I am finding that when I group a bunch of items together and then grab a corner handle and reduce the size of them that the shapes become distorted.

With same PSD file, I hid the layer visibilites and saved another copy, and I noticed that the file size was reduced dramatically.
View 20 Replies View RelatedMade a simple type and shape design with a solid backdrop. When I tried to export via save for web to jpeg with high settings, it came up online with subtle but visible alterations. Behind my shapes are speckled like dust, it looks super low quality.
I tried using ps to save instead, I even tried removing the backdrop and remaking a whole new document and just moving select items over, then recoloring..which was not the best attempt but same result.
I'm not exactly sure what her color settings should be to avoid this. Im working at 6500 x 6500 right now. Here's a visual of the up close issue. All over its less quality. And Im saving at top jpeg settings in RGB. I really don't want to tell her she has to begin all over again.
I tried to save a few pages as one PDF.But it was an epic fail. However, i must have cganged a vital setting, for now when i save PSD files to PDF, the image reduces massively in size, but the file size increases a lot. What have I done and how can i change it back?

I open a new A4 sized template and make my image but when it comes time to print the image is smaller on the page than A4. Is there an easy solution to this? I have messed around with orientation both in GIMP and my printer settings, I have used the printers' "fit to page" setting and tried everything I can think of.

I want to take a bunch of my pictures to my iPad via iTunes. iTunes will accept a PSE Album as a source. But not a Smart Album. I also want to reduce the size of the jpg's in the album. Sort of what I can do with Export. Is there some way I can do this?
Ultimately I'd like to get all my new photos to flow through this downsizing, into the album and be delivered pretty automatically.
I have many images of slides scanned at high res (4800 DPI, maximum pixels 5214x3592). Although I will be saving these as loss less TIFs, I also wish to make JPGs from them that I wish to be just less than 5 MB in file size. Aside from cropping, I know I can achieve such a reduction of JPG file size by a combination of saving to lower quality JPG compression or reducing image size. My question is, what is theoretically or practically better, achieving this mostly by reducing image total pixels or by reducing JPG compression quality.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI accidentally exported original photos in low quality (reduced size from 12MB to 600KB), as I needed to quickly (herein lays my mistake) upload them to a proofing site which requires me to reduce the quality of the images significantly. I NEVER usually do anything without backing things up, or before making a copy etc. This time however, I was in a BIG rush to get these to a client and I not only exported the original files (even though I exported to a new folder, somehow, the originals got reduced as well without me noticing), but I also deleted them from my memory card (I tried card recovery software and no luck). What I'm left with now is a folder full of low quality, useless images and no (known) way of restoring them to the original high quality (12MB) state. Here are some other details:
Program: Lightroom 2
Computer: MacBook Pro
Camera: Nikon D7100
(I only post this as I used my camera to delete the images off the memory cards...not sure if there is a way to recover via camera?)
Images no longer show in preview (yes, I deleted them from there too!)I did not back-up I tried scanning my hard-drive, memory card and external drive with recovery software (no luck)the images were on 2 memory cards and, as mentioned, I deleted them using my camera (when I ran the recovery software, only images that I originally deleted via my computer came up - which were the "did not make the cut" photos from the shoot that I deleted in Bridge - the rest of the photos, which are the ones I need, are not coming up in the scan)These images were to be used as posters, so high quality is crucial. There is nothing in my trash can eitherI tried using a preview extraction plug-in, but as there are no previews (duh Sanja), the plug in proved useless I think that's all the info I can provide (maybe it's too much info as is)...
I use action macro to reduce 8x10s @ 300 dpi to 72 in a subfolder sent to clients by web for them to evaluate and choose preferred images. However, they get 2x3 images at the original dpi, so what they see on their monitor is too small to see differences. If uploaded to facebook etc. images look muddy. What am I doing wrong? Large files typically exceed Yahoo max. What can I do right?

When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?
View 17 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm trying to create a repeat pattern of a Balloon illustration I've done in Adobe Illustrator. I've got the singular file (balloon.ai), which weighs in at around 700MB.
Now I'm trying to create the repeat of this pattern on a separate Artboard which will repeat these balloons, 30 balloons per repeat square to be precise.
What would be the best way to import these separate balloons into the repeat square once (as they're the same file) without affecting the weight of the file and performance of Illustrator?
So, in essence, is there a way to import that balloon.ai file and only have it use up 700MB on the page rather than 30x700MB by the time I've placed 30 balloons?
I can't rasterize the files as the printer needs the raw file.
I designed artwork for a large banner (84" x 32") so my AI artboard is that large. As you can imagine, with all the text and graphics I used, this file size is 22.8 MB. I need to email this art to the printer, but the file size is too large to email. How do i go about reducing the file size in AI so it still maintains large format print resolution? Will saving to a PDF lose the print quality?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know, I know. This question has been asked a million times already. Unfortunately the Align New Objects to Pixel Grid / Snap to pixel grid tip doesn't work for me. When I scale the image down to tiny proportions, the path becomes horribly, sickeningly distorted. It certainly seems like the pixels are being snapped to some kind of grid, but as you can see in the screenshot, the option is disabled. I tried switching between RGB and CMYK with no luck but I havent messed with the document profile past that. I am not yet ready to spend another few hours recreating the image.
I am using Illstrator CS6. Everything except the "web studio" is a path.
How could this happen? I tried to scale a logo down to fit a stamp and Illustrator destroys it by distorting the paths.

I am new to Illustrator. I have designed a new logo using Illustrator CS6 to the best of my knowledge. I now need to create business cards etc for printing but when I save it to jpeg it becomes very distorted after the file is uploaded to the printing site. Even if I cut and paste to another artboard it become distorted as well.

When I import an image onto the design it's perfect, but when i slightly rotate the image, all the edges become serrated. Will this affect the final print? View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a high resolution image in Ai they look somewhat distorted and choppy. They are jpeg files that I am placing in order to envelope distort onto a mesh. For some reason any bitmap image I open with Ai looks like this. However, when I open the same image with Acrobat Pro or Ps the image looks perfect. Images are RGB in both apps.

There most be something in Illustrator that is causing this. Images are being embedded and cannot be linked since they need to be distorted. I am runnung CS6 on Intel iMac Maveriks.
I am using trial of Adobe Illustrator CS5. When ever I export file (RGB) to PNG or JPG format, there is size difference of 1px in width or hight or both. But when I save that file with Save for Web & Devices option, then there is no such issue.
I have tested with so many files.I didn't faced such problem with Illustrator 4.
I was just provided a pdf for a large. The customer however forgot to build in a bleed. I can see from the imbeded info the file was made in Illustrator cs5. Knowing this I opened the pdf Ill cs5. When i attempt to do this I get an error that there is a linked image missing. So I figured I would place the whole pdf in a new illustrator file. When I fo this I can see all the illustrator layers from the original file. Including the image that supposedly wasn't linked.
Once I have the place pdf in illustrator I can edit the original illustrator elements just fine. The only problem is that now when I try to save this file as a pdf again it's file size grows about ten times, going from just short of 5 mbs to 45 or more mbs. This larger size keeps me from emailing it and unfortunitly the banner printer I was sending it off too doesn't use dropbox.
How I can add a bleed to this pdf without making the file unresonibly large? I have already tried turning off the all optional inclusions on the pdf such as allow Illustrator editablity.

Is there any way to simplify the ai file without disturbing the profile of the entities in ai file. I tried Simplify options. It worked a little bit. But i want any other option to simplify the ai file in order to reduce the file size in a larger extent.

Many of our AI-files have a tendency to 'bloat' to sizes above 60 or 100 MB, even though they relatively simple, all things considered.
The obvious answer would be to save with PDF-compability, but since we need to link the AI-files in InDesign-documents, that's not an option. We have cleaned the brushes, the symbols etc. and all pictures are linked, not embedded.
Are there any other ways to reduce the file-size?
Recently I upgraded fo Illustrator CS6 and found something that is going to screw up my working with clients. The problem is that the .ai and .eps files are having really huge size (67MB on an average). I have used about 6 images (jpeg at 1024x768, less than 1MB each) made them as pattern in the swatches panel and applied on various shapes. The .ai file size is 109MB :O :O :O . Another ridiculous thing is that an art that contains only 3 lines of text plus some circles and squares (3 circles, 2 squares) filled with solid color is around 68MB.

I all, I'm working on a file that I have setup as 1045 px by 154 px. When I export this file to jpeg, png or bmp the file become over 4000 px wide. This is likely an easy thing I'm missing.
