I tried to save a few pages as one PDF.But it was an epic fail. However, i must have cganged a vital setting, for now when i save PSD files to PDF, the image reduces massively in size, but the file size increases a lot. What have I done and how can i change it back?
View 3 RepliesI have many images of slides scanned at high res (4800 DPI, maximum pixels 5214x3592). Although I will be saving these as loss less TIFs, I also wish to make JPGs from them that I wish to be just less than 5 MB in file size. Aside from cropping, I know I can achieve such a reduction of JPG file size by a combination of saving to lower quality JPG compression or reducing image size. My question is, what is theoretically or practically better, achieving this mostly by reducing image total pixels or by reducing JPG compression quality.

I open a new A4 sized template and make my image but when it comes time to print the image is smaller on the page than A4. Is there an easy solution to this? I have messed around with orientation both in GIMP and my printer settings, I have used the printers' "fit to page" setting and tried everything I can think of.

I want to save the changes made in PS CS5 for Mac to another file as a TIFF, so why is PS insisting on reducing the ppi to 72?
With same PSD file, I hid the layer visibilites and saved another copy, and I noticed that the file size was reduced dramatically.

When opening my unedited picture in Irfanview I can read a long list of information under "EXIF", but as soon when I open the photo in Paintshop and save it a great part of the original EXIF information is "gone" and replaced by a very brief survey, including Paintshop information.
What can I do to preserve the original EXIF information?

I want to take a bunch of my pictures to my iPad via iTunes. iTunes will accept a PSE Album as a source. But not a Smart Album. I also want to reduce the size of the jpg's in the album. Sort of what I can do with Export. Is there some way I can do this?
Ultimately I'd like to get all my new photos to flow through this downsizing, into the album and be delivered pretty automatically.
I am finding that when I group a bunch of items together and then grab a corner handle and reduce the size of them that the shapes become distorted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI accidentally exported original photos in low quality (reduced size from 12MB to 600KB), as I needed to quickly (herein lays my mistake) upload them to a proofing site which requires me to reduce the quality of the images significantly. I NEVER usually do anything without backing things up, or before making a copy etc. This time however, I was in a BIG rush to get these to a client and I not only exported the original files (even though I exported to a new folder, somehow, the originals got reduced as well without me noticing), but I also deleted them from my memory card (I tried card recovery software and no luck). What I'm left with now is a folder full of low quality, useless images and no (known) way of restoring them to the original high quality (12MB) state. Here are some other details:
Program: Lightroom 2
Computer: MacBook Pro
Camera: Nikon D7100
(I only post this as I used my camera to delete the images off the memory cards...not sure if there is a way to recover via camera?)
Images no longer show in preview (yes, I deleted them from there too!)I did not back-up I tried scanning my hard-drive, memory card and external drive with recovery software (no luck)the images were on 2 memory cards and, as mentioned, I deleted them using my camera (when I ran the recovery software, only images that I originally deleted via my computer came up - which were the "did not make the cut" photos from the shoot that I deleted in Bridge - the rest of the photos, which are the ones I need, are not coming up in the scan)These images were to be used as posters, so high quality is crucial. I've created a resume in Photoshop CS5 for OS X - I know, I should've used InDesign but I'm more comfortable working in Photoshop.
The PSD is currently 2550x3300 px (8.5x11 in) at 300 dpi. I'd like to save the resume as a PDF flie so I can submit it online. I have no intentions of printing this particular document. Most websites will only accept a file size of under 1MB. What are the ideal settings for saving a PDF in the smallest file size without sacrificing on image quality? I should also note that I do not have Acrobat Pro.
When I use the "attach" command in order to attach an external image lets say in TIFF format which is around 8.7mb the image quality in Autocad is greatly reduced. Is there anything I can do for that?

I have created a farm map in AutoCAD 2008. I want to have a sign made with this image on it with dimensions 775mm x 1096mm. I saved this image as an eps file of size A4 and sent it to the sign maker. The sign maker got back to me and told me that when he blew this image up it was blurry and could I please save it at its actual size.
My problem is that I'm not sure how to save this image at this size.

We got several image files every 2 weeks which should be edited and mainly reduced in size for web purpose. This work needs 1 work day for one man/woman to do, because he/she has to open the file save for web and then set the quality to a value were the file is nearly about 150-200 KB in size.
The images are different, some have few colors, some have a lot of colors and there are also different in resolution. But they should not be reduced in resolution, only in quality. All other specs of the image should be kept

Recently I've noticed, when uploading some photo's to my web site that the file size is rather small. I know that cropping, processing, and saving to jpeg results in file size reduction.
So ... I did a test. I took one photo shot in the raw format (the file size was about 21 mp). I then took it into Photoshop CS5 and just saved it as a jpeg ... and the file size went to 9.9 mp. I found that to be a questionable reduction.

So the Question: Is this test reduction normal or am I doing something wrong with my "save as" settings
Saving JPGs & PNGs from Photoshop CC is creating what I can only describe as a obscene file bloat. Just recently, what should have been a 7k jpg saved as a 1.1 mb jpg file. PNGs which should average roughly 100-150k are coming out at 1.3mb. If I use the "Save for Web", sometimes it gives me the proper sized images.
I have noticed this on 2 computers --- one a mac & one windows with completely different file sets. So it is not an issue of my OS, the original files or anything specific to one particular common item.
Doing the same thing with pshop cs6, I get the proper file sizes. I have included a sample image here. This image is a straight out "save" from pshop CC -- it is 1.1mb. However, when I saved the same image as a JPG in pshop cs6, it was 7k.
I need to save my files the same MB as my Image Size, but when I save my work on my desktop, it looses 2/3rd of its size. Ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used a commercial scanning system at the local library that saved files via THE GIMP as a png file.  I saved the file to flash drive and copied to my desktop at home.  On my desktop, the file is 21.3 MB in size.Â
I load it with Photoshop CS4 and immediately save it.  The file size is now 1.6 MB. I compare the two files side by side and find that the pixel per inch are the same on both (4720X4720) and neither is compressed.   Both images appear to be identical.  What is the reason for the dramatic difference in file size?Â
I have recently created psd files for a wedding album.
The album company will accept psd files or jpegs.
The jpegs need to be at least 30MB. The psd file sizes are around 108MB.
When I save them as jpeg at the highest quality I am not getting anything larger then 10MB.
I am trying to avoid having to upload 32 psd files thru ftp.
How do I save a PDF file in PSE to be a small file? I start with a 700kb file, amend it, save it as a PDF (small) file and then it's over 7000kb?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a faster way to save my images. I shoot in raw, save raw images as jpegs after editing them in Camera Raw. I am using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac version 10.7.5. When I save, I either have to save as a copy of the exisiting image, or replace the image I'm working on. Other forums I've read said to make an action to save and create a function key to make this process faster, but my function keys aren't working, and playing the action I've created still makes a copy of the image.

I've tried reinstalling CS6, removing all other custom things I had (textures, brushes, etc.) but not matter what I do, I cannot for the life of me get custom new document presets to save anymore.

Today the Print to PDF fails... it doesn't give me an error it just pretends like it prints to pdf with the status box popping up for a second, then nothing. So I attempted to Save As a PDF instead this worked, but resulted in pdf with a file size of 453M! This is much larger than the pdf's I was getting before, in the 3-ish M file size..
