When I edit my photos in Lightroom (4.4 at the moment) they look great. I am looking for extreme sharpness and clarity and I am able to achieve that. Though, once its exported the image quality is reduced. Why? how to set my export settings to the max.

When I use the "attach" command in order to attach an external image lets say in TIFF format which is around 8.7mb the image quality in Autocad is greatly reduced. Is there anything I can do for that?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't know how to explain it properly, but recently if I download a picture and open it in Photoshop is appears rough and edgy. For example, I just recently downloaded this.
However, when I attempt to open it using Photoshop is appears like this. (I couldn't open the screenie in Photoshop as the quality was reduced even further)
I just started using Photoshop recently, but when I first started using Photoshop it didn't do this. It happens, I now know, with any image. Even those that were never downloaded such as the screenie I provided have a drastic decrease.
I have many images of slides scanned at high res (4800 DPI, maximum pixels 5214x3592). Although I will be saving these as loss less TIFs, I also wish to make JPGs from them that I wish to be just less than 5 MB in file size. Aside from cropping, I know I can achieve such a reduction of JPG file size by a combination of saving to lower quality JPG compression or reducing image size. My question is, what is theoretically or practically better, achieving this mostly by reducing image total pixels or by reducing JPG compression quality.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI accidentally exported original photos in low quality (reduced size from 12MB to 600KB), as I needed to quickly (herein lays my mistake) upload them to a proofing site which requires me to reduce the quality of the images significantly. I NEVER usually do anything without backing things up, or before making a copy etc. This time however, I was in a BIG rush to get these to a client and I not only exported the original files (even though I exported to a new folder, somehow, the originals got reduced as well without me noticing), but I also deleted them from my memory card (I tried card recovery software and no luck). What I'm left with now is a folder full of low quality, useless images and no (known) way of restoring them to the original high quality (12MB) state. Here are some other details:
Program: Lightroom 2
Computer: MacBook Pro
Camera: Nikon D7100
(I only post this as I used my camera to delete the images off the memory cards...not sure if there is a way to recover via camera?)
Images no longer show in preview (yes, I deleted them from there too!)I did not back-up I tried scanning my hard-drive, memory card and external drive with recovery software (no luck)the images were on 2 memory cards and, as mentioned, I deleted them using my camera (when I ran the recovery software, only images that I originally deleted via my computer came up - which were the "did not make the cut" photos from the shoot that I deleted in Bridge - the rest of the photos, which are the ones I need, are not coming up in the scan)These images were to be used as posters, so high quality is crucial. There is nothing in my trash can eitherI tried using a preview extraction plug-in, but as there are no previews (duh Sanja), the plug in proved useless I think that's all the info I can provide (maybe it's too much info as is)...
I have a preset in Lightroom set to export photos with the long-edge at 900px in length. Whenever I use the resize feature, the photos that result have horrible noise and I don't know what to do about it. I can export the images at full size without any noise, then use Photoshop CS5 to resize the images and still have cleaner photos.
Here's an example.
The following export preset it set as such:
- Export as JPEG
- Quality = 100%
- DPI = 300
- Resize to 900px on long-edge
The first photo is exported via Lightroom 5 with the above settings, then directly uploaded to Imgur.
The second photo only has the Resize feature disabled in Lightroom. It was then resized to 900px on long-edge in Photoshop CS5 and the uploaded to Imgur.
The only difference between these two photos is which program was used to shrink them down to 900 x 600px.

What do you think could be causing this? Since the only difference between the photos is which program resized them, all I can think is that it's an LR5 issue...
I've been using GIMP to make GIFs and they were okay until one day I realized the GIF quality was terribly reduced after I exported it. But everything seemed fine when I was in the process of making it (I never use any color transformation I normally just crop and resize image and that's it) when I used playback the GIF seemed okay but once after exported, the quality was very terrible. I couldn't understand why.
Every single GIF I make ever since faces the same problem. The animation playback and everything seem fine. Just I can never export the same quality GIF like what I see in the playback, every time it ends up with a low quality one. I re-install GIMP but that doesn't work at all. I download the latest version but that doesn't change anything either.
I have just moved up to CS6 after many years of using Elements - so am coping fairly well with my new "toy" !
One thing has me a bit baffled:
I store my photographs in two formats: the original in .nef and the processed final version in .psd.
If I select "full screen preview" of a .psd file, in Bridge, it comes up full screen, but not at what I would consider to be best quality.
If I export a copy at 800 or 1280 quality in .jpg and view it in Windows Photo Viewer (or open the file in Photoshop itself) there is a distinct difference in picture quality compared to Bridge. The Bridge copy seems to have slightly muted colours and the sharpness is markedly less. I have two monitors so can compare them side-by-side, and have transposed them on the monitors with no difference.
In Elements, I can have the organiser on one monitor, if I highlight a thumbnail and hit F11 I get a full screen and full quality view on the other monitor.
Is this a "design feature" of Bridge/CS6 ? or have I missed something when setting CS6 up in the first place ?
I have LR3 and am unable to use the Quality slider when exporting. It is not highlighted and is fixed at a number that is lower than I want.

I open a new A4 sized template and make my image but when it comes time to print the image is smaller on the page than A4. Is there an easy solution to this? I have messed around with orientation both in GIMP and my printer settings, I have used the printers' "fit to page" setting and tried everything I can think of.

There is a stark difference between how the images processed on my iMac look versus how they are seen on a PC. Image quality diminished significantly when viewed on PC. Is there some sort of setting that I am missing or something in how I export the images from Lightroom 4.4 as jpegs

Mainly i use scale image option in Gimp. But now i need to resize many images for my work so i tried David's Batch Processor to resize my images. After using it, i found there is some quality promble with the resized image.
Then i tried, the scale option with, use quality setting from original image and JPEG quality parameter is 95, in gimp but the problem is same. I did it with also with David's batch processor- JPEG quality parameter is 95.
Other thing is that, the original image 2816x2112px (4:3), size- 3.6 MB is displaying in image viewer with 47% and the resized image 1600x1200px (4:3). size- 1.2 MB is displaying in image viewer with 83%, So my questions are: How can i check the quality of a image after resizing it, means the image is exactly same as the original? Or Is David's Batch Processor maintain the original quality of the images after resizing?. I realy need to resize many images for my work.
I'm a light room noobie (as in I downloaded it 2 days ago). I'm loving the experience so far, however, I have a quick question, I have edited a few photos I took at a gig, I've developed them, however, when I look at them in Library, there is a loss of sharpness in some, in others where I've reduced noise in Develop, there is still noise when viewed in Library.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI´m quite frustrated after discovering that some of my images look quite poor displayed by the slideshow module. My situation ist as follows:
LR 5.2 running on Mac OS X 10.8.5, 1:1 previews are rendered, preview quality is set to high, and I´m using a sample image showing a dark cloudy sky with some fine gradients; my slideshow preset doesn´t use any borders as I read this often causes quality issues.
When I´m in the Develop module, there is no problem at all, even in fullscreen display mode on my 1920x1200 display the gradients are perfectly rendered.
In Library module, when displaying fullscreen, quality is okay, but I can see some slight difference compared to the Develop module - which I understand after reading that in Develop the output is based on the actual raw data, and in all the other modules on rendered previews.
Now, when in Slideshow module, the image quality is significantly lower than in Library and I see some quite obvious banding in the gradients. I don´t have problems with blocking artifacts but the banding/posterization is considerably worse compared to a JPEG export with a quality setting of, for example, 75.
I can´t imagine LR´s slideshow tool would be working with a lower color depth than the 8 bit as in standard JPEGs, right? Did I miss any of LR´s parameters that influence the image quality of Lightroom slideshows or of the previews used therefore? Otherwise do you have some other explanations or hints for me in order to get this fixed? We do everything to capture our images in the best possible quality so we should also be able to present them properly after all...
When I export my images from LR4 to CS5 using the Edit In... choice, I first get the ...may require the...Camera Raw plug-in version 7.0... which we all know doesn't exist. Not that that isn't annoying enough (I know - I can turn off the warning) but the image then presented in PS5 is not of the same quality as the one I am exporting from LR4. It's almost as if the Lightroom adjustments are not carried through. I have tried all three color space options to no avail. Also, I am not being presented with the dialog asking if I want to edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments. These are Nikon RAW files (.nef) that I am working with. Other images that are not RAW files do display the Edit Photo with Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 dialog.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI like to keep track of what I've exported and uploaded to Flickr and other sites and what I've sent out to people. It seems tagging my images with some appropriate keyword is the best way to do this. Such keywords as "Flickr" or "Facebook", etc. But I the only way I can do this is to remember to manually apply each such keyword when I do the export. It would seem to me to be wonderfully simply if I could, in the export form, do something like "Add keywords:" and list keywords that would be added to each image exported through that form.
Is there another way to track such usage other than with keywords?
When I export an image with dimesions of 4214x3371, the image size will show as 1.124x1.405''. This is a problem because I am trying to print my images on a 16x20'' canvas. My resolution is set at 3000ppi and I am exporting RAW files to an uncompressed TIFF file with my color space being ProPhoto RGB.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically I made an animation sequence on Autodesk Maya and rendered the sequence as 2000 jpeg images each representing 1 frame, put it in one folder and on Adobe Premiere imported and dragged the folder into the timeline to make a moving image so in other words my video is made up of hundreds of jpg images.
Now on the editor it all looks HD and fine but when I export it via file > export > media, in order to match the sequence to the screen I must click on 'match sequence settings' which will snap the whole movie into the window rather than have it widescreen and once I do this I can't modify anything else such as codec, etc (codec is automatically set as MPEG -Frame and the output automatically is mpeg), is this normal? Why is it mpeg ajnd not avi...
So once I export the video with these settings (image uploaded) the quality is ok but not as good as what I see in the Premeire editor, why? What can I do to improve the quality?
On the other hand if I don't click on match to sequence settings and personally customise the paramaters such as avi, I use max settings for many things but after exporting my picture quality actually goes worse compared tomatch to sequence settings? (which has less parameters)
Why is this happening, all my jpeg images are high quality 720p and I should just be able to export it as normal...
I am trying to make a cut-scene to get into Unity so the codec is important as well.

I record 852x480px at 15 fps with FastStone Capture and save in WMV. I want to show the finished video tutorial on Youtube. There are several things baffling me when editing video in Photoshop CS6.

The result looks very nice when i play it locally in VLC. It looks like the original WMV. But: When i upload the Photoshop-version to YouTube, the video looks very badly "upsampled" and blurred. It looks much worse than the uploaded WMV original. If you like, you can compare the two videos from the same source online:

Rendered in Photoshop CS6, looking bad (set player to 480 p): URL.....I do like the resolution of 852x480 and would like to keep it. If not possible, i have to record tutorials in 1280x720, even though icons and menus look too small. So far i have not tested it.
I searched my folder C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAdobedynamiclinkmediaserver1.0. There is a lot in it which i don't understand, but some file names include "MPEG", "AVI", "Adobe QT Server" etc. I think there is no Quicktime installed on my machine; i try to avoid it as it does many different things to the system and is obnoxious.
My questions:
- When aiming for a YouTube cast, could i stay with 852x480 (at 15 fps), or doesn't it make sense? (I like that size.) If 852x480 is not ok, what is the lowest resolution for getting good looking presentations on Youtube?
- Why does the Adobe Media Encoder in my Photoshop CS6 only offer the formats H.264 and DPX? Can i get more? (Free, pay.)
- Do i need to install Quicktime? How could i do this with less intrusive QT behaviour?
- Should i record more fps in FastStone Capture? (I don't find more fps necessary when looking at the original and when looking at the uploaded *original*.)
I am experiencing some problems in getting a .dwg file I created in AutoCAD 2012 into Photoshop. Basically what I did was traced a jpg file (lots of detail) but now I want to bring that into Photoshop and put some color on it. I used the export option and saved as bmp but then the lines are all jagged (when I zoom in, the detailed features and various lines get blurry, I can see the pixels). Is there any other way to be able to use the work I already did in AutoCAD? I would not like to start my work from scratch in Photoshop.

In X4 it was very easy - just export as usual to the highest quality cmyk jpg and open in Photo Paint... now when I export this way it takes forever to bring up the preview page and most of the time it ends up being blank. Sometimes even crashes. I have played with all options in the filter dialog menu that I can find but nothing works. Thought it might be a file size problem but never had that problem in X4 and anything under 200dpi will not be high enough quality.
View 11 Replies View RelatedCamera profiles created prior to the update to 4.3 still work, but when exporting an image to the software now, a command window pops up VERY briefly "OMG Error #15: Initializing libiomp5md.dll, but found libguide40.lib already initialized." I found both files in c:windowssystem32, but when I looked into a backup copy of my drive from prior to the 4.3 update, neither file is present, leading me to believe they were installed by the update. I tested the LR 4.1 version and the unchanged xrite software performs as it should with LR.
