Suddenly when I save an object in Illustrator and import it into Indesign, I have a white background. How do I save to preserve the background transparency? This has never been an issue before but suddenly started happening. Is there a setting I changed while making a new doc?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to save a .ai file for someone else to use, but when they open my file the layer structure and grouping has been reduced to Layer1 -> <Group> ->all layers. The other person uses CS6(PC) and I use CC (Mac), so i have tried saving as pdf,cs6 with pdf, cs6 without pdf and none of the methods keep the layers or grouping preserved. It's a mess and completely unusable because the other person can't sort through the layers.

I can have have a layer on top that uses the transparency of all layers beneath to control it's own transparency.
Is there a way to do this in Photoshop without using layer or group masks?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, as it says; I'm unable to preserve the apperance of my image as the Layers get Merged.
I have an Object which I intend to slap onto a background, I want the Object to be Faded from one side to the other with 1/4 Solid to the Left and the remaing 3/4 fading out to about 120-140 Opacity in the furthest Right Part.
I've failed to achive this when I use the Rectangle Selction to; select, copy, delete, make new layer, paste.
Repeating that process across the the 3/4 and then changing the Opacity Value of each layer in order to create a Fade effect.
Now here's the issue, when I try to merge the Layers the individual "Strips" change their Opacity Value as the Merge with the other Layers.
I want to Preserve the Appperance the Image have before the Layers are Merged.
I've tired switching Blend Modes but wihtout Success.
I've also tried to without seperating the Image into "Strips" in Layers, using the Gradient to cause a Fade, however it ends up fading all of the Image to some degree (and not just the 3/4), additionally I can't control the exact Opacity Value of the Fade.
Why do transparent objects look different on white background vs no background like the image below?
If I flatten the transparency both sides of the gradient object looks like it's on a white background.
If I print it there's no difference.
I have a logo with a transparent object (trying to achieve a stamped/weathered look), transparency set at 80%. When I go to save as pdf, the object looks jagged and 100% (no transparency).

View 2 Replies View RelatedPS CS6 and Win7/64...We just finished shooting a 3 day conference for 600 people, that involved many break-out sessions. Our folder tree of all the finished TIFFs is organized by day, then by topic, and then by break out. All in all there are 75 folders in the tree, with close to 700 TIFFs.
The client wants both hi-res and lo-res JPGs (not the TIFFs).I have a very simple droplet that will convert a TIFF to JPG, but works only on a given folder, and outputs to a generic folder (so I have to copy these back).
Is there a way to create a droplet that will
(a) walk the source tree and convert the TIFFs of each folder to JPG, as well as
(b) Have PS create a matching tree to deposit the JPGs into the corresponding folders?
I know there's an option to include all folders when doing the conversion, but (b) is the critical element so I don't have to do this in a folder-by-folder basis.
I am operating on a Mac Air Book with the new Adobe Creative Cloud. I am new to Illustartor, so do not know how to use it well. I saved my document as a pdf, however, in the preview, it does not have the background color, but is jjust plain white. How can I save my document so that the color will show onto the pdf?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using a very old version, Illustrator 10. I'm just learning how to use the program and I can't save an image with a transparent background. I tried using "Save for Web" and checked the "Transparency" box (.gif and .png).
The grey and white checkerboard displayed, as if the background would be transparent. However, when I opened the image, it had a white background. It wasn't the entire artboard, just the bounding box. Am I missing something?
Is there a way to preserve curves on DXF export in CS5? At the moment it is converting to lines which is not good for me.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I have text that I would like warp in an Arc. I will be cutting this on a plotter. WHen I use the envelope distort the envelope blocks my text in outline mode. If I go to Effect>Arc the warp only occurs in preview but the outlines do not change as the plotter would see it.
I'm sure there is some way to warp text into an arc and have the outlines remain visible and warped for the plottter to cut, no?
I create a logo in Illustrator. It is 2 colors, black and pantone 287. The gradient is only with the blue color. I save the file as a EPS. I place the EPS into another program, and generate a new EPS file with all the elements and type combined. My printer requires that all the fonts be converted to outline so I open the EPS again in Illustrator. The logo with the gradients has been converted to CMYK and the gradients now appear in the LINKS panel but they are not editable.
Why is this happening? How can I preserve the EPS so that I don't have to manually replace the converted gradient logo EVERY time I have to make a new EPS file?
When i open a PDF in acrobat X Pro, edit object, it open in Illustrator, its coming normal with all editable text, after making the changes saved the file. Again if I open same pdf in Illustrator (from as edit object in Acrobat X Pro) some text fields are becoming outline (The document contains PDF objects that have been reinterpreted: To preserve appearance, some text has been outlined.

I've got Illustrator CS6.
I created a jagged line drawing in Processing, than exported it to PDF. When I opened it in Illustrator it was fine (I turned anti-aliasing off). But after saving it to PDF and reviewing in Adobe Acrobat the anti-aliasing was back on. Is there any way to preserve it? Or is it just Acrobat, that applies anti-aliasing when previewing? Is it possible to print it on paper in it's jagged format?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using CS2 on Mac OSX 10.4. Recently I tried importing a Photoshop image into Illustrator and then matching a color in Illustrator to a color in the Photoshop document. But Illustrator changed the CMYK values of the color in the Photoshop document even though I have "Preserve CMYK colors" checked in the color setup window. Both applications and files are set to SWOP v2.
I don't have the same problem when placing either Photoshop or Illustrator files into InDesign.
I ended up recreating the project in InDesign to get consistent color, but I need to know how to make Illustrator preserve color numbers for the project that will come up for which I need Illustrator features.
working in CS6, OS 10.6.8. I'm working on a 3-color screen print CD label, and the colors will be a white background, plus black and a PMS color. I've been recoloring some CMYK artwork to use in the design, and really liked the results of Recolor Artwork (selecting only black and the spot color), until I noticed that when I selected "tints & shades" it converted everything with black in it to process (which I know Adobe says is why you shouldn't select that option).
But my question is, how can I get the same effect (that is, using shades of the spot color "mixed" with black) without having it convert the shades to process? I'm sure it involves overprinting, but I'm hitting a big hole in my knowledge.
I often drop many pictures onto a background picture. Before dropping them in I isolate the relevant parts using the background eraser. Then drop the photo in. In all my other versions (I'm using v 6 now) the sections that were erased on the pics were transparent such that the photo they were dropped into showed through.
Now the erased sections of the pics I drop in are not transparent but have a solid color.
Where is the setting?
How is it possible, to take the brightness of every pixel from the background, and transfer that to the upper layers transparency. (The upper layer is for example all blue). As I said before, I know that this works. I tried everything out and asked Google a lot of times, but I just can´t figure it out.
What I can remember doing there was just take the blue layer and transfer it to another picture. I was wondering because i didn´t do anything special.
I have a red block and on that block I have some lines which I have in white but they need to be transparent as this design is going to be printed on tshirts of different colours and the colour of the tshirt must show through the transparent lines. Im not sure how to make them transparent though, when I convert the white to tranparent you see only the red.

Now when i save the png it automatically makes the background white, i go through and erase all the white but it is regenerated when i save the png again. i dont think i changed any settings, what do i do?

This was easy in Paintshop but I can't figure out how to do it here. Instead, I seem to have to grab another selection, copy it and put it over the transparent part. Simple enough to do but cludgy. Looked at the manuals and couldn't find a mention.

However, when I erase the part of the background layer (I have no layers below it, and none above occupying the same space), I do not see the chequered transparency pattern, but dark grey. This grey also remains part of the image as if it were a colour rather than being transparent. To be specific, it is the white between the borders of a comic I am trying to erase..

The problem is, the one at the top always reign and doesnt let other stroke effects on masks to appear. I reckon the problem is the background of the solid object. If this is the problem, how can I change the transparency of the background. If not, what might the problem be ?
