Illustrator :: Layers Palette Stuck In Opacity Mask Layer Mode CS6
Aug 22, 2012I have two layers. Upper most with text is locked.Bottom layer is an image I have applied a transparency/gradient mask for the raster image. Now, seems my layers palette is stuck in a mode called 'Layers (Opacity Mask)'.Not seen this before, but this is CS6. How do I get out to the main, root level of the layers palette?

Sep 30, 2013Why does my illustrator file open in outline mode? Why won't it allow me to switch the view mode to preview instead of outline? It is a larger file but my computer should be able to handle it. It recently froze on me and now I can't get it to preview when I open it.

Dec 26, 2012I seem to have lost the center line cross hairs in Illustrator CS6.
I draw some shapes, then go to outline mode and the center lines are now missing. They used to work. Still have them in CS5.
Here are a couple of images that show what I mean.
Here in 5 you can see the center points in each shape
Here is a similar picture from 6 with the center points missing.
The center points do show up if I put my cursor over the shape.

Feb 13, 2013I have Illustrator CS6 running on a 2011 iMac, 4GB RAM. Error message states it cannot finish previewing file and reverts to outline mode. I've read that this issue should have been fixed with the 64 bit upgrade in CS6. How can I improve the performance? More RAM?

Jun 25, 2008Occasionally my PS gets stuck in Move Mode. Only the hand icon appears in the picture I'm attempting to edit. If I select another tool via the tool bar, or short cut, the tool bar on the top line changes appropriately, but the tool icon in the window remains the hand (move tool). The only way I have found to resolve is close PS and re-boot the PC.

Jun 13, 2008I have a multi layer psd and when I try to select a layer object and copy it, the copy function is greyed out and the only thing I can do is paste.
If I let it have its way, it pastes in a previous copy. After pasting, I try to copy again, but the paste function is the only one active. I can not get PS CS3 to let me do a copy.

Nov 16, 2008I try to copy other textures and it still shows up. A few times I've been able to get a new texture, but for some strange reason it shows back up again. I don't even know where it comes from. I'm on a MAC and the I keep my textures in a few files on my desktop. It is not in any of the files I have.

I am simply trying to apply a gradient within a shape, and it keeps only applying it to the stroke. If I try to add a gradient to a path that doesn't have a stroke, it will automaticallly add a stroke.

Oct 25, 2012I'm trying to apply an along stroke gradient to a stroke made with an artistic watercolor brush that comes with the program. Whenever I try to do this the gradient comes out greyscale. In the gradient window it will show as the colors I've chosen (ex. white -> orange), but when I draw the stroke it comes out greyscale regardless. If I draw the stroke with a different brush, like a regular round brush, it works perfectly fine. It seems to be doing this with all "artistic" brushes.
Is there a link there between artistic brushes and greyscale? Am I just doing something very wrong?
I'm running the trail version, does it have something to do with that?
Illustrator :: Stuck On Directory When Opening File?
Oct 19, 2012every time when I want to open a file, Illustrator keeps showing the same directory (for example HD Macintosh/workfolder).
Normally Illustrator would show the last directory I used. For that matter, Illustrator also does this when I want to save an Illustrator file. It's a bit annoying when I have several documents I want to save into the same directory or folder and I have to click to the right directory for every document I made, because normally Illustrator shows up the last directory I used.
I use Illustrator CS5.5 on an Imac running iOS 10.8.2.The second problem I have (with Illustrator as well as InDesign) is that after my iMac hasn't been used for a while and it goes to sleep, after waking up, both Illustrator and InDesign crashed. This problem doesn't occur every time, but every now and then.

Apr 30, 2012I was drawing a polaroid cam, and i needed to use the blend tool......once a choose the spacing as specified distance, the option was 0,1 and was going to change it.....to 0,2....but i dont know why, suddently another windom came in front of the blend option window......was the value option for this tool......asking me to choose between 0.1 to 35.27 cm......and when i press start, it returns to the previous window and immediatly turns into the value option windows again......and again and again....i try "esc" button....try to choose as number as fast as i can.....but this keeps going on and on....

May 23, 2013I have been working with the perseptive tool for a couple of hours now. I've watched 3 or 4 videos, and read writting directions but I can't for the lift of me figure out what's going on. I am using the perspective grid and selection tool. I can get my objects onto the left plane only. When I try to select for the right plain (2) or the horizontal grid (3) it keeps moving my shape back onto the left plane. I've tried using the icon to select the areas and I have tried using keyboard shortcuts. What am I doing wrong?

Illustrator :: Black Color Slider Stuck As Multicolored Gradient?
Apr 18, 2013My black color slider is stuck as a multicolored gradient. The file was originally in RGB mode and I've seen it happen before but usually if I change my color mode to CMYK the black slider bar goes back to normal.
Any way to fix this with illustrator open? It doesn't go away unless I close and re-open illustrator. I don't think that it affects my output colors...

Jan 2, 2013Currently self teaching myself using 3D on a current project I'm working on. A cable stayed bridge having a span of 30 metres supported primarily by a single diagonal parabolic arch. The arch is square in section but rotated so it looks like a diamond along the arch length. To draw the arch I have drawn the arch sections at intervals along the centreline where it changes size in section 1.4, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0m. I have then used the loft command to draw the arch using the drawn sections as the objects to loft through.
For the GA drawing I have a plan view and elevation. When printing the generated/ lofted lines are are pixelated and not very crisp or clear (not a solid line).
I have tried adjusting the visual style and shade plot, for each of the options and none of them are giving me a solid crisp outline for the generated arch. I have also had a little play using the visual styles manager but nothing seems to work and also tried maximum quality in the print options.
What do I need to do to print a solid crisp outline for the outline of the arch please, are you able to select the edges of the square and convert them to solid 2d/ 3d lines.

Jun 18, 2013im after creating an outline around some text basically as a background prepared ready for cutting two layer vinyl..I so far can create text, create outlines, i can add a stroke giving a nice outline around the text,
next stage when i send to winplot and send to cutter it seems to cut numerous lines within the vinyl...What im want i just one line around the whole text following the profile of the main text.
