View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I have a group of objects selected and I go to create a boundary around the entire thing to use as a cut line, sometimes parts of the group are excluded. I made sure all of the objects were on the same layer and that everything was indeed selected, but nothing I do seems to make a difference.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 1 machine in the office that when using super hatch it will not "hatch" the entire area as one hatch, it breaks it into separate image based pieces. The rest of the office, it hatches as one entity so it can be changed easily. Even if we use the group command, it will not group them.

View 6 Replies View RelatedJust for clarification, are there any drawbacks to just dragging an image from my desktop onto an artboard instead of placing it? The image will not be autotraced, and will become part of a layout in my AI file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I drag a selection to the edge of the window enough to cause the artboard to move while holding a selection, the whole window fills with clutter built of the selection.
As soon as I stop dragging and release the mouse, the window clears and the move is completed appropriately.
I hope the image can go well with my description...
I've tried using GIMP many times, yet I've accomplished very little, given all of GIMP's functionality. For example:
If I want to select part of an image and copy it to another area or to a new image/layer, and also FEATHER the edges, here's how I'd do it in an old graphics app I often used years ago:
1. Select the area.2. Hold Ctrl while moving selection with Move tool.3. Use the slider to soften the edges to my liking.4. Press Enter to anchor selection. Done.
And there were sliders also for opacity and other things. So very SIMPLE because the prog. was designed very intuitively. How would I accomplish the same in GIMP? Well, most of the time, I WOULD ACCOMPLISH NOTHING! At best, I'd enter values into the box, not like the result, enter new values, repeat. And that's on a good day.
Somebody write a SCRIPT/PLUGIN that allows the use of sliders exactly as described above! I desperately want to be a HAPPY GIMP user, but I'm growing ever more hopeless. I don't want to turn on my older PC just to use a graphics app that actually lets me get things done.
when I select the crop tool, my image disappears during the entire crop process. I can only see the image in the preview pane. Why is this happening? I am using the most current version of Lightroom, and I am on a PC.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI made a complex sketch, and want to extrude. When i want to select the whole sketch, i position the mouse on the upper left of the screen and drag down and right, but no window is created.
And i cannot add segments to the selection, even with pressing SHIFT, because immediately after the first is selected, it is extruded.you see on the picture i attached that some segments (in red) are connected. how can i connect all the sketch together, so when i will select it everything is selected.
Is it possible to select an area then within that area select by color?

Is there a key command to do what you just did? For instance, I build charts and sometimes I need to rotate every piece of the chart by 90 degrees... one piece at a time. Is there a key command that will just let me repeat this over and over? I'm using Illustrator CS6 on a Mac.
I don't want to rotate the whole chart, just pieces of it... that's why I don't just select all and rotate at once...
Is cropping to a larger image the same thing as resampling...? I believe I was told it handled the information differently without adding extra pixels... is this true.?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to have a palette of about a dozen or so of my favorite brushes, but I want to select them from the hundreds of brushes which can be loaded. Once I load a set, it is a very, very time consuming process to delete a couple of hundred individual brushes from the set so that I have only the few I want.
Is there a better way to do this? Can multiple brushes somehow be deleted at once? Or can I inspect brush sets and choose to load the individual brushes which interest me?
I've drawn a room in Autocad Architecture 2011. I've got layers for doors, windows stairs etc. I've noticed that one door needs to have it's elevation changed. But when I try to select the door, the door and the entire wall it's in gets selected and I can't edit (move) the door. I can't do anything to the door. I don't want to explode the entire selection because I think it will cause more problems that what I currently have. The wall and the door when selected are identified as a "Block Reference".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Mac working in Illustrator CS6. I went to print out of the print dialog box and after I printed, I noticed that the margins are larger on one side that the other. I re-opened the print dialog box and double clicked in the area that shows the artwork prior to print, to re center the artwork in the window, and noticed that there two dotted lines in thw window. One being the artwork, and the other is the image printable area.
Well when I double clicked on the dialog box to re-center the artwork in the prinatble area, the art works centers, but the printer image area is offset, or nudged upward. When I print the margins are larger on one side and not centered. Heres the million dollar question,"How do I re-center the image area for printing so when I print, the artwork is centered?" I'm not printing boarderless. I will try to include a pic if needed.
I'm new to Maya, so this is likely something I'm just missing or that I've done without realizing it, however...
I've created a scene with a few polygonal objects. As an example, imagine a house with plants around it and a cloud above. The plants are spaced evenly along a curve, and the cloud is also made using a Paint Effect with a Modifier around it to control it's shape using slight forces, etc.
However, when it's done and I select the entire group of objects to drag to a different position, weird things happen. The plants seem to move much more quickly in that direction, so that soon they're no longer positioned where they should be at the base of the house, and the clouds move in the opposite direction from where I'm dragging (i.e. down not up). What I'll call the 'normal' polygonal objects (e.g. the house, car, etc.) all move fine, but I cannot figure out how to fix the other items so everything maintains its relative position, or lock the whole scene together to move as a group.
I've tried to combine them, and even 'parent' everything to the house, but I suspect I've changed something like a control handle position or rotated something that now moves opposite the normal xyz directions.
Surprisingly i can't find any mention of this anywhere on the intertubes - very often I have a placed (photoshop/tiff) graphic with transparent background overlaying (on top of) a spot color area, the spot color prints out completely different from how it should be (and how it is on non-overlapped areas).
I've tried everything i can think of, including making an opacity mask to 'hide' the supposedly transpararent areas of the placed grahic. I know a clipping path might work, but some art is too complex for that.
I am new to Illustrator, but know that I need to select the object I'd like to trace before using Image Trace. The problem is every time I used the selection tool, the entire picture is selected, and then traced.
