AutoCAD Inventor :: Suppress Component In Multiple Level Of Details

Feb 7, 2012

You are using an assembly with many LODs. Each time you place a component in your assembly , that one will be active in all level of Details. For some configurations, you would like one component to be active in only one LOD. Inc.

AutoCAD Inventor :: View Details In IDW

Dec 12, 2013

given I do a foreshortened view. Is there a way to fit the shortenings parameters to a view in a different window with a different reference file?

If not it would be a little awkward to achieve exactly the same result with a different file. As replacing references does´nt work with single view representation I´m stuck with manual- non constrained alignment of view details... which can´t be right I guess.

if there was a way to do it "right" without the need to switch to AutoCAD.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Details From One Sheet To Another In 2012?

Oct 2, 2012

We work on A3 size sheets and becourse we have a lack of plotters we can not exceed this size. What the next entails ... The details that we need to make understandable are something too small because there is just no space on the paper for us to make this really clear by eg using the scale 1:1.

Our question is:

-Can I place a created detail from Sheet 01 on to another sheet?

-Can I have a reference in the partkist to this Sheet 03?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Part Details From Assembly View

Apr 2, 2013

Is there a quick way to detail parts from an assembly without having to browse to a part and then search through and select a part and insert a Base View?

For instance from within SolidWorks you can insert a view of an assembly and if you need to detail any part within that assembly you can simply click/select on the part in an assembly view and right click insert view then your View Menu pops up and you are moving forward. If you have to detail several parts you can spit out their Base Views in a matter of seconds. Even if you are making a seperate sheet just for the parts it is easier to insert an assembly view off the sheet and select the parts from there insert all of your part views then delete the assembly view if you want. You can also go to the properties of each view and link the balloons to your assembly BOM.

It is very useful if you are generating drawings such as I do with most parts for the assembly being detailed on the same sheets.

So is there a quick way to get the parts detailed?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Remove Design Details From File?

Dec 4, 2013

In a 3d model, say an ipt or iam file, it usually shows the design details in the browser.

These details tells that the way you created the sketches, features, planes, model, etc.

Are there any possibilities to remove the design details from the file?

I am not talking about the export formats (ie. STP, STL, SAT, etc) I ask this because I sometimes don't want to show details that how I created the models.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Manage Tab Doesn't Load Correctly?

Sep 20, 2012

It doesn't happen very often (apparently, 8 days ago was the last time), but I would like to know more about this error.

The .png I've attached shows what happens more easily than I can describe it.

It only happens on Part1 (and possible Assembly1?).  If I've made a new part and the menu loaded correctly, it won't load improperly on a later new part (, like Part2, Part 3, etc).  It does not happen saved parts that I open.  If I have other files open when this happens, the Manage menu seems to be correct in any file, but Part1.  Closing IV and reopening has fixed it every time, but one.  The time closing/reopening IV didn't fix it, I closed it again, and reloding IV again, the menu was fine.

The visible portions of the buttons work correctly, but the empty spaces where the icons for the button should appear, do nothing.

No other tab has done this.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Manage LOD In Multi-user Setting

Dec 10, 2013

We have multiple clients and each client has multiple projects. Each project gets its own master assembly that contains multiple equipment layouts. This allows us to show everything together. In each master assembly, we create LODs to display equipment layouts side by side for connecting things one to another and to avoid collisions.

Example: The master assembly may contain 8 equipment layouts. Each layout is for a sub-process within the whole process. We create LODs for different groupings of layouts so that we can zero in on anything in particular that we wish to focus on. By choosing an LOD in the open dialogue box prior to opening the master assembly, performance is improved because we're only opening what we need instead of everything.

Within an equipment layout are any number of assemblies. We can create LODs to show the layout without conveyors or to show different options we've developed to present as concepts for approval prior to detailed design. Sometimes we are adding assemblies to an existing layout so we'll create an LOD for existing, one for as built, one for purposed.

how to create or modify LODs. Therefore, we are getting LODs with users' initials or a date or "doohickey". We've got to come up with something that makes sense now and will make sense later.

Any guideline for managing LODs in a multi-user environment?

AutoCAD Inventor :: File - Open Uses List Not Details In View Menu?

Aug 12, 2005

When I use File > Open or Place Component the Windows file browser opens in List mode which means that I have to use the horizontal scroll bar to browse the directory. I would like it to open in Detail mode [List and Detail are some of the view choices under the View Menu of the Windows file browser window] allowing me to browse with the vertical scroll bar. -- I think it's ergonomically eaisier.

I can make the change from the View Menu but it doesn't hold. I have checked to see that Windows 2000 is set for Details when using Windows Explorer.

Are there any settings in Inventor to force Detail mode?

I'm having an issue with the order of my BOM. In the picture below I have an assembly with subassembly STR-35-241-19L-17450. The BOM for the subassembly is on the right in the picture and is ordered the way it should be. However when I open the BOM in the Top level assembly (left in the picture) the order is not the same. In fact the order is completely random for the subassembly. I need this order to match the subassembly so I can export it into our ERP system.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Disable Level Of Detail?

Mar 19, 2012

Is there a way to disable the level of detail?  I personally find this feature most annoying.

I am now starting to understand it after being tripped up by it early in my Inventor carrier.

But even now in understanding it more, I see no point in it.

The problem I have is I can have more then one level of detail in my model to show a specific way in my

one drawing.  Then this specific level of detail when changed for a different drawing will screw with the first drawing.

Why can't one just suppress certain items without having to worry about this.  Heck, isn't this what Iparts and iassemblies are for?

How do I control level of detail with ilogic or how am i suppose to turn parts on and off.I have seen some impressive assemblies controlled with ilogic how do they do it.
