I have a document I created in Illustrator CS4 (Mac OSX 10.5.8) with 1/4 inch bleeds.It's a rather small document and the bleeds are very distracting (but I need them for final printing).
Is there a way to preview the document on my monitor without the bleeds? If so, how?
Is there any way to export the overprint preview as jpeg/pdf ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am designing the layout for a 8.5" x 8.5" children's book to be uploaded to an online publisher, and they require a .25" bleed around all the outside edges, except for a no ink area of .125" on the bind side. The document must be set up for single pages rather than spread. The document must be saved as postscript so I can create the pdf using Distiller (per the printer). How do I accomodate a different set of bleeds for facing (even/odd) pages within one Illustrator document?
Here are the guidlines I was given (this is the only image):

Is this even possible? Or will I need to use InDesign? The document is already setup in Illustrator with an individual artboard for each page, and I'd rather not go through the hassle of transferring it all to InDesign. If I must, though, what is the best option for setting it up as an InDesign document, and how can I adjust these bleeds accordingly while retaining a singlepage pdf for saving as postscript?
Is there an easy way to create bleeds and trim marks for multiple objects on the same page?
For instance, I have a playing card that I've tiled across the page 6 times ( so that I can create 6 cards out of 1 page ). Each card needs it's own bleed/trim marks.
I'd also like to have printer registration marks for the page, as I have to print the card backings on another page and then glue the two pages together.
The only way I've found that I can do this is to manually create the trim marks for each object's bleed and just have them all within 1 artboard.
I tried doing it with multiple artboards within one larger artboard, but couldn't get that to work.
Is this something that just needs to be manually done?
Working on Adobe CS6..A sign maker has asked me to submit my artwork for different signs (quite a few of them, in different-sizes) as EPS with crop/trim marks.
For instance: The size of this sign is 24"x24" with a .25" bleed. The Artboard shows the right size, and the crop marks show uo as they should. But once I let go of the Artboard, no crop marks show on my screen.
Any crop mark I try adding via the Object ("Create Trim Marks") or Effect menu for crop marks, both cases would create them around the BLEEDS, rather than the REAL ARTBOARD, which, of course, defies the purpose of a crop or trim mark...
I usually submit files for production saved as PDF w/bleeds & crop marks, but this sign maker wants them as EPS.Is there a way around it, other than create those marks manually?
So I am desinging a business card for a company I work for. The company we are sending them off too obviously needs to have the bleed and trims marks. The only thing I can't figure out is how do I make the bleed marks visible to them? When I print the document it shows me the trim marks but since I have a white background, it looks as if there is no border. Should I add a border to the actual Artboard?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using two monitors with LR5, and the second monitor is the preview screen. I find the preview on the second monitor to be painfully slow in both the Library and Develop modules:
1) If I am the Develop module, and I move to the next photo, and zoom the preview to 100% (or if it is already at 100%), it take a minute, literally, for the preview to display correctly.
2) In the Develop module, sometimes the display does not update correctly at all. If I adjust a slider on the Details tab, however slightly, the preview then updates almost immediately.
3) In the Library module, if I switch the main window to single photo view, and view 100%, then, as I browse the photos, the main window updates very quickly, but the preview window lags behind.
I'm working with Fuji X-Trans RAF files, and this maybe this si the issue? JPGs update almost immediately in the preview window in both modules.
I have an external Cinema Display plug with Thunderbolt, but this one don't appear in the external monitors list in the settings menu. I have only access to Firewire output.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I work on a project in PremierePro CS6 v6.0.5 and put my PC to sleep, Premiere crashes almost every time I boot up Windows again. There is no error number or anything, just a window saying that PP does not work and I only have the option to close PP. So I basically have to quit Premiere every time and load up the project again when I continue working on it, which can take some time if this is a long project.
This also happens with other PC I could test this on. This is happening since the very first version of PP CS6. I had a chance to test PP CS5.5 on this issue and this was not a problem their. I was testing with Win7.
I already submitted this bug quite a while ago, but all the updates did not solve this problem.
There is also another bug I noticed related to the second monitor preview in PP CS6, that also is not getting addressed for quite some time. When using a dual monitor setup the full screen preview on the second monitor does not minimize if I minimize PP by clicking on the PP icon in the taksbar. If I use the minimize button in the PP window (top right) the preview on the second monitor stays in the background as it should. Also if PP is minimized and I am working with another application (reading a PDF or surfing the web fo example) the PP full screen preview appears after a while on its own and blocks the second monitor. So I have to go to the PP window and back the the application I want to work in in order to get rid of the preview monitor being blocked.Here you can see what I mean: [URL]
This issue has also been tested on other machines with Win7 and they all had this problem. This two issues are obviously not related to my setup because I can reproduce them on other machines.
I'm having trouble getting both of my printers to print out to the same tone/colour that is displayed on my Monitor. Neither are accurate
Is there anything I can do with my monitor settings, or my photoshop/illustrator colour settings so that what I see on the screen is what will be printed out.
The printers are :
1) Hewlett Packard 1220C
2)Epson Stylus 2100
They both print out differently.
For the HP printer I've looked at the 'Image Colour Management' and it states the 'ICM is handled by host'
For the Epson printer the Colour Management is set to 'Automatic: Windows will automatically select the best colour profile from the list of associated color profiles'
I know it's possible to change the Color Setting in Photoshop but I don't really know what to set it to, and who to set it so it's as close to my monitor display as possible. (I work with RGB colour)
I could not see the preview in the icons of the autocad documents. How can I restore?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot see the full spectrum of my document size in print preview. I have my document setup as 8ft. X 5 ft.
But when i try to see it in print preview it only shows my document between 3 1/2 ft. to 4 1/2 ft.
When you open a file or import a file the preview window image is blurred. It was not that way in X5.

I have a book cover which I am preparing for printing...I have been told I have to extend the boundary of the artwork for 3mm to allow room for trimming (bleeds). I would like to copy 3mm from the edge of the existing artwork and paste all around the edge of the artwork to extend the boundary by 3mm but GIMP won't let me do this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having issue with a simple project. It's a simple green chroma keying project which looks ok inside Premiere, but once exported it turns into a nightmare. I will post screens instead of writing the details. I am not using any external plugins. The output is rendered with tweaked settings for H.264 Vimeo 720p 29.97 fps MP4 format. I'm working with an NDA, but the problem is only in the shadows as far as I can tell.

Why can't I drop a clip in the Program Monitor from the Source Monitor in Premiere? When I try to move a clip from the Source to the Program Monitor, a hand displays with the "circle with a line through it" symbol.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is a Font Preview plugin available that will do what Illustrator SHOULD HAVE done for many years - which is to actually allow you to toggle through your font list and display the text you entered in the fonts you are clicking through - - kind of like what CorelDraw has had for the last 15 years.
Imagine that... being able to review text in a selected font to facillitate the selection of an appropriate visual reference for logos, etc. Earth-shaking, I know.it seems there would be an Illustrator plugin by now that would do this???
Or do I have to continue to have CorelDraw opened up so that I can review text in various fonts to determine the best choice for a given project font?
I'm designing a user interface for iPad (Resolution: 1024x768, DPI:132). Setting the resolution is a piece of cake but when I change the ruler unit to Centimeters, it shows the screen about 36x27cm which is not right (iPad screen is 24.3x19cm).
Illustrator calculates these lengths based on the DPI. But when creating a new document the only available DPI's are: 72, 150, 300 (File > New > Raster Effect). I know that Illustrator is a vector design program but there must be a way to set the DPI to an arbitrary value.
How can I have a 1024x768px artboard in Illustrator that is 24.3x19cm? (DPI=132)
I have no choice of a Mac preview when I save to eps. in CS5.

Also, any way to scale by other unit besides percentage? So I have a shape that's 374 pixels across. I want to scale it proportionally to 800 pixels across. (traditionally, I just whip out the ol' proportional alegbra equation to convert to percentage)
how to use document profiles? I noticed a yellow ! triangle when I selected RGB as the color space for a new document. When I clicked on it, I was informed that my new document didn't match the document profile, and now I am wondering whether I should ignore that, or get up to speed on how to use/create document profiles.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have always had multiple files open at a time when using illustrator but all day today the program has been freezing everytime i open more than one document. I am able to use the program now if i only have one file open but it freezes as soon as i open the second file. I have restarted my computer twice and i have closed every other program on my computer. I have a macbook pro and i save all of my illustrator files on an external hard drive.

The owner wants to keep the design but reduce it to a single-sheet double sided one third of A4. So I just did the edits and and made the leaflet into three on a page; like this:
My question is how can I put a cut mark in the page. I am guessing that the leaflets can be cut as required. Or is that not a good thing to do and should I put them on a standard compliment slip size?
I created a custom resource as xml . and browsed .xml file, I am able to see this browsed xml file in my Resource Browser. actully this xml file I want to used for custom plugin. but i am not able to get how can i access this xml resource file as xml document ? Becuase i have to read this xml resource file as xml document.
one thing more after build my pluing when i opened my .aip file in notepad++ , This xml data is appended as the part of .aip file. I am working with AI CS6
whenever I do pretty much anything (eg. when applying any of the Illustrator Effects) in Illustrator, to have to turn on the 'Preview' checkbox every time. Obviously I want to see a preview of what I'm doing. I can't find anything in the preferences to fix this - is there any way of making preview ON by default? I guess this is a relic of the ancient core of Illustrator, when adding something like a soft shadow would make those Macintosh Classics grind to a halt.
Unfortunately this is one of those impossible-to-Google questions - any permutation of "illustrator", "preview", "default" gives me thousands of unrealted search results!
