Illustrator :: How To Make A Sine Wave
Oct 31, 2013I started a thread earlier this evening but I think that I accidentally flagged it as "solved" or something like that (I'm new to this forum). So I'm trying this again. I want to know if there's a way of creating a sine wave in illustrator. I've managed to create a cosine wave by using the zig zag effect on a line and choosing "smooth". But I can't seem to find a good way to make a sine wave.

Aug 7, 2012I have a series of triangles along a curved path in Illustrator CS6 (mac, if that makes a difference). I want to make the triangles large as the approach the middle of the path, and smaller towards the ends. The triangles' lower-most corner must remain locked to the path. I've tried pattern brushes, but not only do they distort the triangles, but there's also no way to scale the triangles reliably (to my knowledge).

Aug 22, 2009I'm using ACAD LT 2010. I use the basic Arial font for all text and the mtext command to insert text. On occasion I use some of the standard symbols such as the degree symbol (%%d) and +/- symbol (%%p) among others. When I plot to the printer everything prints fine, but when I plot to PDF using the standard DWG to PDF plotter setup that comes with LT2010 the symbols and usually the entire line that the symbol is on either doesn't plot or it plots a series of boxes for each character in that line. I experimented with a couple of other different fonts and the same symbols. Some plotted to PDF correctly others did as stated above.

Oct 17, 2012I can use the sprayer to make a set of symbols. And then I can break a link between the set and the symbol. Can I recover/make the link again? Not Ctrl+Z immediately after vrealing the link. Imagine that I break the link, them use some tools, move some objects (so, I can not use Ctrl+Z, because I will lose those changes) and then select the set again and ... what? I do not see any way to bind it to the symbol again.

Oct 26, 2012I have a small problem trying a wave to deform my objects properly. I have to make a "repulsion objects" project, i use several duplicate cubes and i apply to them a wave deformer. But i would like that the deformer could move just the entire objects or polygons , not the points because i want the upper face plane and the wave deform the points like i was making a jitter.
I have tested also the displacement direction of the wave with no results. Is there an easy way to make it?

I want to make a series of numbers around the edge of a medallion. I first make a temporary circle (the size of medallion) then curve my numbers to "fit to path". Then I delete the circle. But when I want to edit (make new numbers) they don't fit to the curve anymore. Is there a better way to do this?

Jun 22, 2009I have a number of objects stacked on top of each other and I want to make a hole through them all so that when I save the finished artwork as a web image the hole will be transparent. A bit like a donut but it's not just a circle with a hole in it. It's all these other shapes piled on top of each other.
I've thought about the Eraser Tool but my hole needs to be quite precise (and there are to be four separate holes). I have looked at making a clipping mask but I can only really find tutorials that show me how to clip like making a photo vignette and I've thought about Pathfinder.

Feb 7, 2014I load a PNG in Illustrator. However when it loads it doesn't load right. It loads HUGE. When I try and move it, it says:
"Can't move the objects.The requested transformation would make some objects too large."
Why can't Illustrator just open a bloody PNG and allow me to edit it?!
