I am having trouble with reading xmp files. My assistant edited photos in Lightroom 4. I am trying to view the work in Lightroom 3.I cannot see his edits. We have done metadata>read metadata files
We have done library>previews>render standard size previewsAlso set the catalog settings to automatically write changes to xmp.
How does the “Automatically write changes into XMP” setting relate to DNGs? If I keep this unchecked, is metadata still automatically saved into DNGs?

I have a lot of photos then I intend to make a macro for editing it to make more precise the name of the file is saved in the image.
When you rename the layer and write the name of the letter "Б" is an error and automatically pressed "enter".When you click on a point in AutoCAD NumPad written comma. How can I avoid this problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDuring import of files into LR and you can rename them and write the gps data into the new file name. Is there any real use for this feature? Writing the coordinates into the file name creates just a long name and what else...?
A review of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT3 says, that their gps programm gives not only the data, where the picture was taken, but the sights in the area as well. Is this program available outside the Panasonic environment, too? (I'm using Nikon).
I have to use Word to write captions to be sure I don't make typos and spelling errors. It sure would be nice to have spell check in the Caption/ Descrition field and Keywords. PhotoMechanic offers this. I really would prefer to just use Lightroom alone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter some fooling around with LR4, I went out and bought Martin Evenings PSLR4 'book', did some read and started looking for a photo to play with...
I discovered that all of the photos on my usb hard drive were either write protected or the image type was not supported-they're all .jpg. I had done some Copyright stuff on a few photos the day before...fooled around with import and export and some other exploring.
I have converted a large number of Canon and Nikon raw files to DNG using Adobe DNG Converter (version 8.2.0.94).
Using Lightroom 5.2 I wanted to change metadata in these master DNG files. I import the files into a catalog, select all, modify the metadata, then invoke the Metadata->Save Metadata to Files... For many (but not all) of the files I get the following message:
"Could not write metadata. Unknown file formats."
The DNG files reside on a Synology NAS server. If I copy them to a local disk I do not get the above error. But I would like to make metadata changes to the files on the NAS.
I do not have problems importing or viewing DNG files from the NAS. Why does LR 5 have problems writing DNG metadata to the NAS? How can I fix this?
I use lightroom 4 whit photoshop CS6 when I send any file from my NAS server whit LR4 to PS6 when I want save it take "Could not save because write access was not granted". But I didn't have this problem whit LR3.6 and PS5. I use mac os x 10.7.4

Is there any plugin that reduces noise automatically (or semi-automatically)?
Long time ago, I used a separate tool that automatically reduces noises, but I'm wondering why LR still doesn't provide this feature.
I have a weird behavior of Lightroom today on one particular image.I have this image of a train (portait) that I want to crop to landscape so I press R, do my crop, validate with Enter.I continue to the next image. When I come back to my train image, Lightroom automatically crop it in portrait.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been told that LR5 automatically corrects blown out highlights upon import, even with raw. Also, I was told that LR5 adds contrast to the file upon import, even with raw. The person that said this corrects for this by decreasing exposure by 2 steps and decreasing contrast by -33.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI use Lightroom 4. My problem is that once i have developed a picture it automatically sends a pic to Photoshop CS3? It engages the program and I have to delete the images, one at a time. I have CS6 as well but don't want to delete the old program because it has a feature that I like, that being (the artistic filters always being accessible)

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am organizing photo's of patients in a lightroom catalog. Each patient has a folder with his ID number. These are organised in the catalog according to the pathology. I can import photo's of the same patient after one year and I would like them to go easily in the same folder, with his ID number. Because the catalog with subfolders is large, it can be hard to find that folder. Is there an easy, 'automatic' way to find it, and to put the new photo's straight in this folder?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use Lightroom 5.2 and Photoshop CC. I also use a number of publish services. If I use Lightroom to edit a photo that has previously been published, it will be marked automatically for republishing. If I use Photoshop to edit a photo that has been previously published (in this case a .PSD) and I select Edit Original to preserve layers in the file, Lightroom does not seem to recognize that the photo has been edited externally, and does not automatically tag the photo for republishing. It happens this wal with all of the installed publish services.
Is this normal behavior, or have I inadvertently changed a Lightroom setting that prevents this from happening the way it should? It's quite annoying, and I have convinced myself that previously it did not operate this way.
Import window does not open automatically as it did in LR3?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI did a quick screen capture, and as you can see, the picture on the right (saturated) is the "unedited" version in lightroom, and the picture on the left is the raw file opened (used IrfanView). As you can see, my original file is quite flat, and I like it that way (easeier to edit), but lightroom imports it, and when I click on it to develop, it adds saturation. If I wanted to make it look like the origianl, I have to manually bring down the saturation by ~ -30! Why is Lightroom auto adjusting my images?
I used a Canon 6D to take this picture.
In Lightroom 2, 3, if I exported a file, I had to physically toggled/click on the watermark (well, in 2, there wasn't the option).
I just downloaded 4 and started working with it. I exported a file, uploaded it to my print lab and lightroom4 automatically placed a logo phrase. I did not enter this. This isn't a good option to automatically have this box clicked!
I am playing with the book module and I love it. Hwever, I wonder whether there is a possibility to automatically create captions that show the date of the creation of a picture. More generally any subset of the Exif data would be welcome. This is possible for slideshows, but I could not figure out how to do this with book pages.
Is there a way to automatically insert page numbers?
when importing my raw images into lightroom4 they are automatically editing how do i change this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have AdobeRGB PSDs and camera RAW files, that I develop in LR and then export for web. Does LR default to a conversion to sRGB? I can't find a tick-box for this. All web images seem to get tagged sRGB, but I'm not sure whether this is a genuine colour space conversion, or merely a re-tagging.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Lightroom 4.3 has, in the last few days, started to automatically export files into my Elements 10 Catalogue. When it does it places them in the wrong folder (the same folder every time) and it does so before I have finished processing in LR. When I delete or move the files in Elements10 the photos in LR show the "missing photo" flag.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do I make Lightroom automatically fill out the Altitude field as well, when dragging a picture onto the map? I don't suppose it's all too common to be anywhere above (or below) ground level, and I do believe Google Maps has altitude information in it. Roughly at least. And if I where on a tall building, or in a mine, I could still change it afterwards.
I'm using Lightroom 4.3 atm, can I make it do this?
