In Illustrator CS5, how can I save or export a set of Artboards in a given .ai file to separate SVG files?
The 'Use Artboards' feature is on the Save As... dialog but it's disabled. It looks like there was an extension (Illustrator HTML5 Pack for CS5) available at one time but its appears to have been removed from Adobe's site.

I've got a 2x8 (wide) grid of artboards, and would like to export all of them to a single PNG as they appear. Unfortunately, Illustrator (CS6) is cropping the edges of the PNG to the objects in the artboards, rather than to the edges of the outer artboards. Is there some way to change this behaviour?
I've tried creating an unstroke, unfilled object that encompasses all of the artboards, but Illustrator seems to be ignoring it in the export (presumably because it's not printed).
I have a requirement to export each artboard into jpeg programmatic within plugin.

When I try to save as PDF the tick box for "Use Artboards" is disabled, so when I save it saves the whole canvas instead of only what is on the artboard. When I try to export I can tick the tick box but the document still saves the whole canvas with everything that is "hanging off" the artboard too. The artboard is the exact size of the document.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a large Illustrator file with five artboards, my client asked for seperate PDF's of each artboard which is what I'm used to, but they've also asked for a PDF that shows all the artboards at the same time (basically looking like it does from the file I'm working on). I've trawled the settings and the web but to no avail. I've tried printing to PDF from the print menu but the only printer is Adobe Postscript File; whereas online people can select PDF from the menu settings. Am I missing something here?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do some workflow enhancements. For our games we need to export to PNG at different resolutions for different mobile devices. I use a artboard per asset and currently manually export 3 times (using file/export/png with use artboards option), at 72 dpi, 144 dpi and 33.75 dpi.
I've been modifying a simple Javascript I downlaoded and have got it save to different fixed locations at different scales. All good. However exporting every artboard each time will cause issues with our version control system and take too long. It's not really a solution.
So I need a way to either only export the current selected artboards (which I believe can't be done) or somewho show the artboard range dialog that the system uses. Either of those would be a good solution.

I've downsaved the file as an ai file for CS6 in CS7, however when I go to open it in CS6 it forces me to open each artboard as a separate file. How can I save it so the file will open normally?

The dimensions of the poster are 27" x 40" (industry standard film poster).I am a little uncertain in working with large files in Illustrator, so I have several problems that have come up in several design projects using similar large formats.
The file size is MASSIVE. This poster uses several large, high-res images that I've embedded. I didn't want them to pixelate, so I made sure they were high quality. After embedding all these images, along with the vector graphics, the entire .ai file is 500MB. How can I reduce this file size? Can I do something with the images to make the .ai file smaller? I made my artboard 27" x 40" - the final size of the poster. Is this standard practice? Or when designing for a large print format, are you supposed to make a smaller, more manageable artboard size, and then scale up after to avoid these massive file sizes?
I need to upload my support files for the project, including .ai and .eps - so it won't work if they're 500MB. This would be good info to understand for all projects I think.
I have 30 Illustrator pdf files created in Illustrator 10 that I would like to transform into one Illustrator CS6 file with each file being a separate artboard. I would like to import them all at once and not have to do it one by one.

While "Draw" of Coreldraw X5 is working well, Corel Photopaint X5 does not "Save", "Save as..." or "Export" files. It just does nothing, when I choose to save a file under "something.cpt". It works, as long as it is a JPG, but not as a CPT. I am working on a Win7, with CorelX5 in german. Support told me to reinstall.

When saving for web or exporting an artboard is there any way to pre-populate the save file name dialog box with the artboard's given name. It would save having to re-name the file and make good use of that metadata.

Tested using a small file size and art board, and both save for devices and exporting just gives a loading wheel with no results (let it go for 2 hours before restarting). We have tried reinstalling program with no change in results. The process works fine with the same creative cloud account on a Mac running Lion.
A simple action.
File>Export>.bmpClose
If I run the action on one file, it works perfect.
If I try to run it as a batch, it creates the bmp files fine.
But it also creates either a .ai file, or two .eps files!
Writing one or two extra files signifiantly shows the process down.
After I run the batch it is not hard to simply delete the extra .eps/ai files of course.
But writing those files seriously slows the process down, and I have about 89,000 more files to go.

I'm am SO DEVASTATED that CS6 got rid of the option to save as CSS layers in Save for Web. I just updated from 5 to 6 and now I'm looking for an alternative but am having no luck. I've tried some scripts I've found online but none of them work the way I need, or at all.
I do animation in AI where each layer is a frame on the animation. In CS5 I could Save for Web and check the Export as CSS Layers box. This would export all the layers in my AI file to pngs, where each layer is it's own png file, in one folder. I could then import them as an image sequence in Photoshop and turn layers on and off with each frame to create my animation.
I tried exporting my AI file to a PSD file with maximum editability but the more complicated the animation (meaning the more layers and the more objects on each layer) it would start flattening layers without warning. Not to mention the rendering time just opening the file in Photoshop and then trying to save it there once I had created all my frames. Photoshop froze on me 6 times this morning while I was trying things out.
I'm desperate for a simple way to do the CSS layer trick. If I can't find one, I'm going to have to go back to CS5 permanently, or until I can find a solution.
I am using Illustrator CS6 on OS X 10.8.4. Anything that rasterizes the artwork causes Illustrator to hang. Export (PNG), Save for Web, Filters like Drop Shadow or Gaussian Blur (even when just checking the preview box).
I've read through some discussions that suggested:
– Uninstalling the entire CS6 suite and re-intalling it
– Going into Disk Utitlity and 'Repair Permissions'
– Creating a new user account on my Macbook, deleted the old user account and re-installed the CS6 suite
But none of the above suggestions worked. As soon as I create a new user account Illustrator began to crash again upon export the next of couple days.
I've created an image that has some bleeds and needs to be saved as a JPEG for web display. If I just export it (or save for web and devices), the off-artboard stuff shows up in the saved image (which, of course, is bigger than the artboard). I've created a mask layer that masks the visibility of the excess artwork within AI and the saved file, but the off-artboard area occupied by the masked artwork is still there in the saved image. How can I non-destructively hide this stuff during saves, saving just the artboard?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIllustrator incorrectly crops artwork too small by a few pixel when using Save for Web or Export. If you fit an artboard to your artwork, either manually using smart guides or by using the "Fit to Selected" command, it will look correct in the work area but when you go to Save for Web it will be noticeably truncated on the right and bottom sides. If all the artwork is supposed to be within the artboard then toggling "Clip to Artboard" will actually change the size of the exported image by 1 or 2 pixels when it shouldn't change at all.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I record a save for web action that exports my artboard in 3 file sizes. 100%, 200% and 400% it works for the first few files.
Then suddenly after a while the first export changes its width and height from 100% to 111%, but not just 111% width and height equally. No it pulls it out of proportion too.
When I manually enter 100% again it all pops back to the correct aspect ration.The 200% and 400% still behave as expected.
If I rerecord it it starts working again. But that defeats the purpose.
