Lightroom :: Why Does 4.1 GPF With A Stop 0x00000124
Jun 22, 2012
I can run any other application on my PC, including DxO which heats all six cores to 52+ degrees C, for hours, but Adobe Lightroom 4.1 gives me a GPF randomly during develop and always during export unless I throttle back the the cpu usage to half-speed? What is it that LR is doing that no other application does that causes a hardware error in my machine? If I just knew which piece of hardware was the problem I would replace it because I love what I can do with LR!

Just finished a quickie test drive of Lightroom 4, shown here for one particularly challenging wedding photo I captured a couple of years ago:

I've read some claims that LR 4 gives 1 more stop of DR. I think they really mean that LR 4 puts the DR already present in the RAW file to better use than previous versions, but setting that quibble aside.

In my Lightroom catalogue, I often need to open a raw (dng) file in Photoshop, work on it there and save the result as a jpeg. The jpeg is then sent to a client after which I have no further use for it, so normally I would delete it. However I find that every time I 'save as' in Photoshop, Lightroom imports that file into its database. The only exception is if I choose 'save for web' in Photoshop. I'm told that this behaviour is wrong - that LR shouldn't automatically import these images.

When I import pictures from a memory card LR4.2 creates a new folder every day in the backup location.
Is there any way to stop this? I want all of the pictures to be copied to the directory I chose on the main and backup drives, it's a pain going to the backup and moving my pictures.

So as soon as I import my files it automatically applies one of my presets and I have to manually undo them. I don't remember ever setting this up.

Whenever I import photos the exposure and other settings are changed. I have resete every default setting I can find for any kind of preset.I tried to uninstall by dragging to the trash can (Mac OS) and reinstalled to try and clear the issue. Not sure this was the correct process as it didn't seem to wipe everything out. Don't know what setting got changed along the way. Just trying to get everything back to default so that my photos aren't arent manipulated before I can even get them to the develop module.

Anytime I insert a CD/Dvd or Flash card or SD card, LR launches itself.  It takes a lot of key strokes to turn it back off.  I have PS, LR, Elements and other programs, that I might want to use.  I want to turn off LR and have it only open when I want to use it.

Llightroom 4.4 crashes everytime I try to playback video causing the app to close. The video loads fine, I can see the thumbnail, but when I hit play I hear audio for a few seconds, the video doesn't typically play or plays for only 1 second then the app crashes. Video files play fine in quicktime or Windows media. This happened in 4.3 as well so not related to the upgrade to 4.4. Here is what is logged in the Windows error log.

I have no import presets created (verified by the import screen saying "none" when importing), yet LR adds one (the same one) keyword to all photos imported. I have 4.1, but this has been happening in previous versions. How to stop this?? It is very time consuming to always have to remove this keyword.

How do I stop LR4 from organizing imported files into a folder by date. Most times when I import files I have already created a folder and sub-folder structure tyat I want to use. I then right click the desired folder and choose import into this folder option. Why does LR4 insist on organizing my already selected destination into a sub-folder with a date by default?

Every time I open a RAW file into Photoshop CS5Â from LR3, it automatically creates and saves a PSD or TIFF file. Is there a way to stop lightroom from doing this? When I used LR2, I saved these files only if I choose to. I always convert my files to jpg after I'm done editing in PS and don't need these huge files hanging around.

CS6 keeps crashing without any previous warning on me-- and taking the whole computer with it-- whenever I've been working in CS6 for 20-25 minutes. By crashing, I mean that first CS6 freezes, then I get a completely blue screen. CS6 crashes whether I edit direcctly from it, or if I go into it from Lightroom (Version 4.1). When I reboot and eventually go back to CS6, my work from all but the last 10 minutes will have been saved.
Â
I never had this problem-- with the same computer, pentab, OS, etc.-- with CS5. I did have this problem when I installed the trial version of CS6.Â
Â
I have tried uninstalling every morsel of code related to my Wacom Bamboo tablet, and that didn't stop the crashes. I have uninstalled and re-installed CS6, and that didn't work. I have updated Windows and all CS6 applications, and still the crashes persist.  I even tried calling Adobe, but after four and a half hours on hold, I had to give up.Â

When I move my cursor over a document tab that is too short to show the whole file name, a pop-up appears with the full file name. The pop-up covers most of the tab, making it harder to click on it. I'd like to turn off this feature. I don't see anything in Preferences to do that.Â

I just installed CS5 Design Premium on my older iMac (OS 10.5.8) and the installation seemed to go just fine. However, when I opened Photoshop to try out new capabilities, it crashed with no image open. I was just checking out the various tools. I opened it again with and was trying to edit an image and it crashed again. I've opened InDesign briefly, but didn't try any new files and it didn't crash. Haven't yet opened Illustrator. Photoshop is the program I use most often. How do I stop these crashes?

I just installed the update for Photoshop CS4 and started removing CS3 from my computer. I deactivated CS3 then used Add and Delete Programs to proceed. Instead I got a window that says I must first stop Adobe Updater from running but I can't figure how to do that and I can no longer go back to CS3 to see if I can find it there. What do I do now?

I've just bought a 1GB Sapphire HD 4850. And to cut a long story short, when I'm using my Adobe products, there is a colour tint to all images. When I had my previous nVIDIA card, I had no problem. When I uninstall all drivers, again there is no problem with colours. But when I install the Catalyst software, I have problem.
Now, I'm a photographer and use Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge regularly. I just upgraded to CS4 which I'm still trying out. (I have no idea if this happens in CS3 as it's no longer on my computer.) I got the card on Friday, shot a wedding yesterday. As you can imagine, I'm not in the best mood. I've searched and searched and it seems to be down to the colour profiling which is enforced. Code:

I have a 580GTX and I think that's a pretty powerful card. With Quadcore 3.6ghz... And iray will never ever stop rendering when set to unlimited? I thought that eventually, somehow it should stop when it calculates everything possible? But there is no progress bar. Despite leaving even a simple scene running for hours upon hours it still has some fuzzy grainy specs in certain parts of image though.
