I want the outline to be hollow so I can place another 3D image inside of it.
I need to create a cube with the bottom of the cube being flat and then the top being at a slope with all 4 top corners being at different heights, basically I am looking to see if there is a command that let's me drag the corners to where I want it but for the life of me I can't find it

How do I turn off the create outline command so I can return to regular fonts on new pages?
For text i can easily use TYPE / Create Outlines
but what about Create Path Around Object or PNG with Transparancy ?
i know about using Pen Tool and create Path , but it takes much time and my final work not perfect as i want
is there any tips to create path around and image object ?
Is there any way to create a thicker line stroke to the border of the object without tracing the object manually. The object in placed in a group and it has closed and unclosed paths.

I need to outline this, and really don't want to have to trace the whole thing. What I have been doing with the rest of this persons design is duplicating it, getting just an outline by getting rid of whatever isn't needed. Making it a wide outline and then doing create outline to object, getting rid of extra inner lines, and then I have the outline (cut line) that I need. The computer is saying that this one is too much for it to do that.
I have to make it a tiny jpg in order to upload here. The original is made out of MANY lines, but I have a vectorized outline that fits it, but not an outline that is like 1/8 or 3/16 inches all the way around it. It is being cut out to go on vehicle doors, trailers, etc. The details are way too small to have it cut right up to it.
I've been using Xara Photo and Graphic designer for about a week now to design some characters for a game I'm working on and in general find it great to use as a freehand authoring tool.
In order to develop a cartoon style, I'm building my characters out of free hand coloured objects with black outlines with cel shading made from partial masked clones of the objects. This works a treat until I come to put two of the objects together and want to erase part of the outline on the topmost object where it meets the underlying one.
I thought I'd found a solution with a tip on the Xara site (at the top of the page here) where you draw the outline portion you want and combine with a second object then break the objects again. This pretty much achieves what I want, I get a filled object with the outline broken where I originally left it, however, things start to go wrong when you attempt to mask clone a part of the object you've created (for example, to produce a shaded portion of the underlying object) as it's still a line and not a shape, so the mask clone gets confused and doesn't cut out the intended area.
This must be a pretty regular requirement, particularly for people creating flash animations, so I'm sure I must be missing something or going about the construction of the image in the wrong way.
I have used Xara designer for years as its generally easier to use, but still can't work out hot to easily create the Outline Path and the pathfnder merge shapes function as in Illustrator. The idea is to have a block of text with an outline round the outside of the whole text, but separated from the text characters.
In illustrator the sequence is:
Write text and select then create outlines
Then Object, Path, Outline Path.
Then using the pathfinder utility, merge the outlines into one.
In Xara Designer, I can change text to shapes, but not generate an outline other than a line that hugs each character.
Basically I have a picture of my hall and I want to change the colour of the blue part to different colours to see what paint would look good.
All I can see is to make rectangles and then a thick brush to recolour each one with the mouse which takes ages.
can I not create a shape to outline the entire blue area and just click on different colour palettes to see how they look?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to create some text that has a outline but with a little bit of space in between the text and the outline. What is the best way to do this?
Usually, I will create text and add an outline. Then convert the outline to an object and change the color to whatever the background color of the document is. Then I will add an outline to that object (the one that used to be the text outline) and I end up with essentially two outlines.
It usually isn't that difficult but sometimes the text does not cooperate and when I add an outline it has all kind of gaps and points. So I guess I have two questions. why certain texts have those gaps and points when you try to outline them? Also, is there any easier way to make an outline that is not directly against the text like this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedCurrently self teaching myself using 3D on a current project I'm working on. A cable stayed bridge having a span of 30 metres supported primarily by a single diagonal parabolic arch. The arch is square in section but rotated so it looks like a diamond along the arch length. To draw the arch I have drawn the arch sections at intervals along the centreline where it changes size in section 1.4, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0m. I have then used the loft command to draw the arch using the drawn sections as the objects to loft through.
For the GA drawing I have a plan view and elevation. When printing the generated/ lofted lines are are pixelated and not very crisp or clear (not a solid line).
I have tried adjusting the visual style and shade plot, for each of the options and none of them are giving me a solid crisp outline for the generated arch. I have also had a little play using the visual styles manager but nothing seems to work and also tried maximum quality in the print options.
What do I need to do to print a solid crisp outline for the outline of the arch please, are you able to select the edges of the square and convert them to solid 2d/ 3d lines.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been playing around a bit - and think the answer lives somewhere in compound paths, but can't quite get it right.
In the example below, I essentially want the anter to cut out it's outline shape into the axe. Same with the shield over everything.
This is essentially so I can place the logo over all sorts of backgrounds, without having to have a white outline on it.
The oject below has an unwanted small yellow shape on its edge.
Not sure why it is there as an identicle object within the same project doesn't have it!
How can I connect them again so they are one?
Whilst I am doing this is it also possible to connect the other yellow areas in this image so I can recolor them all together whilst testing colors?
I tried using the: Shift+Select all object>Ctrl Click>Group (& tried "Join" also) but doesnt seem to connect them!
We know this famous CRTL+Y shortcut , it turns the artwork in something ugly , all these wires lol.
But what is the real use fo the "outline view" ?
I'm trying to outline an image. In photoshop, I did find edges (save), then opened the image in illustrator and did image trace. I obtained a perfectly outlined image.I can't obtain the same results using illustrator image trace alone.I've adjusted the advance settings a few times to get the same result but with no luck. Threshhold and corner settings are ok, but I'm getting more paths and noise than I want, with the settings at low/1 respectively.I also tried the gray scale setting since the image is mostly gray, expand, etc, but no dice).
