I have a 5 section book which I need to print. I usually export to a PDF then re import into a single indesign document. Then use print booklet to print the book. My problem is that I need bleed on my pages so I have set my page size to O/S A4 (32*22.5) When I export to PDF the pages end up A4. How can I export so the page size remains the same?
View 15 RepliesI use CS4 and when working in Illustrator ( and later taking into a book in InDesign) how do I maintain custom page size with bleed in Illustrator when saving as PDF . I have been told my files are not print ready and have no bleed even though I set a bleed and accurate (custom)page size initially. It seems I lose these when I save as a PDF for Printers to use.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a 6.25 in wide doc in ID, exported it to PDF. PDF printed doc at 5.5 in wide. I sent PDF file to coworker, who printed it to several other printers in office: same wrong-sized results. Packaged and emailed original ID doc to our local printer, who opened my original ID file and--without making any changes to it--exported to PDF and got a perfect 6.25 size! She had no idea why it didn't convert properly on my software, since it worked perfectly for her.
So, it's my software, and it's a recurring problem: I've created other PDF docs in the last few months that printed incorrectly. That's professionally embarrassing, especially since I make quite a few PDF docs for work.
In both my Indesign and Illustrator (CS6), I can set up the document as tabloid size but when I try to print there is no Tabloid or custom size available under paper size of print setup and it will only print smaller. I need to print a page that is 8.5X14 as 11X17 with marks and bleeds. Urgent (for work).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am producing a newsletter that will be 17x11 with a double fold for mailing. I will also save it as a .pdf for e-mailing. I set my document up as 8.5 x 11, 4 pages. I've put in all my text and graphics but when I go to Print Booklet, the preview looks fine, the problem is when I select print I get this error message: "The active document uses multiple pages sizes. Print Booklet works only with documents that us a consistent page size." I rechecked and all my pages are set for 8.5 x 11.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm consolidating several book chapters into one Indesign file, by way of clicking on the thumbnails on the Pages panel and selecting 'Move Pages...' from the contextual menu.
The problem I'm having is that I can't maintain the page flow between chapters on the destination file, resulting in a broken spread between chapters when exporting to PDF. Here's a screenshot to better illustrate the problem, here seen in between pages 18-19:
I've tried turning on and off the following options on both the source and destination documents but nothing changes:
- Allow Selected Spread To Shuffle
- Allow Document Pages To Shuffle
I've also removed all the sections from the destination document (as you can see on the screenshot, page 19 does not have the little black arrow which denotes a new section), with no luck either.
I also tried dragging the thumbnails manually but to no avail; I just can't figure out how to keep the page spreads between chapters together.
Export is weird, maintain size is checked but it dose not give the proper size. My page size is 922x1344, but the image exported is half that size.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter moving a page in my document the master page elements no longer display on screen or in print. If I move the page to a different location in the document the master displays but if it is in the specific position that it needs to be it will not display. The document has multiple Masters and others do work on the page but the one that I need will not. I've tried deleting the page and adding a new one and that does not fix the problem. I've checked and "Hide Master Items" is not checked. The page in question is in position 48 with F-Master applied. If I move it to position 49 it works, 50, it works, 51, or any other it works. If I apply a different master to the page, it works. If I delete the page, add a new page and apply F-Master it still does not work. The only page that this problem is happening on is page 48.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
Indesign CS6: I've years of extensive experience using Master Pages. Now, however, when I insert a single page in a facing page document, the headers shift off the page. I've tried everything I can think of to stop this. I'm not using liquid layout or any of those layout things.
This is very problematic as I do textbooks with hundreds of graphics and I either have to manually move all the master page items on every page after an insertion; or I have to shift all graphics manually to the next page after moving those to the next page, and the next, and so on.
I'm praying this is just a "hey, you must have X set to X and by deselecting it you'll be fine."
(Photoshop CS6)I want to apply one and the same action to all pages of a pdf-file. The pages have a systematic error, too dark.
1. load pdf-file
2. select all pages
3. apply action, in my case change level, to all pages
4. save all pages as pdf-file, in the original page order.
I'm attempting to add page numbers to a 200 page document with no success. How do I add page numbers? This should be a simple process.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI joined two video clips and saved them as a single clip. They are both .mov files. One is 18mb and the other is 15mb, so I assumed the new file would be 33mb. When I save the new file in .mpg, however, it is only 27mb. When I try saving it in .mov, it balloons to over 120mb. How should I save the new clip to maintain the original size and ensure I'm not losing any quality?
Also, when I save the clips it seems to be converting the original 640*480 aspect ratio to 720*480. How do I preserve the original aspect ratio?
I'm playing around with the new generate plugin and running into an issue. I have a pre-existing set of icons that need to maintain a 70x70 transparent background. Unfortunately when I set up Generate the assets are cropped to the pixel dimension of the graphic.
Is there a work around? Or do I need to go through each asset and resize it to 70x70?
I think I've found a bug: PPX6 is not honoring the "maintain size" option while exporting as PNG.
To reproduce:
Create a new 24bits RGB 600dpi image.
Export it as PNG
Check the "maintain size" option (size controls get disabled)
Now change the "resolution" to 96.
Size now shows 0px 0px and scale 1%.
Uncheck the "maintain size" option and mark it again.
DPIs are now something like -491.

This has been an issue for me for a while, not just in CS6. When copying text from Photoshop into Illustrator the font comes through but the size is always about 4 times what it was in Photoshop. Both documents are set to the same dpi. I don't understand where it's getting this arbitrary size info from. Any trick to get the size to come though correctly?
View 11 Replies View RelatedEvery time I launch Xara, I want the page and layer gallery to be at "layer level" mode, however it is only showing it at "page level" mode. Is there a way to make it default to layer level? It can get pretty redundant to have to click on that page to open it every time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo we've been sent a DWG file for a large site, that includes a massive aerial (TIF) image.
At this point it's too large to even work with so I'd like to scale it down (proportionally, so it will still maintain the same aspect ratio).
For simplicity sake, lets say the image is 15,000 x 15,000 and I want to scale it down to 5,000 x 5,000.
The problem is that AutoCAD seems to use that pixel size to determine the actual scale, so when I updated the new (smaller) image, it was also 3x smaller in the world.
How do I scale down the image independently of the size so it will still maintain the same scale in the CAD world? (I'm a 3D guy so this is akin to scaling down a texture, yet having the plane its projected on maintain its original scale.)
In Illustrator I want to maintain the stroke settings while creating several paths with the pen tool. However, every time I start a new path, the stroke settings revert to what must be a default. E.g. I set 16pt + Variable width profile + Basic and stroke a path. When I start a new path, the settings revert to 1pt + Uniform + Basic, and I have to reset back to my original. Other art programs I've used maintain the tool settings most recently used until they are manually changed. How can I get the settings to stay through multiple uses of the pen tool?

And i am doing the same loop again and again with the same results. The inDesign file is large (<8gb) and most of the items inside are embended. I need to create a 100 -150 magazine that will perfect bound. We have an InDesign file that we normally use for a 28 page saddle-stitch magazine. Should I use this same file and build on it? Or should I create separate files for the different sections? Can I bring the sections all together at some point? What about page numbering? I am obviously new to InDesign.

However, when I get to page 6 I get a message 'downloading font' and then the programme hangs and I have to use windows task master to close it down. There are only three fonts being used on the page and according to Font Finder no fonts are missing. This is driving me crazy and I'm fast approaching my printers deadline.
