View 1 RepliesMy company manufacturs many sheet metal parts that ends up being painted. We need to describe both material and surface treatment in the title blocks on our idw's. Inventor parts then have a selected material (the required steel type) and a color override is applied (the required paint job) But color override is not just like that to retrieve for the title block, like standard iproperties like
<MATERIAL> or <THICKNESS>
What is the difference between an Override and a Child Override?
Why do some sections have Override Check Boxes but no Child Override Arrows, and vice versa?
What happens when you click a Green Check Mark in the box?
What happens when you click a Red "X" on the arrow?

I'm using Sheet Set Manager in Autocad 2011. I'm using 'page setup override', and as plot area 'print extents'. So far, so good. Until someone forgets something outside the title block, and the extents feature is not good anymore (several people working in the same projects).
So, I decide to use as plot area 'Layout' instead, typing the X & Y to determine the area to be plotted.
Now, the setup "override" doesn't override. It’s using the drawing plot area from the drawing itself, which completely defeats the purpose. Am I missing something?
I have a drawing with polylines that are set to color 6 in model space and are also set to color bylayer.
When I go to my layout and click inside my viewport and pull up layer manager and change the viewport color for that layer to color 12, only parts of the polylines change to the color 12 while other parts remain color 6.
If while I'm in the viewport I change the model color as well to color 12, then all the polylines turn to color 12.This is a problem though, because in some layouts I what that layer to be color 6, and in others I want it to be color 12, or 4 or 5 or whatever.
I could not match this situation even if I wanted to where you draw a line, and half of it is one color while the other half is another color.why the viewport color overrides are behaving like this.
I need to change the color of a layer in one of my viewports, which I set using the layer manager. That change doesn't show up in the viewport however.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've created an action that uses the save for web dialogue to optimise images for the web. When I use the batch command to process a full folder of images, even though I have "Override action "save as" command" checked, it ignores this and still uses the location that was used when the action was created.
Apparently this is a known issue in CS6 and previous versions but whether this has been fixed in Photoshop CC?
How I can override the CoG for an imported part. I have an imported motor as one part, Inventor sees the CoG as though it's one solid piece but in reality this is not true. I can override the mass so why cant I override the CoG???

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to change the value of the qty in the bom using ilogic with this expression

I am clearing an override of a part in a subassembly. I tried to use the clear appearance button but I get message saying Active Design View has no appearance overrides which is not true. You can see in my attachment there clearly is an override from Chrome-Polished in the IPT to Satin- Brushed in the IAM.
There is no "Clear Override" in the Appearance pull down. I think I used to be able to click on color As Part in previous Inventor version but now it's different. The black areas are embossed features representing silkscreened graphics I need to preserve.
I tried to post the files in Inventor/Customer Files NG but the "new message" button was grayed out & not working.
I'm driving an Inventor GA using iLogic, within this GA are various guard sub-assemblies........... I designed it so that if the material for the sub assemblies is changed then the sheet thickness is also changed (eg, if alu = 3mm sht, mld stl = 2mm). Look at the attached, the grey parts are, in reality, meshed. However i do not want to create the meshed profiles so can i override the density (x0.7) using iLogic. I could override the mass by adding (0.7 x mass) BUT this does not update if the geometry changes (also driven by the GA.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNoticed this when going through my photos tonight. When using the full screen preview in the Manage workspace, a photo will become more magenta after every pass.
Duplicate this by:
1. Double click on an image in the manage workspace to bring up the full screen preview. Take note of the colors.
2. Press the right arrow on your keyboard to advance to the next image.
3. Press the left arrow on the keyboard to return to the original image. Examine the colors...for me it is slightly more magenta. To make this change more obvious switch back and forth between the original and 2nd image. For me, the images become extremely magenta.
I'll include 2 images of one photo....the only difference being that the "magenta" one has gone through the process above 6 times.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI try to assign a shortcut to a function using VBA. (I find the same problem when I do it through the UI of Inventor)
ThisApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions.Item(...).OverrideShortcut
ThisApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions.Item(...).OverrideShortcutType
when I assign "" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType is kNoShortcut
when I assign "D" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType is kAliasShortcut
when I assign "Ctrl+D" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType is kAcceleratorShortcut
So far so good but now:
when I assign "F11" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType becomes kAliasShortcut resulting in:
I have to type F 11 to launch the command. What I want is to Press the key F11 to lunch the command instead of typing F 11
(This works good with Ctrl+D but not with F11)
Can I work around this to use the Function key's ?
I would like to overide the dimension value with a letter - Dim "A" etc. but the overide box will not accept an alphabetical input. At present, the only way I can get around this is by sketching the basic dimension box separately.
View 9 Replies View RelatedRight now I am working on a Win 7 64 computer and have a Canon MP810 printer. I read the materials on color management and set my color management in "Print" in Lightroom 4 to "managed by printer". My printer color management in advanced settings is set all to defaults. When I print a photo from Lightroom 4, there is a distinct magenta cast to the entire photo, but it's most observable in midtone neutrals. A burnt out section of a lightbulb goes white, for instance, but greys seem to go pinkish, greens to a rust, etc. I also printed the same photo from a windows file, using Windows 7 print mode. That photo seemed to go slightly magenta in the neutrals but not nearly to the same degree. what I might try or test to see if I can get my print colors more accurate?

It doesn't happen very often (apparently, 8 days ago was the last time), but I would like to know more about this error.
The .png I've attached shows what happens more easily than I can describe it.
It only happens on Part1 (and possible Assembly1?). If I've made a new part and the menu loaded correctly, it won't load improperly on a later new part (, like Part2, Part 3, etc). It does not happen saved parts that I open. If I have other files open when this happens, the Manage menu seems to be correct in any file, but Part1. Closing IV and reopening has fixed it every time, but one. The time closing/reopening IV didn't fix it, I closed it again, and reloding IV again, the menu was fine.
The visible portions of the buttons work correctly, but the empty spaces where the icons for the button should appear, do nothing.
No other tab has done this.
We have multiple clients and each client has multiple projects. Each project gets its own master assembly that contains multiple equipment layouts. This allows us to show everything together. In each master assembly, we create LODs to display equipment layouts side by side for connecting things one to another and to avoid collisions.
Example: The master assembly may contain 8 equipment layouts. Each layout is for a sub-process within the whole process. We create LODs for different groupings of layouts so that we can zero in on anything in particular that we wish to focus on. By choosing an LOD in the open dialogue box prior to opening the master assembly, performance is improved because we're only opening what we need instead of everything.
Within an equipment layout are any number of assemblies. We can create LODs to show the layout without conveyors or to show different options we've developed to present as concepts for approval prior to detailed design. Sometimes we are adding assemblies to an existing layout so we'll create an LOD for existing, one for as built, one for purposed.
how to create or modify LODs. Therefore, we are getting LODs with users' initials or a date or "doohickey". We've got to come up with something that makes sense now and will make sense later.
Any guideline for managing LODs in a multi-user environment?
Basically I need to have 2 configurations of an assembly. These assemblies are identical except there is one part that will vary within them. Eventually I would like to be able to drive an assembly with multiple part configurations and suppressing and unsuppressing of parts from a table however this is my starting spot.

I've always had problems with getting FG to generate the right part numbers and file names. I have the part numbers figured out, but does Frame Generator still not have a good way to automatically create unique file names for frame members? If no one can get it to automatically generate unique file names, how do you manage all of the duplicate file names generated over time?

I am currently taking web design with the centre for distance education and am trying to do a fairly basic assignment with photoshop. So, I am being asked to first create a layer with an orange fill to it. Then I am asked to create a layer mask, I am then asked to put an image behind the orange which I am then asked to use the brush tool with black to see through the orange colour and through to the image. I am having no problem with this until I am asked to change the brush colour to white and go over the previously bushed areas and restore the orange colour. When I do this nothing happens.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new computer and want to move the databse catalog over. I backed up in PSE 9 to an external hard drive. I connected to HD to the new computer and tried a resotre catalog. I chose "New Location" since I was going from XP to Windows 7 and was unsure if there would be a conflict with file locations. I also chose "Restore Original Floder Strucure". Very quickly I recieve an error message "Could not restor file .xml". I have run Restore Catalog several times and each time a DIFFERENT FILE receives the error message. I then disabled Norton Anti Virus Auto-Protect. I then disabled several programs running in the background. Same problem. I then copied the Backup Catalog to the new computer and tried to Restore it from there. Same Problem. I have now run a Repair Catalog on the original file. PSE states there is no error. I want to purchas PSE 11, but wanted to install/restore the database with the same version 9 first.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have lost several days of work when Vault has overwritten my local files, about 5 iam and 20 ipt-files. I think it started with a crash and then when I reopened my main assembly it was 13 days old.
It seems that I have forgot to check in my local files to Vault since that date. I am not sure how it happened but I suppose I have answered the question (about replacing local files by older versions from Vault) wrong. Is there any possibility to restore my overwritten files?
