I've read some claims that LR 4 gives 1 more stop of DR. I think they really mean that LR 4 puts the DR already present in the RAW file to better use than previous versions, but setting that quibble aside.
I'm trying to emulate this cool sort-of-film-like look that's been so popular lately on various places around the web, namely with decreased dynamical range. In Photoshop you can do it just by adjusting the output levels. How to do the same in Lightroom? The only thing I could think of was pushing the Fill Light slider to extremes, but it doesn't o the job. I'm on Lr3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently updated from LR3 to LR4. My edit in Photoshop preferences are for a psd.
When I "edit in Photoshop" using LR4, Lightroom immediately creates a "filename-edit.psd" file. With LR3, only when I saved from within PS did it create the new file edit.psd file. I like to keep the option open to use "save as" and save just a jpg if I know this is going to be my final edit and not have a psd. Now if I save as a jpg, I end up with an extra .psd file. Is this a change in LR4 or have I not set something that I had set in LR3?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can run any other application on my PC, including DxO which heats all six cores to 52+ degrees C, for hours, but Adobe Lightroom 4.1 gives me a GPF randomly during develop and always during export unless I throttle back the the cpu usage to half-speed? What is it that LR is doing that no other application does that causes a hardware error in my machine? If I just knew which piece of hardware was the problem I would replace it because I love what I can do with LR!

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my Lightroom catalogue, I often need to open a raw (dng) file in Photoshop, work on it there and save the result as a jpeg. The jpeg is then sent to a client after which I have no further use for it, so normally I would delete it. However I find that every time I 'save as' in Photoshop, Lightroom imports that file into its database. The only exception is if I choose 'save for web' in Photoshop. I'm told that this behaviour is wrong - that LR shouldn't automatically import these images.

Is there any way to stop this? I want all of the pictures to be copied to the directory I chose on the main and backup drives, it's a pain going to the backup and moving my pictures.
So as soon as I import my files it automatically applies one of my presets and I have to manually undo them. I don't remember ever setting this up.

I have resete every default setting I can find for any kind of preset.I tried to uninstall by dragging to the trash can (Mac OS) and reinstalled to try and clear the issue. Not sure this was the correct process as it didn't seem to wipe everything out. Don't know what setting got changed along the way. Just trying to get everything back to default so that my photos aren't arent manipulated before I can even get them to the develop module.

Anytime I insert a CD/Dvd or Flash card or SD card, LR launches itself. It takes a lot of key strokes to turn it back off. I have PS, LR, Elements and other programs, that I might want to use. I want to turn off LR and have it only open when I want to use it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLlightroom 4.4 crashes everytime I try to playback video causing the app to close. The video loads fine, I can see the thumbnail, but when I hit play I hear audio for a few seconds, the video doesn't typically play or plays for only 1 second then the app crashes. Video files play fine in quicktime or Windows media. This happened in 4.3 as well so not related to the upgrade to 4.4. Here is what is logged in the Windows error log.

I have no import presets created (verified by the import screen saying "none" when importing), yet LR adds one (the same one) keyword to all photos imported. I have 4.1, but this has been happening in previous versions. How to stop this?? It is very time consuming to always have to remove this keyword.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhy does the capture date in the metadata panel not match the capture date seen in the grid extra view and how do I fix it? The images that I have in my library are digitized negatives and I've corrected the capture dates and times to be accurate; however, the capture date and in the metadata window shows what I've changed it to and the date in both the grid extra view and the Metadata>Edit Capture Time... options both reflect the date the image was last modified. Not all of the images in my library are this way and some show the correct information. When sorted by Capture Time, all images fall exactly where they should in the proper order (based on the changed, corrected edit time and not the modified date). I saved metadata to the file with the new date but it didn't fix it.

Video was viewed in 2013 in LR 4, but after install of CC and LR 5, playback is not functioning.Tried restarting LR 5, the HDD dedicated catalog and exporting a test file. The above error message occurred while trying to reimport the test video (.avi) file.
While in grid view, when curser moves over the thumbnail, image seems to fast forward. After clicking twice on the thumbnail, there is no image in Loupe view. There is kind of a weird black, white and gray graphic.One attempt to start playback resulted in this error message in white text on a black banner, " There was an error working with the video."
When a video file is present in the library, camera card, or anywhere lightroom freezing and the dynamic link manager crashes. This also then causes lightroom to crash immediately. How do I fix a corrupted dynamic link manger?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I've done a reasonable amount of work with dynamic blocks. I have a block with a rotation action and grip to arbitrarily align it. However I realized when trying to combine it with an alignment grip (which actions on the basic or fundamental block rotation angle) that there didn't seem to be a way to some how link a dynamic block rotation action or one of the custom angle properties to a the fundamental block rotation angle. Thus there are two additive rotations at work; the dynamic block one with its grip and the fundamental rotation property.
This can cause some confusion when one person aligns with the grip and another via rotating the block's fundamental property and would also be problematic in the generalized sense if one was trying to select or programmatically read back the net angle alignment.
I have a dynamic block, that represents a stirrup.
I inserted in the block a Block Propreties Table, that have some preset dimensions for the stirrups. The grip of this table I decided to put in the top right corner.

new to dynamic blocks but looking to streamline my wiring diagrams here and have created a block that shows the typical wire styles we use in a simple easy way. I now want to add an overall flip to the entire block and have not been able to find set this. I would prefer to use the same label and go from there. I have included the block to show what I mean. It is only working on the single visible item at the one time. I know this has to be possible just let me know what I am doing wrong. I am running AutoCad LT 2013
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to create a dynamic block for a "Glass Panel" in a balustrade. I need to be able to insert it, in one corner and stretch it in another corner, to suit the staircase angle.
I've created the block, but it isn't working correctly. I've attached a drawing, with the left hand drawing a sketch of how it needs to be. The right hand drawing is my dynamic block attempt. As can be seen, when the block is stretched between the 2 points, it doesn't follow the angle of the staircase correctly (Very slight run off)
