I want to continue working in outline mode, using a template while in isolation mode, but the template disappears. Does that mean I'd have to copy the template to the group or layer I'm working in?
View 1 RepliesI cannot get Illustrator CS6 to work in isolation mode. I am in graphic design school and just learning Illustrator. The video I'm watch is telling me to double click the element (which is grouped) to enter isolation. I have tried severl times, even rebooting my computer to see if was a glitch. Still nothing happens when I double click. Using a Wacom tablet. But I even tried clicking with the trackpad, still nothing happens.
View 5 Replies View RelatedGroups are an excellent way to design encapsulated objects, but when editing color in Isolation Mode all other groups/layers are desaturated which makes it impossible to edit color in respect to the entire illustration.
I'd expect a way to disable the dimming effect somewhere in a menu option or preference setting.
I've been using Illustrator for many years but I ran into a problem today I've never seen before. I have a feeling it's something simple that I've overlooked.
All the objects in my project are invisible. When I hover over them, the object edges appear, and they retain their color if I double click them to put them in isolation mode. But that's it. Exported images are just white spaces the size of the artboard. All my other files display as they should, it's just this one.
I worked around it by copying and pasting the objects into a new file. So I think it must have something to do with the settings in this document.
I'm using CS5 on an iMac, running OS 10.6.8.
Previously when editing a group in isolation mode you could double-click a group and then the individual objects in that group become editable. Now in CS6 a group remains grouped in isolation mode, so to edit individual objects the group needs to be manually ungrouped while in isolation mode, then you have to remember to group them again before exiting isolation. This is a very un-useful new development. CS6, Windows 7 x64.

...actually, I just changed the objects layer to a differrent colour which seems to have made Illustator select the next colour down when in Isolation made.
Is this my only option?
Whenever I have an object grouped, and double click to edit it, I can't get the gradient control handles to show up inside of it.
How can I get them to show up and why did they disappear in the first place?
Any way to turn off the automatic launching of isolation mode on double click. It's highly annoying and slows me down every time I have to exit the mode so I can get back to work. I prefer to select elements using the layers panel, which is much more flexible.
Is there a preference or other setting to disable isolation mode? Especially when using a Wacom pen, it's alll too easy to double-click unintentionally. So disabling it permanently would be a great.
If you create a symbol that is pixel perfect, exit out of the symbol and go back in, the pixels bleed into each other because the pixel grid is not aligned correctly. Instead it is aligned to the global document grid which the symbol content is not placed in. It makes no sense to align the pixel grid to the global coordinates when the content by definition is not present in it.
This makes it impossible to use symbols to edit pixel perfect objects because any editing other than the original creation does not display pixels but pixel bleeds.
This is a valid bug in Illustrator CS6. Please specify:
1. Do you understand what I am specifying? If you do not I will provide images as I wish to resolve this functionality.
2. Specify if it has been fixed in Illustrator CC. I do not have an available Win7 installation to test CC but if it is I will acquire one.
My Illustrator CS2 is stuck in Outline mode, no mater how many times I press CTRL Y.

I draw some shapes, then go to outline mode and the center lines are now missing. They used to work. Still have them in CS5.

The center points do show up if I put my cursor over the shape.
I have Illustrator CS6 running on a 2011 iMac, 4GB RAM. Error message states it cannot finish previewing file and reverts to outline mode. I've read that this issue should have been fixed with the 64 bit upgrade in CS6. How can I improve the performance? More RAM?

What I'd like is to set the draw mode to paint inside for a selected path through a script instead of clicking twice on the toolbar button or hit Shift+D twice.
Is there a way to export a document @ a different resolution than 72DPI? I know I can set the horizontal/vertical scale to save it at a larger dimension at 72DPI, but I need the file to be actual size and 300DPI.
This is part of a larger process, and I'd prefer to do the entire process from Illustrator, and not have to open the files in Photoshop to change the size/resolution.
Also, is it possible to change the color mode to CMYK or Greyscale for the exported Jpeg?
When I open Cs2 Illustrator up its already set to outline view. If I click preview or ctrl Y its goes to preview but only for a split second before going back. Even if I go to document setup It says that it's not in outline view. Is there any way I can permanently set it to preview mode?

Otherwise, I was playing with exporting, allot of programs will use such code like XML in the background that i can export to and build a script to auto generate code via Excel. Is there an alternate for export than WMF? Using excel to import large amounts of data?
I have used Excel to import a Parabola equation through line command which according to some ME's at the office was impossible when they researched doing it online but i dont know various commands to add text boxes, define quardinates, and text values.
Obviously doing something wrong, I can't seem to select the print templates mode, they appear when I hover them on the left hand side of the screen but they don't then transfer to the center image, I select single, package and custom but nothing happens, I also select the photographs in the collection but the center screen doesn't import either the photo or the presets.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to insert these projects to the timeline at any random spot, versue the defaults to place at the beginning or end? Seems so limited that you only have those options. If you edit forward and only add material to the timeline as you need it, then it is no big deal to insert to the end... but if you add all your material to the timeline at once and then decide "oh, lets use an instant project here" then it is difficult to place in the middle.
I've copied some of the images in the templates to my library so that I could mimic those effects ( copy same attibutes to a clip) at anytime I want... just seems like there must be an easier way.
I'm try to automate the importing of the Varaible and datasets into my graphs via Scripting, but the ImportVaraibles() function doesn't seem to work. Here is my Script, mostly copied from the example script provided with Illustrator (CS5). And, this works manually, using the file names in the script, via Load Variable Library

If I remove that delete line, the script runs, but just uses whatever Variables I had last loaded, not the XML file.
It's simply not loading. What do I need to do to get it to load?
I have built many websites for artists over the last 10 years and have mostly used Lightroom Flash based gallery templates as the tool for displaying artworks in portfolios. Everyone has been happy with these flash based templates, they have a look and feel which is preferable to the simple HTML templates. Also their customisation abilities are good to tailor to each artists work and preferences.
Increasingly, these artists are getting complaints and negative feedback that their galleries are not working through Ipads (as Ipads don't support flash). Most want to keep their galleries as they currently look and feel as they are happy with the design, however they want people to able to view their work.
provide a conversion utility or better still, provide their standard historic flash based web templates in a html5 version that will seemlessly work with all forms of browesrs, including ipads and iphones.
We dont want to change to look of the templates, although more dynamic HTML5 templates would also be nice, we just want to keep what we have working with changing technology.
I am be able to publish to PDF, but unsure how to set the color mode to CMYK?

It's in outline so there is the outer black circle and the inner black circle. I'd like to fill the empty letter space with white, while leaving the center of the "o" transparent. View 1 Replies View Relatedwe have just upgraded from Inv 2011 to 2013. I am trying to create the drawing templates in 2013 by using the blank 2013 template and then copying our border from 2011 onto it. This works a treat apart from 1 thing.
The i properties do not get copied over as well so the sheet is blank from drawing number, title and the custom properties etc.
