AutoCad :: How To Convert DWG File While Retaining Details
Apr 4, 2010
i have many drawings in dwg but wish to upload onto my website...how can I convert a dwg file and retain its detail so it can be the same on my web page....have converted dwg to jpeg tiff gifff etc but it loses detail
I have created an image by combining 2 images the model and the frame (finished1), because i need this image with a clear background when I save it as a GIF the image degrades (finished2) how can i save the image with a clear background and still maintain the details of the JPG?
I was given the follwoing info. but not sure it answers fully - it still doesn't resolve the problem of converting to CMYK with the icc profile. I think this might be an option if the profile is loaded into the colour setting (colour settings under edit menu as oposed to convert to profile and its convert to profile I have been trying to action. Am I missing something straightforward?
you can do batch process in Photoshop
[URL]
-There is a fast and easy method to batch convert many RGB photographs to CMYK files by using Photoshop
-Please open an image, then open the Action Tab (Window > Actions)
-Please click 'Create new action' button, name the action in the text field and click the 'Record' button.
-Now it is recording, so select 'Image > Mode > CMYK Color', then hit the 'Stop' button in the Action Tab.
-The action is now created ready for the next step.
-To batch convert a folder of images, just select 'File > Automate > Batch' and the following window opens.
-Choose the 'Convert RGB to CMYK' action from the drop-down list, choose the source folder where your images are stored, then choose a destination folder where Photoshop will save the converted images.
-Click the 'OK' button and the batch process will start. How fast will depend on the number of images that need converting.
-The action you created will be stored, so you only need to perform a new batch process the next time you need to convert a batch of images.
10.7.4/Mac Pro/PhotoshopCS6 13.0 - When cmyk converting a multilayered rgb file layers containing transparency doesn't convert to same profile as layers not including transparency, e.g. a product with a shadow - each on separate layers.
the product layer is converted to working Color settings but the transparent layer isn't and is converted completely different, both grayscale and UCR/GCR.
In a 3d model, say an ipt or iam file, it usually shows the design details in the browser.
These details tells that the way you created the sketches, features, planes, model, etc.
Are there any possibilities to remove the design details from the file?
I am not talking about the export formats (ie. STP, STL, SAT, etc) I ask this because I sometimes don't want to show details that how I created the models.
When I use File > Open or Place Component the Windows file browser opens in List mode which means that I have to use the horizontal scroll bar to browse the directory. I would like it to open in Detail mode [List and Detail are some of the view choices under the View Menu of the Windows file browser window] allowing me to browse with the vertical scroll bar. -- I think it's ergonomically eaisier.
I can make the change from the View Menu but it doesn't hold. I have checked to see that Windows 2000 is set for Details when using Windows Explorer.
Are there any settings in Inventor to force Detail mode?
I use Windows 7 Home Premium, and I recently installed VideoStudio Pro X6. After making a video file, I found that the file details that are usually visible within Windows Explorer were not present. For example, when making a video using older versions of VideoStudio Pro, Windows Explorer would display the file size, video length, frame width and height, frame rate, data rate, etc., but now with Pro X6 none of these details can be found. When right-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer to check the properties tab, all the fields reserved for these details are blank.
Is there a setting within Pro X6 that I am overlooking that enables the saving of these details again?
I have a client who has a set of .ai files they need resized to meet various epub layout specs. Apple and Kindle both are different sizes so I need to know the best way to resize an .ai file 11.25 x 5.65 inches into a smaller dimension in pixels while retaining the layers.
I am having difficulty converting a STP file (made in SW) to a Parasolid Text file for a customer. I was going to post the model to Customer Files, but for some reason I cannot post on there? The file size is roughly 21MB
I usually work with blender and I have a problem with a file I downloaded. It is a parasolid file (x_t) which I can't open in Blender. I can't use CADexchanger as well because I am using a MAC. How to convert the file into a STL/OBJ/3DS file that I can import in Blender? I compressed the file and it is 5.8 MB so I can't attach it here and would have to send it manually.
I am having one query. I always recieves dwg file of diff. units from my clients. I have to convert those drawing dim manually. Is there any way by which i can import those diff units dwg files in my dwg file and get the content of these files automatically converted to the units that i want. I spend lot of time converting units.
how to convert this 3d .stp file into a .dwg file so I can put it into my autocad drawing. I don't have any software that will open it but I've read all over that it can be done if you have the right program.
I would like to print a drawing with its ctb. file to a format that allows me to import it into illustrator without losing the set lineweights in the original Autocad drawing.
I've tried it once using a pdf writer, but when imported into illustrator it reverts to one line weight for all the lines.
Is there a better way of retaining the assigned lineweights (per the embedded ctb file) ?
will printing it as an .eps instead of pdf do? and how does one print to .eps?
I have Autosave set to 10min and the file location D:/Autodesk/Autosave, file extension .ac$. I see the progress bar appearing at bottom left, so I know the function is active. I had a situation yesterday where I inadvertently closed a drawing without saving the changes and thought I would be able to at least recover up to the previous 10min by renaming the last ac$ as a dwg; but when I looked in the directory there are no ac$ files, only .bak. I have just checked now and there is one ac$ file - for the currently open drawing. Why aren't the ac$ files being retained?
AutoCAD is constantly losing settings and commands that I give it. The Undo command is one of them. I'll set it to undo [ALL] and after a while (a couple of days maybe) I will find this command on a different setting. This has been happening to many other commands as well.
I have a platform at level 13.275m and nearby there is a retaining wall at aprox. level 4.0m.
For the wall i've made a surface using feature lines from EG till level 15.0m and then pasted into the EG surface to create the 'barrier' for the slope. But when i do the grading with the fill slope projection to surface, when it reaches the retaining wall section, the contour lines go crazy and if i do a quick profile, the fill slope line (obvious) is iregular, rather than a straight down line (2:1) going from level 13.275m till it hits the EG.
I've attached a picture to show the problem better.
My company has an access database that has all of our service data on it. I am currently considering rebuilding the database because it is a database with one table and a million fields. I want to split the database up into separate tables with relationships. All of these tables would be linked based on the same key field Service_ID.
Now here is the hard part. The data would be in a one to many relationship with one record for service info and multiple records per service for pipe info. The data is currently linked to objects in AutoCAD Map 3d 2014 based on the Service_ID key field and a "service" link template.
If i rebuild this database, am I going to lose all of my links? or will i retain the links? Also, is there a way to automatically generate links based on the service_ID field? For instance there are 3 records of pipe information for 1 service. Previously all of these records would be in the same table, but now the tables are split. Since they have the same Service_ID as the Service information, will the links show up?
I am atempting to mirror a large assembly, and noticed that not all of my contraints were retain, is there a way to make to mirror and retain all of the contraints?
I cannot figure out how to create a solid surface on top of the retaining walls and also how to grade the transitions for the high to low points of the retaining wall. This would be so much easier for me in Solid Works
I am working with a few engineers and they want me to convert the idw drawing file to a vsd "Visio" file for there redline process. They would like to be able to play with the line work in Visio. Is this possible?

I need to insert a 3d component into our AutoCAD drawing, and the vendor can only supply this as a .stp (step) file. Need to convert the attached .stp file to .dwg.
The file has been zipped because I am unable to upload a file with the .stp extension.
We are looking for a SVG to DXF file converter windows library which can be integrated into our application. The DXF files generated, should be able to be imported in EDA tools like (Altium,MentorGraphics)
We would like to know which tool can be used and the price, licensing terms as well. If there is a demo version of the library available to test it?
I have a tds raw file that I would like I would like to import into a new c3d drawing. I've tried and tried to convert it using the program inside of c3d, but to no avail.
