AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2012 Retaining Wall Assembly And Wall Height?

Jul 23, 2012

I am using the RetainWallVertical subassembly with a created gutter subassembly attached to the wall and a DaylightGeneral subassembly attached to the gutter assembly.  My cut slope parameter is set to hold at 1.5:1.  I would like to use a target (feature line or alignment) to daylight to and have the wall height adjust accordingly.  Problem, I am not able to use a target other than a surface for daylighting.  I can use my existing ground surface, which I am daylighting too, but I can't adjust the target point.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Grading Against A Retaining Wall

Sep 8, 2012

I have a platform at level 13.275m and nearby there is a retaining wall at aprox. level 4.0m.

For the wall i've made a surface using feature lines from EG till level 15.0m and then pasted into the EG surface to create the 'barrier' for the slope. But when i do the grading with the fill slope projection to surface, when it reaches the retaining wall section, the contour lines go crazy and if i do a quick profile, the fill slope line (obvious) is iregular, rather than a straight down line (2:1)  going from level 13.275m till it hits the EG.

I've attached a picture to show the problem better.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Rendering Retaining Wall - Large Surface On Top

May 3, 2012

I am in Civil3D 2012, and am trying to render a retaining wall we doing. I set up a corridor, surface, and profile, and have it working with plans and such, but when I try my hand at rendering it looks rather odd. The surface is fine, and I can choose materials on the vertical wall subassembly, but It just shows a paper thin object ever 25' and a large surface on top. Does the top of the wall need a feature line as well.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adding Retaining Walls And Curbs To Surface?

Nov 9, 2013

I am having a lot of trouble adding retaining walls to my surface. I also have to add the curbs of parking lot.

I already have the surface. However I need to tell Civil3D to stop the contours at the retaing walls and not to try to tie them in to anything else. The closest I got was using wall breaklines and I got the top of the retaining wall to have the desired elevation. However, all the contours going to the retainig wall try to go around it and tie in to something else. This ends up creating weird contours and crazy slopes.

Now for curbs, how do I tell Civil3D to jump 6" when it reaches the curb line?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Exporting Curved Feature Lines And Retaining The Elevations?

Jan 3, 2013

I have a series of curved feature lines in Civil 3D where the elevation varies along the length of the curve. When I export the file in AutoCAD the feature line elevations are 0. In my previous version of 2010 civil 3D this did not happen but now I am running 2012 version and I can't find a way around it.

Why does 2012 Civil 3D not export feature lines the way it did in previous versions and retain the elevations?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Rotate Multiple Text Objects 180 While Retaining Individual Insertion Points?

Feb 14, 2013

I have numerous text objects I want to rotate 180 while retaining each text objects insertion point.  There's got to be an easy way to do this.

Long explanation:  I created an annotation template to label pipe diameters on an imported shapefile.  Everythings good, labels are parallel with lines, except for the fact that some labels are upside down.  Is there an expression that would eliminate this?  In my annotation template, my rotation expression equals the "angle" field of the object.  My "quick and dirty" fix was to burst the annoation labels, and manually rotate necessary text, which wasn't a huge headache since I'm dealing with a relatively small number of labels, but in the future I might have hundreds of upside down labels.

Revit :: How To Change The Wall Assembly

Jan 17, 2013

I am trying to change the wall assembly of my foundations (getting rid of a layer of EIFS) and it won't let me delete the layer or change the width (although I can change it into an airbarier). Is there any way to control what parts of the wall are locked in the "edit assembly" window?

I am very new to Revit and am using a student version, I'm nt sure if that changes things.

92mm Steel Stud

Revit :: Custom Wall Assembly Tag?

Nov 1, 2013

Im working on creating all of our common AutoCAD annotation symbols in revit.

For section details we use a wall asembly tag that wraps the thickness of the wall, and its set up so we pull the arrows to match the width of the assembly. (see attatchment)

Im struggling to find a way to make this work in Revit as well, either by automatically adjusting to the width of the assembly we are tagging, or even by just pulling the arrows like we did in autocad.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating A Rail Sub Assembly In Sub Assembly Composer 2013

Jul 11, 2013

I thought I created a rail sub assembly.

So I created the rail sub assembly everything looks great in sub assembly composer.

Start a new dwg data reference in the rail alignment, Note the rail alignment type is set to rail.

Create an assembly and under the Construction tab for the assembly the Assembly Type is set to Railway. Attach my custom sub assembly to this assembly.

Created a corridor and I get this error: Something wrong with current subassembly: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.

So I delete my sub assembly attach the Civil 3D Rail Single sub assembly. Re run corridor and everything works fine.

So I promote the alignment change type to centerline. Delete the Rail Single sub assembly put my rail sub assembly back. Rerun the corridor and everything works.

So then I undo everything up to the point of promoting the alignment.

Opened the base file changed the alignment type to centerline.

When I tried to synchronize the references I ended up a broken reference with the following error. Invalid reference. Synchronization failed

Not good we already have plan sheets cut.

where in sub assembly composer were do I define the sub assembly to be for Rail?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Get Wall Thickness Of A Pipe

Apr 17, 2013

The 2013 .NET API exposes just 10 of the 22 PartDataFields for Pipe objects. WTh (Wall thickness) is not one of them so I'm attempting to get it via Late Binding. This lisp code works, where (vl-sel) is just a helper function to select an object and convert it to a vla-object:

(setq pdr (vlax-get (vl-sel) 'partdatarecord))(setq itm (vlax-invoke pdr 'find "WTh"))

to get the PartDataField. However, putting this into my C# code, it fails on the Find portion with an exception

//ps is a valid PartSize objectPartDataRecord pdr = ps.SizeDataRecord;PartDataField diafld = pdr.GetDataFieldBy(PartContextType.PipeInnerDiameter);object[] args = new object[1];
object acadobj = ps.AcadObject;
object pdrobj = acadobj.GetType().InvokeMember("PartDataRecord", System.Reflection.BindingFlags.GetProperty, null, acadobj, null);
args[0] = "WTh";

I am experiencing a problem in 2013.  In part builder, I am trying to add wall thicknesses to the simple cylinder.  I was able to add options for inside diameter and set floor thickness to a list and add options for that, but when I try to set wall thickness to list instead of constant, I get an error in the value menu.

Everything disappears and in red at the bottom, I get a message about an error in calculations.  I even tried temporarily deleting the With from any calculations, but I still got the error.  I have had no problems doing this in 2011 or 2009.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Shortcut Pipe Not Updating Wall Thickness?

Oct 3, 2013

I made a pipe network in one drawing, d-reffed it to another, drew parts in profile.

Then I realised that I needed to show the outside walls of some pipes in profile.  We don't normally display them.  And I found that the wall thickness was wrong.  I eventually figured out how to edit the wall thickness, and I have it working right in the source drawing.  (I had to swap parts to get it to update.)  But the host drawing is not updating.

So if I go to pipe properties in the source drawing, it gives a wall thickness of 165mm (correct).  If I go to the same pipe in the host drawing, and go the the pipe properties, the wall thickness is 75mm (wrong).

how to trigger an update?  I've swapped parts back and forth to different sizes, synchronized, SetNetworkCatalog and done PartCatalogRegen in both drawings.

For background, read Edit wall thickness.

Are most client's modifying these lists to conform to pipe specifications or ignoring these discrepancies?

Revit :: How To Get Wall Sweep Set Up In Type / Structure Properties To Wall Profile Has Changed

Any way to get a wall sweep that's set up in the type/structure properties to follow a wall if that walls profile has changed.  For example, in the image below, I've split the wall and adjusted it's profile to create some cheesy angled parapet.  How do i get my wall cap to follow along?  I thought splitting it and changing it's height would work, but no.  And if I change the profile without splitting the wall the wall cap just runs right through the wall, as if the profiel was never even changed.

Revit :: Bulkhead Wall Join Skews Bottom Of Existing Wall

Jul 25, 2013

I have to draw a bulkhead wall that connects to a full height wall and a gyp bd ceiling.  This causes the entire end of the full height wall to skew in line with the butt joint above the ceiling level.  I tried Wall Joins but all the options screw up the bottom half of the wall which needs to remain in line with the paired opposite.  I also tried editing the sketch of the wall profile but Revit couldn't keep the elements joined.  I tried trimming the two walls back together afterwards but the wall profile dominates and prevents a clean join above the ceiling.

Surely there's a way to have different kinds of joins at different heights?
