Illustrator :: How To Save Background Color With File
Nov 22, 2013
I am operating on a Mac Air Book with the new Adobe Creative Cloud. I am new to Illustartor, so do not know how to use it well. I saved my document as a pdf, however, in the preview, it does not have the background color, but is jjust plain white. How can I save my document so that the color will show onto the pdf?

var saveOps: PDFSaveOptions = new PDFSaveOptions();
saveOps.colorConversionID = ColorConversion.COLORCONVERSIONTODEST;
saveOps.colorDestinationID = ColorDestination.COLORDESTINATIONWORKINGCMYK;
saveOps.colorProfileID = ColorProfile.INCLUDEDESTPROFILE;
doc.saveAs(pdfFile, saveOps);
But got following errors: error an Illustrator error occurred: 1346458189 ('PARM'). What is the correct way to save PDF file with color profile?

Suddenly when I save an object in Illustrator and import it into Indesign, I have a white background. How do I save to preserve the background transparency? This has never been an issue before but suddenly started happening. Is there a setting I changed while making a new doc?

I'm using a very old version, Illustrator 10. I'm just learning how to use the program and I can't save an image with a transparent background. I tried using "Save for Web" and checked the "Transparency" box (.gif and .png).
The grey and white checkerboard displayed, as if the background would be transparent. However, when I opened the image, it had a white background. It wasn't the entire artboard, just the bounding box. Am I missing something?

I'm new to illustrator and having trouble with changing the background color of the working board. I'd like to see how my very simple shapes look under dark conditions (black background).
So, while I was able to change the color of the background, my shapes, along with their fill colors, just disappeared. They're there, "behind" the background and I can't / don't know how to bring them to the front.
How can I accomplish such a simple task ?

am having an Issue with CS6 when saving files. When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?

When opening a file, if you want to change the background color behind the folder icons on the left side of the Select File dialog box, do the following in Windows 7:
From Windows 7 desktop screen, go to personalization and click on Window Color at the bottom of that dialog box. At the bottom of the next dialog box, click on Advanced appearance settings...At the bottom of the next dialog box, under Item: select Inactive Title Bar and change the color to your heart's delight. I just wanted it darker so I could read the folder names easier which are white text.

I have a large (22"x28") poster completely filled with 8 pt text. I have a simple image under the text. I want to change the parts of the text over the image to the image color. Basically, I want to make the image out of the tiny text and delete the image from the background. As of right now, I'm individually selecting text and changing the color, bit by bit. I know there has to be a much better way, this is going to take hours! I've been using AI for a very long time and this is one of the only times I've been completely stumped! I've included a sample image, the actual one is much more involved.

I've designed a logo with a green background (C: 57,5 - M: 15,15 - Y: 99,73 - K: 1,65) in Illustrator cs6. When I want to save my file as .PDF, and I open my PDF file, the green colour has changed (C: 59,22 - M: 12,94 - Y: 90,98 - K: 62,67). When I save my file as PDF I use the standard properties of Adobe (Acrobat 6, PDF 1.5).

Why I'm getting a grey Flare when I open it with a black background, but it's in color when I open it in a white background?
I know that flare works better with a black background, but for any reason it looks grey and it's hard to create effects.

I have an AI file that I wish to save as a mask for an app.
The image has to be:
Format: PNG
Color space: Gray
Alpha Channel: No
I have set the following for my AI file: Document raster effect settings: Colormode: Grayscale
I have changed Edit -> Edit colors -> Convert to grayscale (but the "Convert to grayscale" text is not grayed out the next time I look in the menu, problem?)
I then save the file for Web and Devices as a PNG-24 or PNG-8 (Grayscale, no dither) but no matter how I save it the file info still says that the "Color Space" of the file is RGB. I can't get it to save the file with Color Space: Gray.

is it possible to change the background color [outside the artboard] to a dark grey? because i really dont like having a big white screen while working in illustrator.when you normally work in illustrator, the artboard is indicated by a black border line but when you select the artboard editor tool, the background changes to dark grey, so it is possible and that is the effect im looking for, but then permanently.is it possible to do this via the preferences somewhere, or via a hack?

URL....I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.
how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
