After an external backup drive had its partition deleted we used recovery software to get as many files back as possible. It sorted the files by types but gave them all numbers for names. Using bridge to preview the illustrator files, most show a thumbnail, some just a small illustrator icon. When I try to open the files, some open no problems.
Â
Some of the files are collections of vector art (multiple clipart in one file). In the preview that Bridge shows, the file is complete and all art is there. When I try to open some of these files, I get error messages like:
"Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an illegal operand.
##.####.##Â Â
%##.####.####.###.....etc."
And when I click "OK" the file is either missing some of the artwork or it is completely blank. How does the preview show the complete file and when opened it's either missing elements or blank?
I'm using Illustrator CS4 at work and am rather new to it, so I'm feeling my way along. I'm modifying and working with a file created by someone else. I'm trying to save a document of multiple objects to JPG, using Save to Web & Devices. There's a white rectangle in the document that I can't seem to include in the saved file. Other objects are included without problem, both clipping to the artboard and saving the whole document. I've tried grouping the rectangle with similar adjacent objects, and also tried "locking" them. I even tried creating a new rectangle over top of the existing one. No matter what I try, it just won't grab that rectangle along with the rest of the objects. It doesn't seem to be in a separate layer.

This is an Adobe® Illustrator® File that was saved without PDF Content. To Place or open this file in other applications, it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the "Create PDF Compatible File" option turned on. This option is in the Illustrator Native Format Options dialog box, which appears when saving an Adobe Illustrator file using the Save As command.
Â
which is actually a description that typically appears in AI files saved without PDF compatibility. It's not document-wise but rather application-wise issue because it happens even if I create a new Document, draw something in the middle of the canvas and save it. Also, all of my existing documents which used to save well before, do that now. Basically, I cannot save correctly a single PDF. But it seems that the exported documents must contain the data because they have different sizes based on the content.
Â
There's no problem with saving in AI format.
Whenever I save a file in Photoshop CS6, no preview icon is created. I am still also using PS CS5 and don't have this problem. I am running Mac OS 10.8
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently performed a purge cache for Adobe Bridge, and I am no longer able to see my preview thumbnails for any png files. I am using Adobe Bridge CS4 on a Mac OS 10.6.8. The thumbnail is just that white rectangle with a photo and loupe on it- I really need to see the image.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy did Adobe remove the file preview area from the File > Open dialog box? I like having all my file requests showing Details mode so I need the Preview window when I am navigating, browsing and opening files.
Â
Illustrator CS6 still has a Preview window, granted it only works on AI files, it should be able to preview PDFs and EPS files correctly, let alone all raster formats.
Just upgraded from X3 to X6. Â Still getting used to it, but so far so good.
On one layout, some items on a printable layer do not appear on the Print Preview. Â The page contains a monochrome bitmap, some text and a curve. Â Only the bitmap appears on the print preview, yet everything prints.
It doesn't happen with every job. Â Not a big deal on this job, but there will soon come a time when I need to know what will and will not print.
One of my students managed to make previews of the objects dissapear while drawing and editing.
Ex: Making a circle, only the radius line shows up, no preview of the circle itself. Â
When ever I open a drawing from the file menu or open file icon, the preview pane is missing from the dialogue box. I is there if i use file new or when I insert a block of file. Please see attached screen print.

I have a drawing that I created (.dwg) in Inventor 2013 that, when opened, is completely blank. Â However, when in the File>Open dialog box, I can click on the name of the drawing and the preview shows the complete drawing with all views fully dimensioned. Â I closed Inventor, laucned AutoCAD and tried opening the same file and it was still blank (no views). Â I then closed that file and open the old version of the file from the, "OldVersions" folder with Autocad and all the views and dimensions were there.
So I launced Inventor again and reopened the offending print and noticed that the model is not shown in the drawing's model tree. Â I'm 100% positive that I did not delete this model/view from the drawing before saving the file. Â This is a small drawing and it will only take me a few mintues to recreate it.
I'm using Inventor 2013, SP1.1

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue in Save for Web where the .gif animation preview works very slow and choppy. I am an advertising designer and many times I need to work on animated .gif banners. I am working with Photoshop CS6. When I play the animation in the frame timeline the animation speed works as intended, a little choppy but the timing isn't too bad. However when I go into the Save for Web screen and play the animation it always appears a lot slower and looks choppy. Anything se to 0.0 or No Delay runs as if its set to .1 seconds. Now if I export the file and open it in Chrome the animation speed seems to go back to normal. This wasn't always the case, I tested this 2 or 3 months ago and the animation speed in the export was also slow and choppy but it must have been fixed in one of the updates since then.
Â
My issue is I don't want to have to preview everything in Chrome after I export it, and then possibly have to go back and tweak it then save again, preview again etc. I have never encountered this issue in previous versions on Photoshop or other machines. Ususally my experience has been the opposite, the frame timeline has always been slower, but previewing in Save fro Web has shown a pretty accurate preview.
Â
I also have a HP laptop running Windows 7, photoshop CS6 and I don't encounter this issue at all. Default answer on all of the forums is "different browsers handle .gif animation speeds differently, etc.." but int he past I have saved a .gif on my mac and it was slow and choppy in the Chrome, then I saved the same file on my PC transfered it back to the mac and previewed in Chrome and the animation played quickly and smoothly.
Â
I can't see it being a hardware issue because the machine I am using is farily new. iMac Late 2013/2013, 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB, running OSX 10.8.4 Mountain Lion.
Â
Could it possibly be a setting or preference that needs to be changed? As I stated above it seems that now when I export the animation works fine in the browser the preview is just slow.
I try to save the thumbnail to a file, but it seems ThumbnailBitmap is alway's nothing. How to use this Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Database.ThumbnailBitmap?

Using PS CS5.1, converting a large space image to sRGB for web use does not give accurate render in actual browser. This is a common problem, but usually there are a couple of simple user errors that lead to this, and it usually means a less saturated image. This, however, seems unlikely to be user error, as I've tested it with a freshly created, sRGB image, with simple gradient, outputting it with embedded profile (non-embedded gives identical results in browser), and it becomes overly saturated.
Â
The interesting, and probably all telling thing, is that viewing the optimized web version with Monitor Color selected in the preview gives what my browser actually shows me. Likewise, soft proofing using my Monitor RGB gives the same image as my browser.
Â
I'm on WinXP x64. Browser is Firefox, and I've tried all three color management settings with no change, and also same results with Chrome browser.
Â
This grad is in the ProPhoto space, converted during save for web. Color is a good match, with a slight shift, not unexpectedly. Note, preview is with Internet Standard RGB.
Same grad, this time with the preview set to Monitor Color. There is quite a saturation increase. This is what my browser actually shows me. I do not have desaturate colors selected in my color settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is a Font Preview plugin available that will do what Illustrator SHOULD HAVE done for many years - which is to actually allow you to toggle through your font list and display the text you entered in the fonts you are clicking through - - kind of like what CorelDraw has had for the last 15 years.
Â
Imagine that... being able to review text in a selected font to facillitate the selection of an appropriate visual reference for logos, etc. Earth-shaking, I know.it seems there would be an Illustrator plugin by now that would do this???
Â
Or do I have to continue to have CorelDraw opened up so that I can review text in various fonts to determine the best choice for a given project font?
I have CS3, when I do save as, only about six options are avialable (tif, pdf, and a few others). Jpegs, Gifs, etc are all gone. Is there some setting I've inadvertantly chosen or reason I can't save as jpeg?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded from VideoStudio 12 to Pro X4, and have noticed that I don't have all of the Video Save Options (specifically Media type and Audio format) that I have with 12.
I produce video for playback by a regional local access provider, and their requirements are mpeg-2 video with mpeg layer 2 audio. Both of these are options that are available in 12 but not X4. I understand that NTSC DVD video is mpeg-2, but I'm still at a loss with the audio format.
Here is a screenshot of the video/audio format I need to be able to produce:
The only settings I get in "Save for Web / Devices" are "Unnamed" and "-----".
Where would these preferences have disappeared to? I don't recall ever seeing the standard options ever since installing the CS3 Master Collection. ImageReady and Photoshop CS3 usually have a few JPG, GIF and PNG options.
Could I download the original settings file somewhere, without reinstalling anything?
In AutoCad 2006, when I want to open a new or existing drawing or template, instead of regular dialog box I receive only a prompter dialog which is present in the command line also, asking me for the name of the drawing that I want to open; it is the case also when I want to save a drawing too. I already checked the "Options" under the "Open and Save" tab and everything looks to be in order. How can I resolve this bothering problem since I am able to perform the above tasks only accessing "Windows explorer"?

I have no choice of a Mac preview when I save to eps. in CS5.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the save for web function to save a large number of files (not batch saving)usually, when I open a file and start saving for web, it will remember the folder that I most recently exported to, and by default open that folder for that file, until I "save for web" into a different folder.
Â
Out of seemingly nowhere, the save for web seemed to "forget" this folder (and any other folder I tried to save to), and now defaults to the "Documents" folder, causing me have to click through to find my intended destination folder. I'm on CS5 & Mac running Mountain Lion. On my work computer (exactly the same, Mac + Mountain Lion) I am using CS6 and have not encountered this issue.
whenever I do pretty much anything (eg. when applying any of the Illustrator Effects) in Illustrator, to have to turn on the 'Preview' checkbox every time. Obviously I want to see a preview of what I'm doing. I can't find anything in the preferences to fix this - is there any way of making preview ON by default? I guess this is a relic of the ancient core of Illustrator, when adding something like a soft shadow would make those Macintosh Classics grind to a halt.
Â
Unfortunately this is one of those impossible-to-Google questions - any permutation of "illustrator", "preview", "default" gives me thousands of unrealted search results!
Just upgraded to CC on Windows 7 and noticed the font preview is now much smaller than in CS6. I have it set to size large in preferences, but I'm having a terrible time seeing them. Is there anyway to make the preview bigger? I set it to small and medium just to see and I have to wonder what the programmers were thinking when they set previews this small. Why can't they just give us an option to select what point size we want to preview the fonts at?
