View 1 RepliesAfter moving a page in my document the master page elements no longer display on screen or in print. If I move the page to a different location in the document the master displays but if it is in the specific position that it needs to be it will not display. The document has multiple Masters and others do work on the page but the one that I need will not. I've tried deleting the page and adding a new one and that does not fix the problem. I've checked and "Hide Master Items" is not checked. The page in question is in position 48 with F-Master applied. If I move it to position 49 it works, 50, it works, 51, or any other it works. If I apply a different master to the page, it works. If I delete the page, add a new page and apply F-Master it still does not work. The only page that this problem is happening on is page 48.

I need to edit page numbers (see below). I have tried to delete, move, copy, and select to no avail.
I know you can add page numbers by going to Type > Insert Special Characters > Markers.. The options listed in Markers are not clickable. how I can edit these page numbers.
I set up a pretty little table of contents for a handbook and wrestled the styles into place. But, for some reason, I have two page numbers that are wacked out to the right of everything else.
The page numbers are set up on the master page and are very simple. It's the same master for all of the pages.
There are two styles at work in the TOC, messing with those doesnt change anything.
Why would these two, and only these two, get kicked off their mark?
I am trying to add page numbers to an existing document. I have tried to add them in Prepress, but all I see is the "Print File Information" and even that is not in a location I want. I have the "Position Within Page" checked.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to create a PDF of a 36 page document. However, when I get to page 6 I get a message 'downloading font' and then the programme hangs and I have to use windows task master to close it down. There are only three fonts being used on the page and according to Font Finder no fonts are missing. This is driving me crazy and I'm fast approaching my printers deadline.
View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
Indesign CS6: I've years of extensive experience using Master Pages. Now, however, when I insert a single page in a facing page document, the headers shift off the page. I've tried everything I can think of to stop this. I'm not using liquid layout or any of those layout things.
This is very problematic as I do textbooks with hundreds of graphics and I either have to manually move all the master page items on every page after an insertion; or I have to shift all graphics manually to the next page after moving those to the next page, and the next, and so on.
I'm praying this is just a "hey, you must have X set to X and by deselecting it you'll be fine."
I quite often need a separate ruler scale on each page of a multi-page document. The only way I know how to do this is to create a separate document for each drawing that requires a new scale.
I request that you add the ability to change the ruler scale on a per page basis within a single multi-page document.
I am using CDR X5 SP1.
This was very easy to do in earlier versions of Illustrator, but now it seems like the only option is to make a separate artboard for each page tile!

how I can get page numbers to print?
Also, It is taking forever to print my 77 page catalog of 1524 photos--does everyone have this trouble? (an hour so far and not even half done "preparing"--this is a small library for me, only 12 gigs... many of my libraries are 500 gigs)
When I do a detailed set of drawings I first start with the overall and ballon the part showing the BOM. The following pages will reflect the detailed parts balloned on the first page. Is there a way, without haveing to manually type in the BOM, to reference which page this detail is on in the BOM?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFrom the File>New I take the A4 - 1 Column template and then add a side by side page and no page number appear on the right page.
If I then add text so that it overflows the pages 1 and 2 and creates two new ones the left hand one now has page 3 but still no page numbers on the right.
If add text to a single A4 1 Column and overflows it creates a second page with page number as expected, if I then convert it to side by side it has the page number on the right.
My question is why it works in the second method and not with the first, when setting up a new document it is the path one would expect to set the pages as you want first.
Is there any way of showing the text areas (frames) just not when you click in them? as one does to show grids.
I have designed and printed a BLURB book in LR4 beta successfully. Although the color was somewhat streaked and blotchy, it wasn't a bad effort, but it does need refinements. How I might add page numbers? Without page numbering, making a book greater than a few pages is not really acceptable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am playing with the book module and I love it. Hwever, I wonder whether there is a possibility to automatically create captions that show the date of the creation of a picture. More generally any subset of the Exif data would be welcome. This is possible for slideshows, but I could not figure out how to do this with book pages.
Is there a way to automatically insert page numbers?
I have a document of 34 pages with page numbering. how can i curve all page numbers? if i curve one page number say 25, all pages get numbered as 25.

I am setting up a template and want my page #s to automatically update when i copy a tab. How is this done? I currently have my "Total Sheets" as a field and that works out fine but often need to add/ remove a sheet to/from drawing and would like the page #s to update.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I'm playing around with Inventors Tube and Pipe to show how to do all of our flexible hose routing throuh our chassis. It is a large assemblly with alot of hoses, so it will take multiple views to show how to route all the hoses. I have done all the routing, but am now looking at how to document it.
I have the parts list setup to show each individual run. So for example if my assembly had two runs, my parts list would look like the following:
Item......Qty......Stock Number.........Description
1..........59".......6295645.................Gladhand to filter hose
2..........120"......6295645................Filter to Control Valve hose
Now my idea is to show a couple of ISO views on the front page, along with the parts list. On the ISO views I would make a bunch of Detail Views on the following sheets, and then in each detail view, I will use balloons to identify which lines are which.
Now say ther eare a dozen pages, I don't want people to search all 12 pages just to find which detail views Item 1 shows up in. Is there any way to automatically show in the Parts List that Item 1 is shown on pages 1,2,3,6,7,9,12 and that Item 2 is shown on pages 2,3,5,7,10,11,12? This list would populate based on which sheets have a balloon for that given item number.
Any better way to document hose runs in a large assembly? In the end the goal is so that someone could pick up the drawing package, know they are running the "Gladhand to Filter hose", find it in the parts list, and then flip to the appropriate pages that show how to route that hose.
I need to create a 100 -150 magazine that will perfect bound. We have an InDesign file that we normally use for a 28 page saddle-stitch magazine. Should I use this same file and build on it? Or should I create separate files for the different sections? Can I bring the sections all together at some point? What about page numbering? I am obviously new to InDesign.

I've turned all the "snap tos" off where I can find any
We're running InDesign CS6 (version 8.0.1) in my office. When we override and delete a master page item from a page then save out the PDF, the deleted item still shows up in the PDF.
Example: We typeset a string of 250 trading cards. Each card is a separate page, in a single InDesign document, and are all based on one of several possible master pages. On the master page for a given card there are some graphic elements like symbols and directional arrows. During typesetting on a card that uses that specific master page we find one of the pointing arrows needs to be oriented in a different direction. We override the existing arrow and delete it, then replace it with the correct arrow (the arrows are placed graphics). The old arrow is no longer visible in the InDesign file. When it comes time to export the file for the printer we run a script that exports each page as a separate PDF. When we proof the PDFs, the card with the arrow adjustment still shows the deleted arrow, it is visible beneath the new arrow. If we save out that page by itself (with the script or manually), this problem doesn't occur. It only happens when we save out the entire set of cards at once or as a single, multi-page PDF. Though we typically use a script for the export, we still get the same result if we don't use the script.
Before I flame off on this crap CC version of ID: Why isn't my art centered when I resize my document? I have the center box selected at the upper left as I always do but as soon as I change the page size, the orientation is top left and all the art is hanging to the right and below my new page size. I'm not doing photo retouching. I can't read any of my menus.
View 31 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a 12 page interactive PDF with a set of 12 buttons (set in the master page) at the bottom of page that relates to each page. When clicked the button should you directly to that page.
I have used this method many times before in CS5 using Go to destination in Buttons and setting each page as a destination. It normally works great.
However, in CS6, once I export to interactive PDF and open in Acrobat Pro the buttons all seem to disappear once you click on the 3rd or 4th page button.
I have stripped the indesign doc back to include no other content - just the buttons, with no rollover effects etc but I am still having the same problem
I can supply the relevant indesign doc and exported PDF. One forum member suggested trying to open it in Acrobat Reader instead and it worked fine. This is OK to a point but I really need it opening in Acrobat Pro.
How can I get page numbering to work correctly?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI made this gorgeous table of contents with nice paragraph styles and a text frame on the master page. I put the text in the first frame and that filled my pages as intented. After that I used my paragraphs titles and the table of contents was done. But now I have a problem because I need to change the page order. I'm completely lost cause now my document is a mess. So is it possible to make a table of contents without using connected text frames because I know that I will have to change page order later and I want to avoid the mess I just made?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to print a double sided document and the printer has me print all the odd/right pages then flip paper and print the even/left pages.
The first page of the index in my InDesign file (page "a") begins on a left facing page in the document - but prints as a right facing page (starts a new piece of paper). This leaves a blank left-facing page before Page A - and the rest of the index prints with odd pages on right and even pages on left.
How do I eliminate this blank page and have "Page a" begin on a left facing page and the rest of the document print as odd-facing pages on left and even-facing pages on right?
I know there is a work around by overriding master page items and numbering settings - but I hope there is a way through InDesign to fix this.
In both my Indesign and Illustrator (CS6), I can set up the document as tabloid size but when I try to print there is no Tabloid or custom size available under paper size of print setup and it will only print smaller. I need to print a page that is 8.5X14 as 11X17 with marks and bleeds. Urgent (for work).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm making a research report on landscape design. The final document would have perhaps pages like 80-90 or so. Earlier I used to make reports and multipage documents on MS Word. While making the contents page, I would have to look at each and every chapter's name, subheading and then add the page number manually. Is there any automatic system in InDesign?
For example if the information about
"Sustainable water management "
is given on page number 63. Then Indesign automatically assigns the page 63 in front of the heading "Sustainable water management " in the contents page?
