I have an external Cinema Display plug with Thunderbolt, but this one don't appear in the external monitors list in the settings menu. I have only access to Firewire output.
View 2 RepliesI have an Eizo external monitor connected to my MBP and use the external for editing. I have been doing so for a couple years now and with all versions of Lightroom (even 4.2). I have always been able to see the changes/edits real-time on the external monitors when adjusting something with one of the LR sliders. Ever since I installed the latest LR update (4.3)- I don't see changes realtime. I have to wait until I let go of the mouse/slider to see the changes/adjustments.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMid-job (and of course now that I need to color correct), PP CC has stopped exporting video to my external monitor. I have tried trashing prefs (holding Shift+Opt at start-up) and it doesn't do the trick. In looking around, I've noticed people having this problem when using some BlackMagic cards, but my monitor is plugged directly into the Thunderbolt connector of my MacBook Pro. I've enclosed my Playback settings.
Oddly enough, when I fire up my old copy of PP CS6 it plays back to my external monitor just fine.
I've had had enough late-night edits that I may have inadvertently initiated some keystroke that changed a setting, but I can't think of what that would be or why a Preference Trash wouldn't reset it.
I'm trying to edit a set of titles made in Premiere in After Effects, and after I import the file (as a Premiere file) then load the sequence into the timeline; the preview is just a black screen throughout the entire preview. The titles never show up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use a MBP connected it to an Apple Cinema Display used as an external monitor (not a dual display) when in my studio.
When I use Adobe Photoshop CS 5 without the monitor the image window does not display on the MBP. If I plug the external monitor in, the window is displayed correctly on the MBP. Photoshop is opening and "displaying" the image window offscreen. Nothing gets it back onscreen, except plugging in the external monitor.
I often use Photoshop away from my studio so this is a big problem. PShop is essentially unusable unless connected to an external monitor.
I'm just about to order a BM card for video monitoring but looking for connection setup that allows me to get both video monitor and external display from my macbook pro?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed AutoCAD on a brand new Lenovo W530 with 2 graphic cards: Integrated Intel and Nvida K2000M. When I just work on the built in screen AutoCAD does not seem to work well, the mouse movement lags. The problem is gone immediately when I simply extend my desktop onto an external screen.. That is all I do : FN key + projector icon, choose extend desktop and enter -> AutoCAD works great.
Here is some background info / things I have tried:
1) I disabled Nvidia Optimus in BIOS to makre sure all graphics is on the Nvidia (i.e. disable integrated graphics) -> this did not solve the problem, also after applying the extend desktop trick
2) In the Nvidia 3d settings I made sure that AutoCAD works with the Nvidia card.
3) Nvidia drivers are upto date
4) When I open AutoCAD it appears in the nvida window (in the taskbar) that shows which programs are used by nvidia
5) After extending the desktop I stay with AutoCAD on the builtin screen
I'm using two monitors with LR5, and the second monitor is the preview screen. I find the preview on the second monitor to be painfully slow in both the Library and Develop modules:
1) If I am the Develop module, and I move to the next photo, and zoom the preview to 100% (or if it is already at 100%), it take a minute, literally, for the preview to display correctly.
2) In the Develop module, sometimes the display does not update correctly at all. If I adjust a slider on the Details tab, however slightly, the preview then updates almost immediately.
3) In the Library module, if I switch the main window to single photo view, and view 100%, then, as I browse the photos, the main window updates very quickly, but the preview window lags behind.
I'm working with Fuji X-Trans RAF files, and this maybe this si the issue? JPGs update almost immediately in the preview window in both modules.
I have a document I created in Illustrator CS4 (Mac OSX 10.5.8) with 1/4 inch bleeds.It's a rather small document and the bleeds are very distracting (but I need them for final printing).
Is there a way to preview the document on my monitor without the bleeds? If so, how?
monitor preview bmd intensity stretched in pal (a litttle bit), so a circle does not remain a circle, getting a egg. preview on computer monitor ok.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I work on a project in PremierePro CS6 v6.0.5 and put my PC to sleep, Premiere crashes almost every time I boot up Windows again. There is no error number or anything, just a window saying that PP does not work and I only have the option to close PP. So I basically have to quit Premiere every time and load up the project again when I continue working on it, which can take some time if this is a long project.
This also happens with other PC I could test this on. This is happening since the very first version of PP CS6. I had a chance to test PP CS5.5 on this issue and this was not a problem their. I was testing with Win7.
I already submitted this bug quite a while ago, but all the updates did not solve this problem.
There is also another bug I noticed related to the second monitor preview in PP CS6, that also is not getting addressed for quite some time. When using a dual monitor setup the full screen preview on the second monitor does not minimize if I minimize PP by clicking on the PP icon in the taksbar. If I use the minimize button in the PP window (top right) the preview on the second monitor stays in the background as it should. Also if PP is minimized and I am working with another application (reading a PDF or surfing the web fo example) the PP full screen preview appears after a while on its own and blocks the second monitor. So I have to go to the PP window and back the the application I want to work in in order to get rid of the preview monitor being blocked.Here you can see what I mean: [URL]
This issue has also been tested on other machines with Win7 and they all had this problem. This two issues are obviously not related to my setup because I can reproduce them on other machines.
i recently purchased a 500GB Gtech firewire external harddrive for my laptop. My after effects is extremely slow and i want to use these external harddrive in order to increase the speed. I have a macbook pro with the following specs:

Well, to join the two different parts i have choosen AE software (actually is After Effects CC).Well, as i said the animation and scenario are in a different project, and i have joined both in AE. But the scenario is not always just a landscape. Sometimes is a building that the actor walks on it, so i have (in some way) to put the actor "in" the building, and if i was working with images i would easly solve that problem: select and extract to another layer what i want to be in first place, or to be the landscape. At the same logic, how can i do this in After Effects CC?Can i extract some objects by color as i can do in Photoshop?
2º For storytelling reasons, i would like that , in some moment, everything turns gray , and the actor is colored. but there's more! i would like that the actor leaves a colored path (the path that he is taking in animation). Is there any way that i can do it?
If i cant do it, i have to re-build the entire animation in Cinema4D.
My Question,rather my problem is that when I do a ram preview of my Ae Projects...something really strange happens. When Ram Preview is started,in the Composition Panel a new window thing appears in which the RAM preview is ongoing, nd of
which is out of view of the composition panel.When I zoom out the composition panel behaves strange and the RAM preview and everything else disappears from view,although the RAM preview is still playing in the background.

I just upgraded to After Effects CS6 on a MAC OS X 10.6.8..My probelm is that for certain effects, the RAM preview is not clearing after I make a change. In particular, with "Particle Playground" I have the layer map as another composition. When I make a change to the layer image in its composition, the particle playground composition does not reflect the change and just stays the same.
If I then make another parameter change, the new layer will be there, but if I undo that change it goes back to the old layer map. If I reneder it out to a file it is fine and reflects all changes. However, the preview RAM system seems to be very buggy and very hard to clear out old RAM previews so that changes are reflected in the new preview.
The same thiings happens if I use an expression in particle playground. I change the expression and the preview does not change. Purging doesn't even work.
I have project im working for 2 weeks. It was all good till yesterday. Today I opened and tried to Ram preview it, but either it crash and close or if I click the space bar to watch in the midle of ram preview it opens a warning window, with nothing inside (see attach) and I can not close it or do anything else.
Im running a Windows 8 in a IntelCore i7 4770 3.4GHz 3.4GHz, RAM installed 16GB - Video - NVIDIA GFORCE GTX 660

View 2 Replies View RelatedI see the ram preview on the external monitor through a BM Intensity Pro card, but in the computer monitor, it sticks on the first frame, and kind of jitters, with the bounding bow flickering. In fact, I get no real time playback at all any more. Everything worked fine in CS6.

I cannot play the ram preview, when I click the button the image gets flipped and frozen. I can scrub the timeline and see the animation I am working on, but I need a real-time preview. I downloaded the last after effects patch for mavericks, but I think this is an issue with the Iris Pro graphics card.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Comp, which admittidely is a render nightmare, with 64 instances of a the same video each 1 frame ahead of the next. So it's very RAM hungry and something of a balancing act between the number of CPUs and how much RAM each is allowed (but generally allowing 3GB per process and 1 less CPU than suggested)
The thing that is killing me though is the RAM Preview is going almost 3x faster than a normal render. Even when the normal render destination is an SSD and compression is None. otherwise exact same settings i.e. 100%, best quality.
The really interesting part is that when doing a MP RAM preview the CPU usage (as viewed in activity monitor) is a solid wall of green but when I do a standard MP render the CPU useage is fluctuating wildly. I've tried various dififerent MP options (all maintaining a safe RAM overhead for the sysytem) with very little difference in performance.
MacPRO 2x 2.26 QuadCore, OSX10.8.3, 32GB RAM, Proavio RAID for source, internal SSD for destination.
How do I get AE to Ram preview more than a couple of seconds. Even when I close out of AE and reopen it does the same thing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am buying a laptop for AE for mobile reasons.does the fast preview(so the instant result after changing an effect value you get in the preview window) depend on gpu or cpu, or both depending on what effects are used? I am looking at a 670mx for cuda, but 7970m for dominant opengl scores.
Will these 2 gpu's give me different performances regarding fast preview,or is looking into different gpu's not a worthy question yet due to After effects mostly being a cpu heavy program? Now i know all that ray tracing acceleration and how nvidia cards are necessary for that, but this is regarding fast preview only.

This issue started out of nowhere for what I consider to be no reason. Working on average sized 720p compositions with modest animations.
I am running fresh comps in AE CC with absolutely no plugins, freshly purged memory, cleaned cache, restarted comp, no other applications running on computer and 13 gb of memory allocated to AE... etc.
