Is there a way to change he default layer a detail comes in on. For example I go to detail manager and insert a section view of a W10X112 it is inserted on layers "A-Detl-Wide" and "A-Detl-Patt" I would like it ti insert on Layers S-Detl-wide and S-Detl Patt"
View 5 RepliesWe have a set of standard layers and styles we wish to be in every file. Many users are purge happy. and the these standards many times get purged out.
I have a block I've created that holds all the standard styles and layers which I have turned to an anonymous block. I wish to stick this somewhere that would make it unpurgeable. I thought I'd find another block which normally cannot be purged and place my block inside, but am not certain which one would be best.
where I might place this block to cause it to be un-purgeable?
I would like to make some sort of an "online" catalog where the engineers could review details, and just tell the draftsmen the details they would like to include in their design set. I'd be very interested in any system that you might use. We, at one time, used printed booklets for the engineers, but got to be a hassle when details changed. Is there a good software system that might make this an easy task?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI inserted a design component of a concrete wall and the hatch pattern came in with ansi31 instead of a concrete pattern and it is filled in. I dragged another wall style from tool palette and instead of the conc pattern, I'm getting the ansi31 pattern. Also tried the 3" base course with a gravel pattern and got the same thing.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with AutoCad Architecture 2014 on my Mac Pro running Parallels and Windows XP.
The crosshair, grid lines,and actual drawing do not show up on my work space, either Model or Paper. When I installed the software two days ago, the software was working properly. I could see what I was supposed to on the drawing space. Something happened that has caused those items to disappear. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software two or three times but continue to have the problem. Since I am new to ACA, there is likely a setting that I have overlooked or accidentally changed.
I have imported a ISO Shipping container but the scale is to large. How can I scale it down to architecture setting standard not metric. When I try to use the scale option all it does is makes it larger? I have not search yet do to time restrictions.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make walls that are not just the Standard type (Brick -4 Brick -4 Furring for example) but when I make a wall of this type, it displays as a simple rectangle, instead of with the unique hatch patterns of that wall type...In the properties palette, the wall type is Standard, even though I've chosen a more specific wall type. How do I make walls that aren't Standard?

The problem is when I turn off all the layers I am using and I leave the ones I'm not using on their is noting on my screen??? why they are their and why I can't get rid of them. View 3 Replies View RelatedAt the moment in AutoCAD (vanilla), we use different names & colors for block walls, concrete walls, etc. for easy isolation of each type, & for different lineweights (CTB). I thought of doing the same in ACA for the same reason, and so in wall styles, display properties, I changed the shrink wrap to by block.
This allows me to change the color of the walls according to the layers I put them into (in plan view). As I haven't even done a building in ACA yet, I need to find out if this method is acceptable, and what are the disadvantages, pitfalls, and if there's anything bad about it.
I would like to create sections from my 3D model that would directly associate the layers cut from the model. In other words, I would like the line work in the section to be on the same layer as entities in model.

I have an xrefernced drg , which i print from a layout/paperspace .I freeze certain layers using VPort freeze in layer properties and save the drg whenever i close and reopen the drawing the layers are thawed in the viewport again.

I've worked on CAD for a number of years while at a structural firm, an engineering firm and took classes in school but one thing I never had to do was setup was my own professional drawing from scratch. I know enough that it's crucial I start off on the foot. The engineering firm I worked at had everything ready so whenever I used CAD it was in an existing drawing or preparing a detail which the drafters imported. When I did some drafting work for an architect, he also had the drawing setup for me.
Since I'm now on my own I need to setup my own template drawing with a title block, layers, etc. Whats the best route for setting up my own sheets?
At my firm we always worked in a 1:1 scale & engineering units but since I'm doing floor plans for renovation work I plan on using the industry standard.
I'm having some problems with drawing paths in Illustrator. Everytime I draw a new path, this new path shows up in the standard settings. The 'brush defenition' turns back to 'basic' and the 'variable width profile' back to 'uniform'. It would save me a lot of time if I could change those standard settings into what I prefer.

If not it would be a little awkward to achieve exactly the same result with a different file. As replacing references does´nt work with single view representation I´m stuck with manual- non constrained alignment of view details... which can´t be right I guess.

I am working on a lab with cabinets. I changed the door to a single window (left/top image) from a solid door (right/bottom image) and now my renderings (left/top image) look like crap. Have I just pushed my card too far..
Using AutoCAD 2012 MEP, render set at Presentation 1024x768, walls are xref'd in.
PS - I did not spec the pc or cad package, just working with what my employer set me up with. Full pc stats are in my profile.
I have never gotten this to work, but had put little effort into it until recently. Thus far I have checked my project standards to make sure "match sheet views to view" is checked to "yes".
In both View drawing and the sheet- VISRETAIN is set to 1.
the VPLAYEROVERRIDESMODE is set to 1
I am working on drawings that are in my current project through project navigator. I am using ACA 2010 and not sure what else I need to do. I turn off all the unwanted layers in the view drawing, then create a sheet and xref in the view to model space- all the layers reset, and I again have to turn off all the unwanted layers. If I change a layer color in the view drawing, it does not change in the sheet drawing upon save and refresh.
I hate wasting time repeating the same task over and over....
I have some doubts about Level of Details. How to constraint the assembly in Level of detail mode. I need suppress the features in position mode not in Level of Detail mode.

The details that we need to make understandable are something too small because there is just no space on the paper for us to make this really clear by eg using the scale 1:1.
Our question is:
-Can I place a created detail from Sheet 01 on to another sheet?
-Can I have a reference in the partkist to this Sheet 03?

Similarly is there any API call for Attach Image files
