View 1 Replies View RelatedI have no import presets created (verified by the import screen saying "none" when importing), yet LR adds one (the same one) keyword to all photos imported. I have 4.1, but this has been happening in previous versions. How to stop this?? It is very time consuming to always have to remove this keyword.

I'm totally new to this app with LR4 release.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
How do I permanently turn off auto advance in Library? It seems to randomly turn on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Auto Import to import my RAW files. Each time LR imports my files the Previous Import count number increases. Is there a way to reset this count so it shows a true reflection of the photos from my previous import session?
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you manually import files the Previous Import count number resets itself automatically. I've Googled this problem & this question has been asked before - all users were utilising Auto Import.
When I import pictures from a memory card LR4.2 creates a new folder every day in the backup location.
Is there any way to stop this? I want all of the pictures to be copied to the directory I chose on the main and backup drives, it's a pain going to the backup and moving my pictures.
Whenever I import photos the exposure and other settings are changed. I have resete every default setting I can find for any kind of preset.I tried to uninstall by dragging to the trash can (Mac OS) and reinstalled to try and clear the issue. Not sure this was the correct process as it didn't seem to wipe everything out. Don't know what setting got changed along the way. Just trying to get everything back to default so that my photos aren't arent manipulated before I can even get them to the develop module.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis seems to have been a problem with previous lightrooms and thought it may have been fixed in LR4 but I can't seem to find the option?
What I have a gripe with is why when I am exporting my editied raws into what ever jpeg format I want (highres low res etc) I put these in a folder with in the orgional raws parent folder and call it "02 - High_Res" for example. To then get this to show in the lightroom folder structure you then have to 'sync' the folder. Is there a way to have this done automatically? Is there a way I can just get it to appear with out syncing?
my workflow is to copy all photos from my camera to a folder that is configured for auto import.Lightroom takes these pics and import them to the library. But it does not exclude duplicate photos. If I copy the same photos to the auto import folder again, LR imports all photos again.
Why can't I configure to exclude duplicates as it works with the manual import function?
I would like to disable auto import.
I uncheck "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" under Edit - preferences - Import. However, it rechecks itself when I close lightroom down. Then whenever I put in a storage device -- a memory card, external hard drive, flash drive, etc -- Lightroom starts up and wants to import from that device.
How do I prevent this?
Since I upgraded to Lightroom 4.1 from 3 the Import Dialog screen will not auto open when I insert a memory Cart to my Imac. I have the correct box ticked in the preferences.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got lightroom 3 for Christmas. I cannot figure it out and it's a headache so far. How am I supposed to set up the auto import to the My Pictures folder when I am supposed to chose an empty folder for Lightroom to watch? I must be misunderstanding something because I imagine that everyone who buys Lightroom already has photos in their My Pictures folder.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm seeing a problem in just some of my Lightroom 4 (version 4.3, latest updates as of today) catalogs where auto import just stops working. There are no error messages and Lightroom continues to work, but files in the watched folder just don't get imported. I've optimized the catalog, restarted Lightroom, double checked that auto import is on, restarted my mac (mac book pro running 10.7.5), imported all the photos into a new catalog... still no joy. Also worth noting is that the other import options are greyed out if auto import is on when I start Lightroom for these broken catalogs... but if I turn off auto import, and restart Lightroom, the import photos and videos is enabled and I can import the files from the watch folder manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I clicked, but all of a sudden above the import column in library, where it usually says"source", there is nothing. I clicked on something (arrows?) and am able to get it to give me a limited choice to choose from, but this is not good. when I have my ext HD attached and want to choose from one of the folders, I have to select one folder at a time, wait for pics to appear, then go back and start over if it isn't the one I want. Be4, all the folders showed up in the column (as well as other sources for pics), and all I had to do was click on one, e.g., COLORSPACE 1, COLORSPACE 15, etc, and pics showed up and I could choose.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently created a new catalog and imported all of my files into Lightroom. All my files seemed to come over, including the .jpg files. I then opened a cr2 file in LR and took it to Photoshop for editing. I saved the psd file and it appeared in my library as I expected. I then did a save as to create 3 different jpg files: filename 4x6.jpg, filename 3x5.jpg and filename 5x7.jpg.
None of these three jpgs came back to LR. So I tried to import them. When I click on the "new" option to import only the new files, these three jpgs do not even show up.
One final note, the box for "treat jpg files next to raw files as seperate files" is checked.how I can get LR to include my jpgs in my library?
Is it possible to import BR photo library into Lightroom 4? ( PS Version 5)? If not what is the best solution to organize or combine current folders with LR?
View 6 Replies View RelatedLightroom does not appear to recognize my pics in the Mac iphoto library. I can import from other folders/files but not directory from iphoto. Likewise I can't export a photo back into iphoto once it has been "developed" in Lightroom.
Do I have to change some preferences or something?
I'd like to import my iphoto library into LR, and I've tried to use the method suggest on this page, when I try to make an alias link to the folder, it doesn’t won't give me the option.
I'm running Lightroom 4.1, on Lion.
I've just inherited a 500GB HDD from my Dad and I'd love to be able to work all his photos through LR, although there's no way I'm sitting there and importing each and every directory!
As Google Picasa can be told to monitor a directory (eg My Pictures) and each time a new directory or directories are added, on startup it scans for and locates these new dirs and imports the pictures.
Can LR3 be set up to do this please as it would save me hours if I could just leave it overnight to import all of his pics straight into LR.
I'm using LR 4.3 on Windows 7, 64-bit. It seems to work pretty well in Library and Develop and such, so I don't think there's a performance issue...
When I do a synchronize on a folder (may be 500 files or as few as 20), new files don't show up to be imported. I can look at the folder and SEE the file. It's there. But, it's NOT in the library grid. Synchronize does NOT see the file. If I do an import (separate from Synchronize), the file usually shows up. The file I can't see in the library shows up in the list with a checkmark, so it KNOWS it's not been imported. At that point, I can go ahead and tell LR to add them and it's fine.
ALSO, when I add a keyword to a new file, it doesn't show up when I open the files for that keyword. For example, I take a .dng file edit it, then finish in Photoshop. Saving the file in Photoshop gets it back to LR. I can see it in the files in Develop. I can see it in the Library grid. But it ISN'T in the keyword set. Even if I ADD the keyword AGAIN, it STILL doesn't show up in the files for that keyword. If I shut down Lightroom and restart it, THEN the file shows up in the keyword set. Is there some "auto-update" setting I've messed up?
I'm trying to import images shot on a Canon 650d using two different lenses, the (according to EXIF displayed by LR) "EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II" (kit) lens and an "EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II". Both lenses and the camera should be newly supported with this RC.
When I go to develop module and tick "activate lens corrections" (translating, I'm using the German version) nothing happens. No corrections are applied. I need to additionally change "Manufacturer" from "none" to "Canon", then the right lens is automatically found and the settings are applied.
However, if I save this as an import-standard (press Alt+"set standard"), just this lens is remembered: All imported images get corrected using the last selected lens profile. So if I manually correct an image taken on the 18-55mm lens and save this as default, at the next import all images, including those taken on the 55-250mm lens, get corrected using the 18-55mm profile (at least, that's what LR is showing me.)
It was my understanding that the import preset should be specific not only to the camera, but also to the lens the respective image was shot with.
I shot using an eye-fi card. The card autmatically generates a xmp file with geodata in it. LR auto imports these images and adds lens correction and a copy right tag.
What I can't do is automatically is get LR to read the xmp file and include this in the catalogue. I am having to right click images and select read metadata from file.
There must be a better work flow then this.
