Elements 7 used to place my photos in a new document and there was very little resizing to do. now with elements 10 and 11, my photos are placed way larger than the document and i have alot of annoying resizing to do on every one. There must be a way to change this.
View 2 RepliesWhen trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think I've found a bug: PPX6 is not honoring the "maintain size" option while exporting as PNG.
To reproduce:
Create a new 24bits RGB 600dpi image.
Export it as PNG
Check the "maintain size" option (size controls get disabled)
Now change the "resolution" to 96.
Size now shows 0px 0px and scale 1%.
Uncheck the "maintain size" option and mark it again.
DPIs are now something like -491.
PhotoPaint X6 v16.0.0.707Windows 6.1 64bits 7601 SP1
I cropped the attached photo and printed it at 8x10 and the first time there was no problem but, when I tried again the print had horizontal lines spaced at about 1" apart on it. I switched printers but have the same problem with this and another cropped photo. Never had an issue before?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in PSE 10 and when I crop a small portion of an image and accept the crop, it remains a small image instead of snapping to a larger image like it did in PSE 6. I know there must be some way to have the small image automatically made larger rather than having to click on the magnifier and "+" and then on the image until it is a size I can work on. I've checked the FAQs and Photoshop Elements 10 but can't find the answer.

The final file needs to be a 300ppi sRGB jpg.
The print needs to have a large white border so I am 'placing' the image into a new file where the canvas serves as the border.
In other words, I'm placing an 8x10 image into a new 12X14 file.
My question is: how do ensure that the quality of the original 8x10 image is not affected?
My current workflow is as follows:
1. Save the 8x10 as a 300ppi, 16bit, prophoto tif.
2. Create a new file with the dimensions of 12x14, 300ppi, 16bit, prophoto.
3. Place the 8x10 image into this file.
4. Save for web & devices at JPEG, 100 Quality, Convert to sRGB

The images have been taken out but there are custom designed objects (masked shapes) where I am supposed to place my images. When I attempt to place a photo into one of the shapes, using the Place Command, it does not work.

I have a photo, 2000x1500 @ 300 dpi. I cropped the photo.
When I cropped the photo, the canvas dimensions were 9.367inx7.68in.
I then loaded a blank background image and set the canvas size to the same dimensions.
I then copied my Cropped image and dropped onto my new background (canvas dimensions the same).
Now when I view the photo (nero or image viewer), I get white space above and below the photo. Yet when in Adobe, not white space.
How can I copy and paste my edited photo from photoshop elements 12 into a word document?

I create a large blank document (3600x3600 pixels, scrapbook size) and then drag other items onto it to create new layers.
In PSE10, the items I dragged in kept their original size. In PSE 12, they get resized to match the size of the document I'm dragging them on to.Is there a setting I need to change? Can't find it.
This is an embarrassing question as i'm sure it's a basic photoshop tool, but I can't figure out how to take crops out of images, and merge them together to form one photo.
I have 4 photos of individual people, and I want to take equal 'slices' of them to merge into one- but still keeping the image the same size as a photo.
I know that my photo sizes are 3543px by 2362 px, and I know how to crop the images to the right size (885.75px by 2362px) but how to combine them.
Should I be using layers? I'm using CS4
Tif files when cropped and save as, seem to double in size. The crop tool is set at Unconstrained and the value boxes are empty.
e.g - Original 16bit Tif was 228.96 MB, 7304px x 5478px @ 300dpi, once cropped down to 7304px x 2390px @ 300dpi and saved as becomes 405.21 MB.
Using photoshop CS6 extended and OSX 10.7.4.
I'm playing around with the new generate plugin and running into an issue. I have a pre-existing set of icons that need to maintain a 70x70 transparent background. Unfortunately when I set up Generate the assets are cropped to the pixel dimension of the graphic.
Is there a work around? Or do I need to go through each asset and resize it to 70x70?
This has been an issue for me for a while, not just in CS6. When copying text from Photoshop into Illustrator the font comes through but the size is always about 4 times what it was in Photoshop. Both documents are set to the same dpi. I don't understand where it's getting this arbitrary size info from. Any trick to get the size to come though correctly?

I am editing old pictures. To save time I am scanning four pictures at a time. I'm using the marquee tool to crop each picture into their own layer via right click method and choosing "Layer via copy." After I'm done doing this for all four pictures, I have to hide all but one layer, trim the project to the picture size, save it. Then I undo the trim, and start over for the next picture to save.
Is there any easier way to save each cropped section as their own picture/project at the size of their crop without effecting the other pictures? Was wondering if there was a way to crop the portions I want out but instead of copy to layer method, I could just create a new project with that cropped picture?
If I change the size of, say, the "file open" box, and shut it down, then open it again, it goes back to the default small size. Is there a setting that I can change so that the dialog box size stay's to my selected size?
