View 5 Replies View RelatedI am creating a 'How to' diagram using illustrations from a previous artist. As such I need to recreate his way of creating image gradients. He seems to do it by using only a small amount of gradient steps creating quite block like gradients. Like this: How would I go about getting my smooth gradients like this? At the moment I am creating a smooth gradient filled object, expanding it then specifying the steps in the dialogue box that then appears. But this does not really recreate the same gradient (please see as follows):So my question is how this artist has done this? As the gradients also seem to follow the contours of the object.

I applied a transform effect to make it look "3D" by offsetting it slightly 32 times (see middle image. see far right image to see what it looks like selected). I want to simply have the middle image, but without all the paths and lines - I just I want it outlined. I tried to expand it, group it, pathfinder-add - nothing seems to work.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a 100mm x 100mm grid set up with 10mm divisions. I draw a box 100mm x 100mm and snap to the grid. I then put a stroke of 1mm on the box and want to resize to 120mm x 120mm. The box will not snap to the grid accurately because the box is now 118.811mm and does not know whether to snap to the top or bottom of the box. This makes for horrendous mistakes in my artwork. I need to view the size of the box as 120mm x 120mm irrespective of the stroke width. I'm on CS5.5 but have CS6 here and will install it if it's the only way to solve it.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI followed the steps to create a font outline, manipulated the selected font, then moved to a new page-project - I inserted new type - it looks fine at 11 pt, but when I enlarged it, it still has the outline effect - also, the font becomes nothing but a black blob the more I increase the size - seems like the create outline command is still working on a new page.
How do I turn off the create outline command so I can return to regular fonts on new pages?
For text i can easily use TYPE / Create Outlines
but what about Create Path Around Object or PNG with Transparancy ?

I am trying to create an outline color for contour cutting and I have the outline color in my spot colors but now I was wondering if I could apply these change to all the images at once instead of changing each one.
how i have to make something. In the attached file i've made a pipe/tube under a angle (see attachment). This is approx what I want; however the undulation needs to be more round and less peaked.
Resizing objects is a mess in CorelDRAW X6 when objects are outlined with Scale With Object enabled to retain proportions after resizing.
None of the tools dealing with outlines (e.g. Contour or even Outline itself) continue to work properly after resizing the object.
I strongly suggest to recalculate outline property values after resizing if Scale With Object is checked. Don't just do it hidden somewhere internally in the object model by applying a temporary scaling factor. Instead actually recalculate the actual property values if Scale With Object is checked.

How to make a Contour object transparent? In below example is set a 1 step contour on the star, setting transparency the yellow is transparent but the grey not.

I am aware that the star could be turned to editable shape, after clone and subtract so the transparency could be controlled on both shapes, but is there maybe some other way?
Also could be a way of course to set outline for the star and not contour, but I do not like as in that case the line half inside and half outside of the shape.
I often have complex vector objects which contain paths and I want to create a path around the object.
I have tried Offset Path, but this command also offset the interior of the object. I have also tried Effect>Path>Offset Path, but the original path that I selected disappears and is replaced by the new offset path. I want to keep the original path and have an offset around it. I am a long time AI CS3 user.
My problem is that I create engravings of images and I want my machine to cut an outline around the engraving, the outline being X pts bigger than the engraving.

How to create the effect of an object (in this case a crown) hanging on the edge of a letter (on the end of a word). I am designing a logo for our kids ministry at church. It is called "Kids of the King" and I have an eps of a crown and I want to hang the crown off the K in the word King. I am trying to make it where the back half of the crown is hidden behind the K so it gives the effect of it hanging off the edge of the letter.

I have seen some videos about creating contour lines (such as this one: URL.... ). But in this video they import the surface using the 'connect to data' button in the toolspace area. Is it possible to insert a surface from your drawing into the toolspace area and then draw the contour lines? I managed to insert the layer containing the surface using Data --> Add drawing data --> Drawing layer... but I cannot change style or create contour lines.

I downloaded the deaf friendly seal as a vector image from a stock website. Now my co-workers want me to add that "sunburst" round edge and put it behind the round part of the deaf friendly one. I know this can be done using InDesign by linking an Illustrator file and making subsequent updates to that Illustrator file. But I do not want to use InDesign, I want to use Illustrator. What I want is much like creating Symbols in Flash, updating one will cascade throughout the file.
I just upgraded to Civil3D 2014 and Windows 8. When I create a TIN surface using a DEM file no contour lines are displayed. Points are processed and triangles are created and can be displayed but no contour lines. Contour line layers are set to display in the style file.
