I have designed a movie clapboard as a logo for myself. When I export it as a JPG, my all my text is missing and my stroke lines look completely different than the original file.
View 7 RepliesI am trying to add some texture to some text by subtracting a grunge pattern from it. I've expanded the appearance of the text, so it is now shapes. However, when I place the texture shape over it and try to subtract it from the letter shapes, it only leaves me with the first letter.
Is there another way to do something like this? I would rather not have to keep subtracting the pattern from each letter individually. I've tried ungrouping the letters, then uniting them in the Paths panel, but it doesn't seem to be working either.
I am using 2014 Revit and have some problem with the exported AutoCAD layers from Revit.
My project has 3 levels and I exported the floor plans from Revit. Ground level and third level have all the elements like shown Revit, but the second floor plan doesn't show certain catagory items like columns. I already tried to create new level for the second floor plan, but the exported result is the same. I am not sure if there is any setting to control the layer visibility when it is being exported.
I'm now switching from Aperture to Lightroom. But now I've big troubles with my geotagged images (+40'000) I export my photos with a seperate XMP files. In Bridge is see the GPS-Tag but when I import the photos in Lightroom then the location isn't imported!
Why isn't the GPS-Coordination not included?
I edited some tiff files and then exported them as jpg files to a different folder. I want to go back and work on some of the original tiff files but they no longer show up in the lightroom library or develope modules even though they are still on the disk. Lightroom sees the original files in the import dialogue but will not let me reimport them either. The exported jpg files are shown in the library module. How can I work on the original tiff files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I export a video, I export to DVD, BLURAY, MP4 for Vimeo, and 2 Master Archives at ProRes 422 and AVC-I 100 all at one time. So like 4 or 5 versions of the same video. Been doing this for years with no issues really. Most of the time the exports all appear to be fine. Now all of a sudden every once in a while one or two of the exports will have one or two transitions missing. Bizaar. And disturbing because some of the videos are over an hour and I can't afford to watch all of the various copies to see if some are missing transitions and some are not. The timeline has no issues. There are lots of cross dissolves and the exported videos look great. But a few times lately one or two of the videos will just be missing one of the cross dissolves right in the middle of the video. It'll cut to black and then fade up the 2nd clip instead of blending the two. The other 2 or 3 videos will look fine and have no issues.
Running 2011 iMac 3.4GHz i7 with 16GB RAM, 120GB SSD (OS and Program), Scratch files on a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD, and exports going to an OWC External RAID0 HDD connected via Thunderbolt adapter. Footage is AVCHD 720p60 edited natively on a 24p timeline.
Doesn't happen everytime, but seems to be happening more often.
I’m working with an external team of artists and they supply meshes to me in .3ds file format. They just upgraded to 3ds Max 2013, and now the materials defined in the .3ds files don’t seem to have textures associated with them. I can see using a binary diff on the file versions that the material names have also been contracted to just their first letters. I have found the material names elsewhere in the file, but not the texture filenames.
Has something changed in the .3ds exporter with Max 2013? The files are coming out significantly smaller, which is good, but without the textures in materials I can’t use them.
Trying to do a piece with plain flat san-serif text on a spiral extruding into the distance with the center of the spiral as the vanishing point. When I do this, some extruded faces are created and others do not. Usually teh curved parts of the letters get extruded but the flat surfaces (like the flats sitting on the baseline) do not. Tried both as editable test and as outlines. Same surfaces were missing.
Tested with a much simpler version - 2 lines of text with returns between them so one line was near the top of hte page ans the other near the bottom so the extrusion would use the center of the page as the vanishing point. Similar result but different surfaces were missing.
I know the CS suite is not meant to be a 3d powerhouse but I realy don't have the time (or money) to learn Maya or Blender or similar. I'm decent at Google SketchUp but importing eps outlined into the Pro version yields thousands of unconnected segments. Might as well draw the text by hand at that point...

There is text ALL OVER this thing and it will be a major headache to see where the font problems are located. When I open a file like this in InDesign where a font is mssing, its highlighted in large pink boxes that stand out real easy. Does Illustrator have a similar feature?

PDF files exported from PS (levels included as we need them to be selectable) have corrupted text. When opening the saved pdf file, a part of text doesn't appear. It is usually starting from the second chapter of text.
View 3 Replies View Relatedit looks to me that an arrow created in Illustrator CS5 and exported in a svg 1.1 file is later recognized as a stroke+triangle (two disconnected objects). It just want to make sure that I did not miss anything. The option "preserve Illustrator editing capabilities" is not checked since I want to open the svg file in Inkscape.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded to Gimp 2.8.3 on my Mac OS Snow Leopard, primarily for the new "export to PDF" feature that would keep text searchable within PDF.
The results are very odd... The text in the exported PDF is, indeed, searchable and copyable, but the font size shrinks drastically (see attached screenshot).
I'm working in a CMYK workspace on a vector graphic with multiple shapes. The above photo is a portion of the graphic as it appears in Illustrator. There are only three color swatches being used.
When I export the file to a PNG, this is what happens:
The two shapes that make the creases of the hand come out a dull color that looks as though the opacity was lowered. I'm using the exact same color swatch for these two shapes as I am for the other blue areas seen in the photo. I've even tried to retrace the two shapes entirely, but I had the same result. My guess is that it has something to do with the yellow area, but I don't understand why it would be having trouble when the yellow shape in the bottom-left corner functions normally when a blue shape is placed in front of it.
I was trying to export a dwg file from Illustrator CS5 in order to edit the drawing in AutoCAD and keep the layer structure. Unfortunatly it results in a bunch of mistakes... some layers are not exported, some layers appear in AutoCAD as blocks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on CS6, OSX, I exported a logo to jpeg form Illustrator, when I open it on the default image preview app and try to copy (cmd+V) it won't let me, the copy option under edit isn't gereyed out but when I use it or press cmd+v a sound tells me the action can't be completed and it obviously doesn't copy to th clipboard, When saving it from the "save for web" option it works properly and I can copy and paste without problems, all of this also happens if I do it in Photoshop, this has never happened to me until now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm making large prints (40x60) from Illustrator files, and the print plugin requires Photoshop. I am converting the AI file's Document Color Mode to RGB, then exporting to PSD as high-resolution 300ppi, using artboards.
When I export the AI files to PSD and view them in PS, the photographic elements appear pixelated at 100% whereas the text & graphics are smooth and high-res. I've checked the linked photographic files, and they are not pixelated. So what I've had to do is export editable PSDs from AI using the "Write Layers" option, open the files in PS, and then re-place the photographic elements so that they are no longer pixelated.
FYI, Anti-Aliasing is set to Art Optimized (Supersampling). The AI and PS files are both sized to 40x60, and the PSD is opening as 300ppi.
When i do clipping mask in illustrator CS5 and exported to WMF, it does not comes like vector image. The clipping mask area becomes blurred when exported to WMF.

It's really annoying because I end up with a bunch of extra files and only need the single exported version that I overwrite when making changes to the AI file. It's also annoying when I have an exported file linked in a Premiere or Indesign file. I was last using CS3 wich didn't have this 'feature.'
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have something going on when I export from Illustrator as a PSD using the artboard. It ends up with a line of transparency around the edges, and is larger than the size of the art exported. It gains about .01 inch around the edges, and when I use 'trim transparent pixels' in Photoshop, it trims it down so it has only gained .07 inches around the edges, but doesn't lose the last line of pixels that are semi-transparent. I am using a script that exports it, then re-imports it and places it in the Illustrator file, effectively swapping the vector for raster. It's part of a larger process I have no control of, so the process is not something I can change, otherwise I wouldn't do that.
Why is it exporting with this line of transparency on the edges? It's causing white lines to show up in the file that it gets reimported to. Until now it was ok because it only shows in the bleed, which gets trimmed off. From now on, though, this process is supposed to be used for non-bleed items, and the white lines are showing up.
When I attempt to use Illustrator CS6 to open an .eps file exported from Google Sketchup Pro 8 I get the following error message "the file is an unknown format and cannot be opened".
If I try to place/link the file I get this message "can't place the illustration. Could not set a position inside the file." Is there an eps version compatibility issue I should be aware of?

This code I created exports my current Ai document as a PSD with set options. It also names the new file what it is called in Ai.
How can I call the created file and open it directly in Photoshop? Keep in mind I would be working on multiple files, so file names would change every time I ran this Export Script.
I could call a specifically named file and open that, but that's not what I need this script to do. I just need it to open the newly created PSD file.
I think it was posted here before but how do you add texture to text? Is the workflow different for 2d text and 3d text?
