Just for clarification, are there any drawbacks to just dragging an image from my desktop onto an artboard instead of placing it? The image will not be autotraced, and will become part of a layout in my AI file.
View 6 RepliesWhen I drag a selection to the edge of the window enough to cause the artboard to move while holding a selection, the whole window fills with clutter built of the selection.
As soon as I stop dragging and release the mouse, the window clears and the move is completed appropriately.
I hope the image can go well with my description...
Using CS6 Mac, I am un successful in dragging and dropping a scanned image from PS to Illustrator.In the past i was able to do this with CS3 PC.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhy the image stretches when I'm trying to place it on a page of a 3D book I created in Illustrator? I do realize the geometric lines vary depending on the shape of the page I'm placing the image on, but how can I avoid the stretch? Is there a way to move the lines, or? I read somewhere that if you rasterize the image, it shouldn't stretch. However, it still does (or I just don't know how to rasterize properly)

I'm having trouble importing images in Illustrator CS6. Dragging from finder doesn't work, nor does the "place" option. When opening an image in illustrator, all i get is a blank document.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on designs in Illustrator and preparing an InDesign document with all of the graphics in one file for the client to review. The artboards are set to the size of a pier sign that will be all wood, but there are left graphics on the wood that will be laser cut and these extend beyond the edge of the wood. When I place the separate artboards in InDesign, they are cropped to the edge and I'd like to show how the left graphics extend beyond it. I've tried different import options but none of them show beyond the trim. (Also, if it makes a difference, the artboard sizes are fairly large—about 60" wide)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to cut (or copy) a section from an image on my artboard, but I can't see to find a way to do it. For example, in Microsoft paint I can use the select tool to draw a rectangle around part of the image and Copy or Cut that selection into the clipboard and paste it back.
I know I can cut this out and paste it onto an Artboard, but I am curious about the capability in Illustrator.
I am making a business card in Illustrator 6.
I placed an image of my black signature with transparent background on the white background business card, and now it is leaving a box were that signature image canvas ends. This happens with both a .psd and .pnd files.
Now if I could just go into photoshop and extend the canvas and leave the image the same size that would be great. When I try to do this though there is still the old canvas boundary line.
If I was able to start all over I would have had the original canvas size way wider than the image of my signature that I drew on it. That way it's boundaries would now be outside of my business cards boundries and I would not be seeing those black boundary lines.
I have a document with several artboards. In each artboard is a different linked image. Is there a way to add the linked filename to the bottom of each artboard?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a logo whose letters have an image in them - which I've got figured out (turning letters to outlines, creating clipping mask with image). The trouble is, once the image is inside the letters, I can't figure out how to then give the letters a thin stroke outline. Is this possible? The image I've placed is high contrast black and white, so when I create the clipping mask, large chunks of the letters disappear.

When dragging and dropping an image from FF 20/21 into AI CS6, it forces elements on the art board to be displaced.The image dragged into the app will plop into the middle of the art board, and anything in the file just gets moved.
Where it gets moved to is inconsistent- but it appears to always move on a diagonal.
My image is overlapping artboard borders,is there any easy way to cut/trim all overlapping objects??

I want the photoshop image to cover up part of a word in illustrator; however, when I place the image in illustartor, there is a white square that surrounds my photoshop image. So basically I have an white square around my photoshop image and when I try to put it on top of something in illustrator the white square goes with it. View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I drag an image into Photoshop, it is TINY. It doesn't matter the resolution of the image. It could be the biggest image in the universe and it shows up so small to where I have to use Free Transform every single time. Even the eraser is so small that I can't see it. It can be on 2500 but the eraser is a dot.
Is my Photoshop on a certain setting that I can change? This is my first time using the software on my new Macbook.
Before, whilst in Google Inspect on any webpage I could drag an image onto the Photoshop application icon on the dock = opens up in Photoshop + with PNG transparency.
Now this has stopped working for an unknown reason about 2-3 months ago after updating. I'll drag the image over the application icon on the dock as before, but then nothing opens. As a result, my workflow is now more inefficient and inconvenient.
You know those "warp a celebrity" flash or java games where you click on part of the celebrity's face and drag the mouse, and the image warps? Can this sort of thing be done to your images in photoshop 6.0? (That's the version I have)
If this can't be done in Photoshop 6.0, does anyone know of a simple freeware program that I can use to warp images "celebrity warp" style?
Why does an image darken while dragging the window within Photoshop CS4?
Once the window is released with the mouse/pen, it snaps back to how it was?
Explained further:
Open an image in Photoshop CS4.
Click & hold the grey title bar at the top of the image.
Move it around within the Photoshop window.
It noticably "pops" - darkens.
Release the mouse/pen, image snaps back to how it was.
Weird
I've put a sample point on a section of the image, numbers don't change.
I've tried disabling "Open GL Drawing"
- Doesn't happen but...
- Image appears darker as per when dragging with "Open GL Drawing enabled.
- Numbers remain the same on the sample point.
Hope this makes sense.

problem:if i drag an image on my secondary (image editing) monitor the images saturation/color changes while i drag it. on mouse release it goes back to normal.this doesnt happen on my primary (system etc) monitor.yes i could probably workaround making my editing monitor my primary monitor, but i don't want to, because i want it free of windows bars and similar rubbish.
I'm writing because after reinstall the Mountain Lion (10.8.4), I realized that dragging an image from Chrome (29.0. 1547. 62) to the dock icon Photoshop CS6 the icon is not active and therefore the program does not open with the image, I tried with firefox (23.0.1) and the dock icon photoshop is animated and open photoshop but show the following message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." I tried with SAFARI and all fine, without problems. I note that before reinstallation and after doing a clean install (I do a back up, I formated the hard drive and install the mountain lion) this option worked perfect.
I check the following path ~ / Library / Caches / TemporaryItems that is where store the pictures as you take the browser and when stored in the folder but never open photoshop, I want to emphasize that opening photoshop and open a blank canvas, I can drag and drop (drag and drop) and the image appears, but with the dock icon anymore.
I have many theories but also not solve:
1. It's a permissions problem.
2. Any option is not enabled (OS X or photoshop) or not installed
3. Some kind of incompatibility, but again and worked without problems.
I'm currently trying to place a watermark on my images, and I'd like it to appear a certain distance from the edge, regardless of the image's size. I tried using the "Place" command, but I don't think there's a way to specify a distance from the edge.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got single clip in desktop and it got an alpha embedded. If i drag that clip into the cfx , the clip will be interpreted correctly where alpha will be recognized. The problem in action is when i drag into action schematic, the alpha is ignored Smoke should know if there's alpha embedded then by default it should use it. ANother problem is when in media list , i add new media then click the clip twice (to grab F and M from the same clip), the result : i got blank alpha. Again it should load the alpha while there's alpha embedded . I think , this should become the dafault behaviour to deal with alpha. Although loading this clip in cfx schematic will solve the problem, i think the action still need to be fixed.
Also it should be cool feature if i can drag the clip from library and drop it in media list , and it will replace the media of the selected item in media list.
how to go about making a frame or edging around and image such as the photo example.

Magic wand outside the picture.
Select>Inverse.
Stroke - set to 1 pixel and desired colour.
New Layer
Move Marquee box to desired position
Stroke again
Move 2nd layer to back
