View 1 RepliesOk, I'm in Illustrator CC and using the Object>Pattern creator to make new patterns. but I seem to be unable to figure out how to save those patterns to be able to open them in other documents.I have gone to 'Save Swatch Library as ASE' but then it says swatches with gradients and patterns will not be saved.
Â
I have tried to 'Save Swatch Library as AI' but it still doesn't seem to save it anywhere. How do I save a pattern I create to be able to open that pattern in a different document later?
I have the Creative Suite 5.5. Illustrator starts, but trying to open (.ai or .pdf) or save a file causes it to crash.
Â
I have deleted the preferences folder.
Â
used uninstaller to uninstall complete Creative Suite package. Used Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool.app afterwards.  Reinstalled.  Still it crashes.
Â
Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro all seem fine.

I've gone nuttier this time. I just installed Illustrator CS6 onto my MacBook Pro OS 10.8.2. I want to set up a default opening page but this time, it's not a clear path to do so. How do I set up an opening page with a new font, rulers, empty fill etc. as the default page without having to search for a template each time I open a new page? Where does the default page to go now? etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried CS5 & CS4 and when I open the program and attempt to open or save an .ai file, the program completely crashes. My system specs are as follows:

Installed Memory (RAM): 1.50 GB (1.25 GB Usable)

It was working perfectly fine over the weekend and then Monday I open illustrator and try to open a drawing I was working on and it closes on me everytime. Now I can't open or save files without it closing itself. I would uninstall and reinstall it but i lost my code. I have to make vector images for a couple of clients of mine!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use PS CS4 for photo editing and digital scrapbooking. For the past few weeks I have had some issues opening layered psd files of digital layouts that I have saved. They save properly but when I open them there is nothing but a black document with a red stripe going across the top. Can someone please help? Here are a few screen shots of what I am getting. In the first one you will see that the thumbnail is an actual image of the document and the second one is a screen shot of that document when I open it. ETA: This does NOT happen all the time. I have successfully saved and opened some psd files since having this issue for the first time a few weeks ago. I just can't seem to pinpoint what has happened prior to the psd file not opening properly.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhenever I go to save a drawing or open a new one from AutoCad, a command box shows up asking me to manually type in the file name and file path of the drawing I would like to open or save. Before I could do it as most programs do (Microsoft word, excel, etc.) where I can browse for the file via folders. Has this happened to any of you before and what do I need to do to get it back to normal?
View 5 Replies View Related(1) When I go to open files, raw or jpeg, I now need to enter a value for 'enable' on the open dialog. That never was necessary before.
Â
(2) When I go to save as jpeg, the file type defaults to eps. And even when I change to jpg, I get a dialog about eps options.
Â
The only way I found to get around this was to convert my files to 16 bit. That certainly shouldn't be necessary.(I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac running Mountain Lion)
I try to open a file from inside Photoshop CS2 on my new Windows Vista laptop, if I try to change directories by clicking on the directory list on the left side of the open window, I get an error: "Adobe Version Cue - The operation could not be completed. There was a problem with the selected file or folder. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. - Error Code -6640" I does this while saving too, which means I have to save files, then go back into Explorer and move them manually.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I open an image in Gimp, it's just a little off colour. Then when I save it as an image file (usually png), it's even more off colour than what's displayed in Gimp. For example, if the image starts out with a grey background of 808080 (RGB Hex Value, 16-bit), in Gimp it's 7F7F7F, and when I save as a png, it's 6E6E6E (honestly, how does that make sense under any circumstances?). I've tried every combination of settings under colour management, to no avail. Once, I managed to get Gimp to display the correct colour, but when I saved it as a gimp file, and re-opened it, it was wrong again.

View 17 Replies View RelatedThis just started happening really recently and I'm not sure at all what the cause is, soWhen opening or saving files, Photoshop displays this error message and closes itself:
Â
Runtime Error!Program: C:Program Files (x86)AdobePhotoshop 7.0Photoshop.exe
Â
R6025- pure virtual function call
Â
and here is a picture of the error message:[URL]...it pops up when saving and opening certain files, but not others. I can't figure out what causes it to happen for particular ones since they are not all in the same location, or the same file type.I am using Windows 7 64bit and this is Photoshop 7.0
I opened a document and it popped up a messages asking if I want to revert to the saved version YES or NO. This is weird because I didn't try to open the document twice. I suspect it is a macro that was causing this problem but I have many so it could take a while to locate the culprit. I also suspect a windows 7 update may have caused an interference with the macro.Â

I have to use my user because its connected to my email and at this company i cant change that. I have researched many forums and its not color styles or object styles. It does it on a new file with only one object created. I got a new computer signed on to my user account and the problem persists.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm not that fluent in Photoshop. I have a PSD, see here: [URL] . I want to open this in Illustrator so I can print it on my vinyl printer. I need to be able to have this as a vector.
Â
When I open it from a .eps, .pdf, whatever, I get some of the text as vectors, but everything else is some sort of image on 1 layer.
Â
See this screenshot:What I did in the screen shot is take the layer that has most of the items, all together, not vectored and dragged it to the left for you to see.
Even though they are saved as AI. On other computers it opens properly. The few files I can open, I can't select using the selection tool because of a clipping mask I cannot get rid of.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed cs5 and used it without problems. I downloaded a trial version of cs6, and when it expired, I get a message that say cs5 has quit unexpoectedliy everytime I try to open it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it still will not open.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a PC and have Illustrator CS4. When I open AI, the rulers do not appear. I have saved my workspace with them showing, but when I open that workspace, they do not appear. I have to go up to View>Show Rulers (or do the shortcut). I know this is extremely minor, but my rulers appear in ID CS4, so I'm wondering why I can't set AI to do that, too. It's like having to plug in your keyboard every day...you just want it to be ready to go when you get ready to work.Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just started using the CC version of the design products this weekend, and yesterday I spent all day working on a design in Illustrator. Today if I try to open it, Illlustrator just hangs - and eventually I have to force quit. I get no error messages at all.
Â
I can open the file in my old version, CS5.1. And really, I shoudl be able to open it where I created it.
Â
This is not a particularly large or complicated file.
I am trying to open a PSD file in Illustrator CS, and I get the following error: "The embedded color profile in this document will be discarded, because your Color Settings are configured for Adobe Illustrator 6.0 Compatible color management"?
I am losing color on the final product and this is going to be made into a poster.
I am using Illustrator CC and I am working on a file, after save it. I try to open it again and Illustrator stuck in thinking and never open the file.
Second time that this happened and with different files.
I've been using Illustrator for a few year now, but I've never had this problem before. Recently, I went to open up some files I had been working on. The problem was, when they opened, the files were blank. There was nothing on them.
Â
When I open pdf and eps files, they're fine, it's just ai files that open up blank.
Â
I ran a quick test where I created a new file and saved both as an ai and eps file. I closed it and quit Illustrator. I then re strated the program and opened the test file, and lo and behold, the ai file opened up blank, but the eps file was fine.
I'm on Mac OS X, running Illustrator CS6
When I open Illustrator CS6 I can see the programs "behind" it. I see Illustrator's menu bar, the tools and panels around the edges, but there is a large space that is still showing whatever program was last used (mail, Firefox etc.) that fills the middle of my screen. By contrast, when I open Photoshop CS6, the screen is filled with a solid gray fill (as well as the menu bar, tools, panels) so other programs aren't visible. I'm running a 27" iMac and OSX Lion, so there's a lot of screen that's filled with stuff that has nothing to do with Illustrator. Is there some way to set preferences or whatever so that the other programs aren't visible when I'm opening Illustrator?
Â
Also, I miss the welcome splash screen on opening AI CS5. At least the option is there when the program launched.
I'm a cartoonist, and I do rather complex vector drawings. It's no unusual for my work to have hundreds of layers, and those layers have dozens of sub-layers. When I opens said files, several layers expand to reveal all the sublayers. I then have to colapse them, one at a time. Is there a quick way to close all sub layers at once?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running CS6 on my MAC Pro OS Mountain Lion. When trying to open a multi page PDF in illustrator I often do not get the page selection pop up and it automatically opens the first page of the PDF in illustrator. It is very hit and miss which PDF's will offer me the option to select the page to open and which will not, as some work just fine but equally some will only open the first page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a document that I've worked on previously, Illustrator seems to re-set its tools - presumably to default settings. For example the pen tool fill is white, the stroke is black, the point is......etc.
Â
It's frustrating to have to change these back to the settings that I am currently using for this document.
Â
This also seems to apply to the windows down the right hand side that seem to open in default as opposed to how I last left them when I saved and closed Illustrator.
Â
I'd sort of assumed that Illustrator would 'remember' my previous settings etc and open in that way. Is there a way of opening with the same, previous settings?
I installed a OKI C301dn printer this week, thats when the problem first occured (not sure if the printer has anything to do with the problem, but it's the only 'change' i made) Most .ai files will open normally, except the one I need. The specific ai file (contains a linked jpg and a linked psd file) opens normally on my other machines (Mac and Pc) I removed the printer and CS5, used the Adobe cleaning tool and reinstalled CS5 but the problem remains. (I also did a memory check, registry clean) I'm using Win7 64bit on a i7 system with 8gb
