View 1 RepliesI'm wondering if there is a Font Preview plugin available that will do what Illustrator SHOULD HAVE done for many years - which is to actually allow you to toggle through your font list and display the text you entered in the fonts you are clicking through - - kind of like what CorelDraw has had for the last 15 years.
Imagine that... being able to review text in a selected font to facillitate the selection of an appropriate visual reference for logos, etc. Earth-shaking, I know.it seems there would be an Illustrator plugin by now that would do this???
Or do I have to continue to have CorelDraw opened up so that I can review text in various fonts to determine the best choice for a given project font?
whenever I do pretty much anything (eg. when applying any of the Illustrator Effects) in Illustrator, to have to turn on the 'Preview' checkbox every time. Obviously I want to see a preview of what I'm doing. I can't find anything in the preferences to fix this - is there any way of making preview ON by default? I guess this is a relic of the ancient core of Illustrator, when adding something like a soft shadow would make those Macintosh Classics grind to a halt.
Unfortunately this is one of those impossible-to-Google questions - any permutation of "illustrator", "preview", "default" gives me thousands of unrealted search results!
Just upgraded to CC on Windows 7 and noticed the font preview is now much smaller than in CS6. I have it set to size large in preferences, but I'm having a terrible time seeing them. Is there anyway to make the preview bigger? I set it to small and medium just to see and I have to wonder what the programmers were thinking when they set previews this small. Why can't they just give us an option to select what point size we want to preview the fonts at?

I opened a illustrator file with a linked jpeg in it.
I updated the jpeg and the new file (working jpeg) didn't preview and at the same other images in that file and basically in every illustrator file i've made stopped to show up. Now I cannot place or update any image links.
I already tried to uninstall (with preferences) the whole illustrator and reinstall it but nothing shows up. Only image I got to preview is a binary coded eps.
While in Illustrator cc, when I place a tiff from Photoshop, the preview does not show up. So today I was placing images and everything was working perfect until I wanted to place another image, all of the sudden I couldn't see a preview again. I could see a preview of the other files I placed but not this one? I check PS preferences "always show preview" is clicked. Not sure what to do, is this a bug?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having a little trouble with the pdf I created in Illustrator. See images below for explanation. It's only happening to certain text. How can it be fixed, and how to prevent it from happening again?
I get this as thumbnail image on my desktop and in Finder, when I click space bar to quick view, and when its preview as an attachment in an email.
This is how it's supposed to look. This only happens when the PDF is actually opened..it goes from the above img to this.
I knew there would be a few quirks. I recently upgraded my Mac OS to SL 10.6.3. When using Illustrator (CS4), saved files as .EPS, do not have the appropriate Illustrator icon on the file. When I click on them to open, instead of opening in Illustrator, the file open in "Preview".
NOTE: ".AI" files saved, do not have the correct AI icon either, but do open in Illustrator.
When importing bitmaps into illustrator, pixel preview doesn't appear much different than overprint preview. Is there a way I can make this appear as a more accurate live version rather than a pixelated, undetailed one like in CS4?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open Cs2 Illustrator up its already set to outline view. If I click preview or ctrl Y its goes to preview but only for a split second before going back. Even if I go to document setup It says that it's not in outline view. Is there any way I can permanently set it to preview mode?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm learning from the official books for Adobe Illustrator CS5 and I found that the 3D view CS6 I always crash. CS5 works without problems. See the video here: [URL]

Can you confirm that the error is not only me, but that's really wrong version CS6? Specifically, I use 64-bit version.
I made a custom brush that worked fine until is restarted Illustrator. Now I see this until I release the pen:

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am trying to do my online assignment for Adobe Illustrator. I am using the 3-D effect and everytime I click on the preview check box, it freezes up. Which is very frustrating, because that effect is used alot in this chapter. If it is a computer memory problem, how do I fix that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI¨m working on a RGB document; it´s not going to be printed, but I need to simulate the overprint effect and also to use some "out of gammut" RGB colors that display very different on CMYK. I have the overpirnt preview checked; also, the objects I want to overprint have the Overprint Fill checked on the Attributes window. I even tried converting to spot colors, since I got the "In RGB documents, overprinting only affects spots colors" message. Still, no overprint preview.

Is there a way to preview the document on my monitor without the bleeds? If so, how?
I'm wondering if there is a way for me to only need to create one sample text and get multiple previews of different fonts (either some of my favorites, or just all of them). If not, perhaps there is a way to make a script where the text makes multiple copies of itself and changes the font.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm programming a tool handling with width profile and width markers. I would like to see a preview while I'm editing the width marker values (in real time).
I'm editing the width of strokes during dragging the mouse in small steps. Each mouse drag event means a small adaption of the widths. The problem is, that I do not see the change during I drag the mouse. I see the change after I release the mouse. Is it possible to update the artwork during dragging the mouse? So that I see the art object changing during I drag the mouse.
Whenever I enable Overprint Preview Illustrator seems to add grids on/over my document.
When I disable it, it dissapears. I find this strange because to me the opposite sounds more logical.
Will these grids be printed if I choose to print?
Being new to AI, I find that as I draw paths, sometimes I would like to view them without all the anchors and handles, etc. So far, I've been doing this by clicking the 'deselect' option. Is there a faster way to do this, some sort of shortcut perhaps?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with previewing effects in Illustrator. When I do this:
- create or select object
- go to appearance panel
- choose FX -> Stylize -> Drop shadow...
- check Preview in the effects window (it works as expected)
- now uncheck the Preview checkbox (when unchecked, the fx is still visible)
So, unchecking this Preview checkbox doesn't work right. It is very annoying. It is broken for most of the effect in illustrator. Strangly, it works fine with rounded corners effect. But other effects... not.
Just passing along this preview "glitch" in CS5 that could cause some headaches or costly reprints.
We had a file where some text "appeared"on screen as a solid fill even though it was mistakenly filled with a gradient in the colour panel.
When the job was output the type was missing.
Upon investigation it was noted the text was filled with a gradient through the color panel....however the preview did not reflect this. The proper way to apply a gradient to text is in the appearance panel> add new fill>gradient.
This will preview the gradient in the text properly. Shouldn't there be an friendly error message or pop up to warn users that this fill option is not available?
Illustrator Question regarding the texturization window. For some reason, every texture included (as well as one that I made in Photoshop), shows up in the Texturization window with a resolution of about 20 x 20 pixels. Even the simple sandy texture I made with Photoshop is displayed with poor resolution.
When I try File >> Place >> sand_texture.psd and drag it into the Swatches window, the texture isnt added no matter what I try.
I have included an image of what I see when opening the Texturization window.
Oh: Windows 7 64 Bit, Illustrator CC
