I don't know which version of Illustrator, there was this option where you could see all the details form objects or anchor points. But in CS4 I'm not able to find it. Some weird fuction key combi?
View 2 RepliesI have simple a 3D bottle shape created from about 16 points and I am trying to map a gif image on to it usning CS5. No matter what I have done (work from a new document, etc.) I always get the error message. I also receive this error when I attempt to map a jpg image on to the same shape. I have attempted this on three different Windows 7 machines running CS5 with the same result. When I try it with CS6 the program closes with a catastrophic error and no message. I do not receive this error using the default symbols. The gif and jpg images are imported and imbedded into the document and then moved to the symbols library.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having some trouble with a file in Illustrator CS6. Within a layer, when I add a fill to an object, the fill doesn't block out the object paths beneath. For instance, say I have a square object overlapping a circle object in Layer 1. The square object is above the circle in the layer. When I add a fill to the square, the circle stroke still shows through the square even though the overlapped part should be blocked out by the fill. The square is set to normal visibility, and I have made sure that there are no duplicate paths that would account for what I am seeing. (I.e., it's not a case where there's a second identical circle path that is on top of the square, so that it remains visible in spite of the fill.)
Other details:
- I'm mainly working with a white fill, but the problem is the same with fills of any color
- When there's a fill color in the circle path as well, the circle's fill color *is* blocked out—just not its stroke.
- I have restarted Illustrator and restarted my computer and these have not changed anything.
- There are other layers within the same document where the normal layering rules work.
- I tried copy/pasting some of the problem objects into a new document, and in the new document, the fill works properly.
- If I move the problem objects to another layer, then the fill works as it should. But as I'm dealing with a number of paths, it doesn't make sense to create a layer for each to solve the problem.
I can't tell if it's a matter of working in too large or complex a file.
I'm working with 27 artboard in illustrator for one project. I would like to select the object I need to get to in my layers panel and have illustrator "jump/navigate" me to the object where it resides on the artboard. Is this possible?

In the end the letters will all be the light blue color that "Kuhns" is right now, I'm just using the different colors to explain my problem. I want the pink part of the "C" to be in front of the "K", but I want the black part of the "C" to be behind the "K", giving the illusion that the "C" is passing through the "K" (this will only be visible cause of the drop shadows on both letters, since they wil both be the same color) Is there a way to do this?
I got this effect in Photoshop, but I need to do it with vectors because the size of the image that has to be uploaded to my website is so small that you lose all detail if its a bitmap (52 pixels x 103 pixels) In addition to the effect explained above I am trying to get a bevel effect. In Photoshop it works and is easy to do but in illustrator the settings are all different and anything I enter looks totally different.
The settings that I'm using in Photoshop are: Style: inner bevel, technique: smooth,depth: 1%, direction: up, size 10 px, soften 0 px, angle:,120 degrees, altitude: 30 degrees, highlight mode: screen, Opacity: 75%, shadow mode: multiply, Opacity:75%. How do I get this same effect in illustrator?
I'm using CS5. When I click on an object within a group containing only that object, appearance tap shows the group's appearance. I can't select the object when the group only has one object. So if I want to modify the object, I have to ungroup or add additional object into the group.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I drag an effect from the target circle of one object to anther in the layer's panel it replaces the effect along with all appearance. But I want just to add the effect. For example, a layer has a drop shadow and a path, round corners. I want to move the drop shadow from the layer to the path so that the path now has the round corners and the drop shadow. To do this I have to open the shadow effect of the layer wright down its parameters, then create a shadow effect for the path with the same parameters which is a lot of work.

I see how Photoshop CS3 uses the History Log for actions, but can it be set up to not only record the step but what was done in that step, i.e., a History Log entry shows "curves" but doesn't show that a "darker" preset was used in that step.
I'm having trouble modelling smoothed polygon objects in non-destructive ways, meaning editing the poly model often messes up the TurboSmooth applied to it. Example pic below.
Some tips or tricks to add details to objects in a better way? I know about adding details using separate floating objects, but it doesn't look very good close up.
Is there a way within Photoshop CS5 to add Author/photographer details to image. When I save?
I have to macs with photoshop and I need to monitor who is editting what I figure if everything saved on my machine gets tagged I could work it out from there? A bit like how microsoft word will add the author by default.

Is it possible to insert a .VSP project timeline details within another project timeline ? My purpose is to be able to edit the various components of an existing timeline project (titles, transitions, some photos and videos deleted or inserted,...) while intergrating it within another .VSP project. I tried the "insert a VS project" feature but it is inserted as one video in the top video/photo timeline, preventing me from modifying any of its components ?

I'm trying to project a normal map from a high poly model onto its low-poly version but I'm having some problems.
I modeled some details on the high-poly model as you can see in FIG.1.
The details all have the same depth and everything as can be seen on FIG.2
But yet when the normal map renders, the detail loses depth the further they go from the center and the squarish detail at the bottom doesn't even show up at all. (FIG.3)
I tried pretty much everything I could think of to fix this, but nothing works.

I am working on a lab with cabinets. I changed the door to a single window (left/top image) from a solid door (right/bottom image) and now my renderings (left/top image) look like crap. Have I just pushed my card too far..
Using AutoCAD 2012 MEP, render set at Presentation 1024x768, walls are xref'd in.
PS - I did not spec the pc or cad package, just working with what my employer set me up with. Full pc stats are in my profile.
I want to change the color of my car whilst preserving all the details like door handles but change seem to figure out a way.

We have a detailed drawn image. This has been scanned at 600 dpi and put into Photoshop to enhance the image.We need to know what to do in Photoshop to meet the needs of the printer and get the best possible image for printing.
I would like to make some sort of an "online" catalog where the engineers could review details, and just tell the draftsmen the details they would like to include in their design set. I'd be very interested in any system that you might use. We, at one time, used printed booklets for the engineers, but got to be a hassle when details changed. Is there a good software system that might make this an easy task?

The details that we need to make understandable are something too small because there is just no space on the paper for us to make this really clear by eg using the scale 1:1.

Photoshop is new to me. I like to paint locomotives for a game, but am wondering how to change the colors from blue to black and keep all the shading and door details. When I use the paint brush I can never seem to get the side panels into the correct color without losing a lot of detail.
