Illustrator :: Contour Cut Line On Rasterized Image
Nov 7, 2012I am trying to create contour cut lines on rasterized images using Illustrator CS4. I have been changing the PNG files to TIFF files and saving with preserve transparency and then placing them in Illustrator. From there I live trace a copy to make a vector outline of the image, but I am uncertain what to do to make it so that I can upload my file into FlexiSign, make contour lines from that file, print, and cut. Everytime I save the file into AI format and bring it into FlexiSign it just contour cuts a rectangle around the image instead of making an actual outline of the picture.

Apr 22, 2013Placing an bitmapped .eps file from Photoshop, sometimes the file comes in at the dpi it was saved at, (say, 1.25 inches wide and 1200 dpi) and sometimes at 72 dpi (and a couple of feet wide).
Is there something the creator of the .eps file has set in photoshop that is causing Illustrator to interpret the incomoing dpi?
I realize a 1.25 inch 1200 dpi file has the same information as a 26+ inch 72 dpi file, but it causes an extra key stroke (a recorded action to resize the placed file). Not all the time, just some times.
I open the customer's .eps file in Illustrator and it opens at 72dpi/26 inches.
I open the customer's .eps file in photosohp, hit "save" and open it in Illustrator at 1200dpi./1.25 inches.

Illustrator :: List Of Effects That Get Rasterized When Saving To Legacy
Jun 17, 2013is there a list of CS6 effects that get rasterized when saving to older versions of illustrator. specifically CS6 to CS4
I noticed drop shadow and outer glow get expanded, but not inner glow. also if I make the outerglow effect in cs4, open it in cs6, use it as a style, it stays live. once if I edit it, it gets rasterized. is this normal behavior? if so, is there documentation as to what effects are backward compatible?
Illustrator :: 3D Text - Gradients Are Rasterized And Causes Color Banding
Jan 9, 2013I have applied a 3D>Extrude and Bevel on my text. Now problem is that when doing it, my border(part that is extruded) causes a color banding, since it rasterizes the gradients. See my image below.
How do I take away those nasty lines?

Feb 22, 2013Since upgrading to CS6: when I re-open Illustrator CS6 files, I find that effects such as dropshadow, etc. are rasterized as images or other elements that I can't edit as "effects". I'm the single author of these files, so they're being edited on the same computer and in the same program version. Why this is happening, and how to prevent it? It's really slowing me down.

I tried using different standard fonts, but result is the same. Aslo when I export it for high quality printing, the resulting pdf document also show the red text somewhat rasterized. (Does not appear smooth red).

Jan 19, 2013I just finished working on a file for a client and saved it to the compressed zip folder that it was sent to me without decompressing.
Photoshop seemed to save to the folder without problems but when I went to go to open it again, my work was gone and all that was there was the original file. Did PS save my work someplace else and not tell me, or was it not saving at all despite not giving me any permissions errors?
Photoshop :: Links Will Not Work When File Is Saved
Dec 14, 2008I am editing a photo (jpg format) in Photoshop CS3. I insert links to a slice within the photo. If the file is saved as a pdf the links will work. But whenever I save the file as a jpg or gif or any other type of picture format the links no longer work.
I am trying to make a picture that I can insert into an email so that they can click on a certain part of the picture (not the whole picture) and they will be redirected to a webpage. Is there another way I should go about doing this?
GIMP :: White To Transparent Does Not Work When Saved
Jul 26, 2013Run this simple test:
1. Open new gimp project. The background will be either the current foreground or background color. The point is it's ONE solid color.
2. Layer->Transparency->Add Alpha Channel
3. Edit->Clear The color is gone and it's a transparent layer. This is what I want to save.
4. File -> Save As (version 2.6)
5. Type in test.jpg
6. Open up test.jpg and you will see the transparent layer from step 3 has magically gone to white.
How do I prevent step 6 from happening?
And yes, same result on 2.8 (Windows)
Photoshop :: Work Saved As Inaccessible File Type?
Dec 11, 2012Once I had completed working on a project in PSE9, I 'saved as' my work.
I then closed the program and went to re-open the file however, the file appears with the extension 'File' and is un-accessible in all of the photo viewing software I have available. The file is however, still a large file - 85MB - which would suggest all of the file information is still in-tact.
I tried opening the file in several different programs, I've tried re-nameing the file, opeing the file properties to change the file type, backing up the file then restarting the computer and program. So far nothing has worked.

I've noticed that once I'm deep into a many layered project that I can't click on a specific layer in the work area but need to click on the layer I want to work on in the layers palette. Nov 21, 2012while tracing a plan on Autocad 2010, by accident I clicked on something, or performed some unknown commands. My lines, that were smooth just seconds before, suddenly became really pixelated, as if made of many small segments. And when rendering the plan on pdf, it is still the same, and the lines are really thick. I have checked, the line thickness is on default (0.25mm), but compared to renderings I've done before, this time the drawing has really awful lines.

Aug 2, 2012After opening pdf in photoshop CS6 (win 7 64 bit) there are thin (1 px) horizontal and vertical lines. Pdf was created by distiler from PostScript from InDesign (InDesign -> PostScript -> Distiller -> pdf). Same pdf rasterized in photoshop CS4 does not produce this lines. Is this a bug?
