View 3 Replies View RelatedPaint Shop Pro X4 14.2.0.1 Vista 64. Suddenly I cannot erase parts of the background image and create the checkerboard pattern. The erased area becomes white regardless of pallette color settings. Just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind I tried the same thing in my old PSP 7 and the checkerboard pattern does appear when erasing parts of the background image. I have reinstalled the program with the same results.
Solved: Recently recalibrated my monitor. The default color of the checkerboard was so light that it appeard white!! Chose dark gray and all is well.
I must have pressed some shortcut and now the document background between artboards is no more dark gray (as usual) but fully transparent. How to restore this?
I'm using Illustrator CS6 on OSX Mountain Lion.
After filling the inside of a line drawing, (cartoon "shape"), I'm left with the checkerboard pattern that indicates transparency. I'd just like to get rid of that checkerboard pattern so I can view my drawing the way it really looks! Can this be done in GIMP?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen removing a background..your left with a checkerboard background. When you try to take that image with the checkerboard background, and place it over another image..you can't see the image behind the checkerboard (under it)...how does one correct this...so one can see both images, without "any" background.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am currently making a digital scrapbook page and am having issues with quite a few of my png elements. When I add them to the page, they have the white background instead of being transparent. I know that saving files as jpg will create that but these are png files with the checkerboard background. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it. Oh and I'm using Elements 7.0.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhere did the checkerboard go, and how can I get it back? It's pretty useless to see glossy materials without it "glossing" anything but a solid color. ha
I'm sure I'm being stupid and overlooking something obvious, like when people ask where those arrow thingies went (the gizmo).
Why is there a checkerboard background pattern when opening/importing an Illustrator or .pdf doc into Elements?
View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently working on a project that involves... well, white. And you know how it goes.
On a transparent background, the checkerboard pattern is kind of hard to work with. The project, to be exact, are sprites for a game I'm developing, and the 32x32 really limits what I can work with.
EDIT: I just need it to be a different color. Black or grey would work fine.
Why do transparent objects look different on white background vs no background like the image below?
If I flatten the transparency both sides of the gradient object looks like it's on a white background.
If I print it there's no difference.
I have a JPG file with a colored design on a white background. I'd like to extract the design without the background and be able to use it as an .ai file. I tried tracing it and then expanding it, but when I copy the design and place it on a different background, the white background comes with it. How can I isolate just the design?
Here's the JPG with the design I want:
and I'd like to be able to isolate it so I can use it on different backgrounds -- such as:
What can I do to achieve this?
(I'm using CS6 on a Windows 64-bit machine)
I'm new to CS6 and WIN8. When I Open an image from ACR in 16-bit TIFF and select a tool in Image>Adjustment and begin processing, the background changes from gray to a flashing white checkerboard pattern and the images disappears. What have I missed in the setup?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with a transparent image. So, I have an image of someone & I want to paste an image of a transparent heart around their face, which I also have. I open the heart in Paint.net & notice the checkerboard background, which means that the background is transparent. I then copy & paste it onto the image of the person but the heart still has the checkerboard background instead of being transparent & it is covering the face. Also, when I saved the heart image on my Mac desktop, the thumbnail had a white background but when I opened it in Preview & iPhoto, it was transparent.
PS: I have Parallels Desktop so I'm running Mac & Windows side-by-side.
Suddenly when I save an object in Illustrator and import it into Indesign, I have a white background. How do I save to preserve the background transparency? This has never been an issue before but suddenly started happening. Is there a setting I changed while making a new doc?

I don't mean flattening it, that just puts it on a white background, I want to preserve all of the colour information, but just get rid of the transparency.
I have been using the Red Ochre "Selection2Clear" plugin to remove this effect but it only seems to sometimes work.
How do most of you get rid of this effect? I can only see this in my game and I am trying to figure out a way to guarantee that none of my PNG artwork has this.
My default background/work area has been transparent--displayed as a light gray and white checkerboard--forever.
Today it changed to dark gray. It's still transparent, but it shows up on the screen as dark gray. I want it back the way it was. I've read all the solutions on the Adobe forums (using the magic wand, or the background eraser, etc.) and none of them work.
I can't help but think I inadvertently changed some setting,
I'm an experienced CorelDRAW user (so I do have some vector graphic experience) but a noob to Illustrator and trying to evalutate switching. In CorelDRAW when I export an EPS it doesn't matter what size paper the CorelDRAW file uses, the EPS bounding box is only the size of the drawing.
In Illustrator, however, it seems that I have to set the art board to the size of the drawing. Otherwise when the EPS is pulled into another program (like InDesign) the frame created is much bigger than the actual drawing leaving white space around the drawing.
Is there an EPS setting I'm missing somewhere that would make AI set the bounding box to the drawing and not the artboard?
Or (as most of the Illustrator files we'll be working with are created by someone else) is there a way to automatcially set the size of the paste board to the size of the drawing?
Is it possible to re-order your artboards? If so, how?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using illustrator to add some bits to .DWG files from AutoCAD, and then exporting them as .SVG files WITH the artboard. However, when i open them, the artboard has changed it's X and Y from X:0 Y:0 to X:-0.5 Y:-512, the artboard is 512px by 512px.
Also I have noticed that when opening a .dwg file and scaling it on to an artboard, the Y co-ord jumps to -512, but the X stays at 0.Is there a way to constrain these X and Y values so that they are locked at 0?
I have a document with 20 Artboards. When I resize one it only changes that one. I'm in CS5. Is it possible to resize all artboards at once the way you used to be able to do in document set-up?

The document I am working on has two artboards (front and back of a document) and I am trying to center some text on the artboard. The issue that I am having is that when I try to align something to center on the first artboard (the left one) it moves it off that board and aligns center on the 2nd artboard (the right one).
I have about 10 other files with this same set up (two artboards, multiple text boxes) and have never had an issue with alignment. As long as "align to artboard" is selected Illustrator never moves the text box to the other artboard to align it.
Illustrator CS6I have multiple documents that someone set up. I want to make the artboards the same crop size. 8 to 16 page illustrator files, and I'm sitting here selecting each and entering the size manually.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a large wall sticker and I need to "slice" the image into pieces for vinyl printing. Is there anyways to place guides (or slices) and have them be converted to separate art boards for printing? In the past I would make individual art boards the exact size of each object and save them one at a time to send to the printer. Then once the art came in I could piece the wall art back together as I applied it to the wall or glass, But this is time consuming.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to loop thru the artboards (with Illustrator CS5) and only work with the pageItems on the current iterated artboard?
For example, if I have 3 artboards, with 2 textFrames on each artboard. And I add the textFrames sporadically (I add a TextFrame with contents "Text 1" on artboard 1, then a textFrame with contents "Text 2" on artboard 3, then a textFrame with contents "Text 3" on artboard 1, etc).
Artboard 1:
Text 1
Text 3
Artboard 2:
Text 4
Text 6
Artboard 3:
Text 5
Text 2
Is there a way to loop thru these artboards and get the textFrames tied to the appropariate artboard? So, on the first iteration of the loop, I'm looking at artboard 1 and only looking at "Text 1" and "Text 3", then on the the 2nd iteration I'd be working with artboard 2 and it's textFrames "Text 4" and "Text 6", and so on.
If I loop thru only the doc.textFrames, the order would be incorrect, with the way I added each textFrame. Instead of artboard order, they'd be in this order:
Text 1
Text 2
Text 3
Text 4
Text 5
Text 6
