same from which the abone xmp-data change was taken, but similar change is visible in the corresponding XMP):
Also jpg-file from offset 0x04 was changed from "50 60" to "51 18". Also offset 0x10 was changed (16 bits). I have Lightroom configuration option "Include develope settings in Metadata Inside JPEG, TIFF and PSD Files" not selected. The option "Automatically write changes to XMP" is selected. To my understanding neither of these should not have impact to the issue. Is there something else I should check?
Change is made most likely by Lightroom 3.5 version, and has not occurred with previous versions. I have not notices this happening with 3.6, but I have been using it only few weeks. Is this known issue with previous version 3.5, or am I missing something obvious? System running is Windows 7 pro 64bit. I have not have any issues with LR lately, except crashes that I white about a week ago.
I have an image where I desaturated most of the image, with a lot of small brush strokes around an intricate tattoo. I also applied other saturation and hue adjustments. Upon exporting as a jpg, the image size is 3mb, compared to file sizes of 400-500kb for images without so much manipulation. How do I "flatten" the image to get smaller file sizes?
View 10 Replies View RelatedWould it be possible to automatically set the name of the folder in the "put in subfolder" export option, based on that image metadata (or on a preset, as it is, for example, for filenames)? Maybe a plugin? - image in "summer 2013" gets exported in "summer 2013 jpg" subfolder, where "summer 2013" is taken from the "folder" metadata and "jpg" either from the filetype or manually added.

We often work remotely on a laptop, then come back to the studio and transfer images from a shoot to the main PC for further work. Some adjustments in Lightroom were done to some images in the folder already, as well as rating some of the best images.
It seems the recommended way of copying images from a laptop to the main PC is to use the "Export as Catalog" function with the "Export negative files" option turned on. However, when working with hundreds of files, this process takes a very long time, and also duplicates the images on the same laptop in the export location. This doesn't work well when working with 50GB of files, especially when only a few of them have any Lightroom adjustments anyways.
Is there a way to just copy the entire directory structure over to the main PC (copying files is fairly quick over Gigabit Ethernet), and then export only the metadata for the files (or catalog) over to the main PC so I can keep the adjustments?
In other words, instead of having to do this:
1. Export as Catalog
2. Wait a very long time for the laptop to duplicate all the images and export files
3. Re-import this catalog to my Main catalog
4. Wait a very long time for this to happen
It would be WAY faster to just do this:
1. Copy entire folder structure from laptop to main PC (this is quick)
2. Export metadata from these files only
3. Import metadata to new PC
I would like the file number text to show up on some of my exported JPG images. I need this for the purpose of looking up the original file. All I see in the watermark section is the ability to hard code text only. Is there a way to do this inside LR? Perhaps a plugin?
Alternately, is there 3rd party utility to do this to a whole folder of exported JPGs? That would be messy, but I really need to ID certain event photos ON the photo.
I just noticed yesterday that when I have RAW (DNG) files in my LR5.2 library, I can select the correct lens profile to apply. When I take three of those files and merge them together in Photomatix Pro they come back as a single TIFF file. Now LR only has one lens profile available, and it is the wrong one.
This is happening with my Sony NEX-7 and Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR DI-III VC. With the RAW files, I have a list of Tamron lenses from which to choose, and the correct one is available. For the merged TIFF file, however, only a single Tamron lens is available for selection, and it is not the lens I used.
I would like to embed long text strings to image metadata, in order to copy and paste memories written and related to these images. As an example, I'm keeping a sailing logbook and I would like to add the daily entries to pictures but I have run into problems when sharing images elsewhere. The string length exceeds the metadata standard lengths.
Which standard metadata fields allow longest text strings that I could use for my logbook entries without the fear of losing them when exporting or sharing them elsewhere?
As far as I can tell, Copy Metadata and Synchonize Metadata do the same thing. Is there a difference in what they do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an action in which it will place an image onto an image like a watermark, when i place the image, it is not center by center so i drag it or use keyboard arrows to center and then press enter, then i saw its on the center, but when i save it, the saved image is not on the center, how was that?
you can see that the right side of border it is not centered because the left side border is thicker than right side, here is the part of the action
you can see that i move the image after i place it because its not on the center so adjusting it makes it at the center but the Translate part is not equal.
I have a design in PS CS4 and want to export slices for the web. In the export preview the estimated filesize for the slice is ~200 bytes, however after the export the file size is 4kb.
I have 3-4 small background slices with gradinet and size is 1x200px so the estimated size seems to be ok.
I have alos tried to export in .png and in .gif as well. In all cases the estimation is 200-400 bytes but the result is always ~4kb.
I have my artboard set to 700 px x 700 px. When I export as PNG the file is 2917 px x 2917 px. Why isn't it the size I set?

View 10 Replies View RelatedSeems that Photoshop ignores metadata on a Nikon raw image if the Metadata is written on the camera and not in PS. The powers to be suggest is that you duplicate the effort by writting this metadata in PS. Have a problem with that as why duplicate the work/effort if it is already written on the camera at the time the image is taken. Specifically on my camera I have th eimage comment field as 'Image taken by my name'. When I view a Nikon raw iamge via PS I don't see this field as well as approx 8 other metadata fields/categories. If I use teh Nikon viewing software IViewNX) I see all the metadata. Heres the kicker - if I save the raw image under PS it (PS) will remove all the metadata it doesn't see or know about.

I have LR 4.3 and CS5. I have always chosen the Edit in PS CS5 option from LR for editing individual RAW files. When I save my photo in PS, I save it as a jpg. Once back in LR, I would have to synchronize the folder in order to import that new jpg and it would show up alongside the original RAW file. Well now, after upgrading to 4.3, synching won't see that new photo that was created. It IS in Finder, but LR doesn't see it.
I have expanded stacks and no filters. Is there anything else I have to do?
If I use Filters/Metadata/File Type, no jpg's appear.
The only way I can see the photo is if I use the Text filter and write .jpg.
How can I get the jpg to show alongside the original RAW file again??
I'm also getting the "File must be saved as a copy"in the PS dialogue, when I save as jpg. Before, it would just save it as the file type is different.
Exported photos are 5x larger (3.5MB to 16.5MB)

when i export the pictures alone, they are fine, but when exported in a slideshow they look dull and faded. The black appears about 70% gray (just guessing) and the colors lack any vibrance. Repeat: i have no trouble with the pictures when i export them individually. The preview looks beautiful: black black and snappy colors.
i am not seeing any options on export except as pdf or video, and i've tried changing the resolution to the highest to no avail.
it's embarrassing, because i gave them as gifts to my neighbor's family. They were shots of their mother's beautiful flower-garden on the day she passed.
I'm using Windows 8 and LR 4.3. My watermark does not appear on exported images eventhough the box is checked in the export presets. Also many typefaces available in MAC are not in Windows. Where I might find the same typeface I use on my Macbook and add to Windows?
